Ocean Stained Glass

I found Ocean Stained Glass through a Groupon deal. It was completely worth it and someplace I’ll go back to. It was very easy to book, just call and Val will get you set up. She can accommodate small parties and this would be a great activity to do with friends. I took a four hour beginner mosaic class. Val showed us past examples from students, helped us pick patterns, and showed us how to cut class. She sets you free to create but buzzed around finding glass colors and giving creative suggestions. You get to create a small mosaic piece. It is a two part class to finish. A four hour session to create the glass work. Then a couple weeks later you go back to grout the piece. I highly recommend this studio.

Val was a great teacher, very kind, helpful, professional, and Refreshingly down to earth. She was easy to talk to and ask questions without feeling dumb. I was so nervous and she made my experience relaxing and enjoying, it was like hanging out with a few girlfriends doing an Awesome project. And most of all, I envy how I see how much she loves & enjoys doing what she does, and is very knowledgeable about glass. Will definitely be back with family & friends for more fun & cute projects ;)

I discovered this stained glass class through Groupon and not only was it unique and fun, it’s also something I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to try something new and creative. Val, who led the class, was both helpful and enthusiastic, and at the end of the day you get to walk away with something you’ve spent a few hours making. Highly recommended.

What a totally fun experience! Used a groupon to take a beginning stained glass class. Val is a great teacher, very patient, friendly, helpful and hands on demonstrating step-​by-​step instructions. This place is awesome! I bought my mom and I classes for Christmas and we had a blast! The instructor is super laid-​back and awesome! We plan on taking many more classes!

I used a Groupon to try Val’s glass mosaic class. TIP: If you have a Groupon, call right away to schedule your class. It’s popular and fills up. She keeps the class intimate so everyone gets the help they need.
As an instructor, she is patient, helpful, and very encouraging.
I can’t wait to go back to grout my project and to take another one! She’s the best!

I had a groupon for both classes. I took the stained glass class and later went back and took the mosaic class. I loved, loved, loved both classes. The owner was so nice and down to earth. It was a fun girls night out. If it was closer to my home I’d definately take a stained glass class from her. I highly recommend the classes offered here.

I did a groupon stained glass class here and it was truly awesome! They made the class really fun and easy going. I was worried I would not be able to do this but it was surprisingly easy to pick up.
They had provided me with an apron, which was really nice and unexpected. Although I don’t think I would have gotten dirty but the just in case preparation was great.
Not once did I feel like they were treating me differently because I came in with a groupon, which does sometimes happen at other businesses.
I love what I made and had tons of fun. I’m very happy I discovered this place!

Often times, Groupon offers great deals for people to be a bit more creative in life. Ocean Stained Glass has had promotions through Groupon in the past and I was delighted to see that one was currently available! Let me be honest, I did not know what I was going to be doing today. Initially, I thought that we would be mixing colors into a pattern to create a brightly designed glass object to display in the home. This was not the case!
When I arrived at the studio, I was greeted by Val who gave me a quick tour of the place. I quickly noticed that she was well-​organized! You won’t have any trouble locating tools or supplies to complete your project. All glass pieces of various shapes and sizes are grouped together by color in small storage containers. She also has some binders on display so that you can select a pattern that you’d like to follow when creating your masterpiece. As you peer around the studio, you’ll be inspired to see other students’ work on display because they had unique interpretations of the same pattern but in different colors.
Prior to getting to work, Val showed me some glass mosaic projects that were created by other students. At this point, I had a clear idea as to what I’d be doing today. I was given a 5 X 7 piece of glass in which Val had taped a copy of the pattern that I had selected to the bottom of it. The glass is transparent so you won’t have any trouble seeing where you’ll need to place and glue each piece of stained glass. I opted for a pattern in the shape of a cat because I wanted to design a project that would remind me of my cat that passed away earlier this year. I was told that I should anticipate spending between three and four hours in the studio. The entire process is time consuming because you tend to become meticulous as you work. You can select various pieces of stained glass to work with but you’ll have to use the mosaic glass cutter to cut the pieces into various shapes and sizes. You end up placing small pieces of stained glass onto the 5 X 7 transparent glass to fit within the pattern. As it begins to take shape, you’ll glue all of the pieces onto the transparent 5 X 7 glass to lock in your pattern. Once you have finished this process, you have to add a border to your pattern to make it stand out. This is a time-​consuming process due to the intricate nature of the patterns and the size and shape of each piece of glass.
Next week, I will return to finish my project! I will be adding grout into the small crevasses between the pieces of stained glass. I’m quite excited to see what the final project will look like because I don’t have an artistic bone in my body. This was a new experience for me and it was a great way to relax and be creative on a sunny afternoon!

In response to Val’s response, my request for a class came 6 weeks out of my deadline for my Groupon. I would not consider that the end of the deal. Groupon refunded my money, primarily on the fact that I was told when asked that Ocean Stained Glass would not honor my Groupon. End of story, lesson learned. Honesty is the Best Policy.

I have taken two separate classes at this studio: one for stained glass and for mosaics glass. I had a Groupon for each class. The instructor Val is super friendly and very helpful. She gives great instruction and allows you to pursue any creative idea you might have for your project. These classes are really great for anyone who loves arts and crafts and would like to try something new and different. She offers advanced classes outside of the Groupon deals that I think I will sign up for because I enjoyed the introductory classes so much.

I bought a Groupon… Which brought me in. Mosaics always intimidated me but I thought.“heck, I can give it a try.” I really enjoyed the class. Val (the instructor) was great. She was helpful and encouraging. She made the whole process tons of fun. She keeps her classes small and intimate which was really helpful for me as a beginner. I am so happy with my finished mosaic and my experience. I would highly recommend the class to anyone and everyone!

I Went into Ocean Stained glass with my mother, grandma, and aunt for a stained glass class. We all had such a wonderful day together and created some beautiful pieces we didn’t think we were capable of making. (I posted a picture of my project.)
The class was taught by Val who was very professional, a great instructor who explained things well, and who was very cool.
I will definitely be back to make another stained glass project, or maybe I’ll try my skills at mosaic. Who knows?
