Why My Lessons Work

In my experience, a relaxed tutoring environment is both a hugely more pleasant experience for my students, and a far more effective way to get them motivated and learning; the numeric gains on GPA and test scores, and the subjective gains in just ‘feeling better,’ are more than enough to convince me of this.

In school, everyone has to do things they don’t want to do; again, my job is to put those things in context, and give my students a way to deal with the difficulties of school. That way, I can help them master their schoolwork, and they can discover what interests them and be more alert to all the possibilities of life — and this is the true purpose of education.

Established in 2007.

I’ve been tutoring and teaching music since 2007, and I started 206 Tutoring to share my skills. Whether in piano or academics, I help anyone of any age and ability experience the same excitement from learning that I get from teaching.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Academics: B.A. from Columbia, 2370 SAT (800 Math, 800 Reading, 770 Writing), 1590 GRE (800 Verbal, 790 Math — equivalent to 339), seven years’ tutoring experience, all ages, almost all abilities; author featured in dozens of publications and websites.

Piano: repertoire from Chopin to Schubert to Liszt to Beethoven, proficiency in and enthusiasm for arranging your favorite pop songs (everything from Game of Thrones to Rihanna), experience as a symphony and opera critic in college, comprehensive knowledge of classical music and music theory, 15 years’ experience playing the music, all ages, beginner to strong-​intermediate abilities.
