I am particular when it comes to coffee shops, but Hooyah Denis Bakery Café is my all-time favorite café! The espresso is superb — made with care — and the selection of baked goods is diverse with carefully-selected international treats that are hard to find elsewhere. You can taste something delicious from many corners of the world: churros and flan from Spain, miga sandwiches from Argentina, empanadas from South America, tiramisu and cannolis from Italy, and carrot cake and cheese cake from the States. I recently left happy as could be with a delicious cappuccino in hand, freshly-made churros, and a moist ham and cheese empanada that came with a flavor-packed green sauce akin to chimichurri sauce. Although I ordered my food to go, they had an adorable lounge/diner area where you can eat a full breakfast. I can’t wait to return for a hearty breakfast! In addition to the quality products offered at Hooyah Denis, the café oozed authenticity and warmth. The owner, Chris, is a gem — easy to talk to, calm, and understated. I was a little nosy and inquired about the name of the café. It’s named after Denis, Chris’ son. Chris will tell you the story and you’ll leave the café overwhelmed with pride. Definitely make time for Hooyah Denis during your next visit to Seaside Heights and I guarantee you’ll remember why coffee shops can be such special neighborhood places.
