Art Smart Studio for Kids

Summer camp great for 8 year olds and younger, I would not recommend it for older kids.
My daughter (11) attended the Passion for Fashion summer camp. While I felt very comfortable leaving my daughter there, as it was a safe environment, I do feel the camp was somewhat misrepresented. The only picture on the website for the fashion camp strongly gave the impression that the kids would be using sewing machines, a picture’s worth a thousand words after all, unfortunately they never did. This was a big part of my decision in choosing art smart studio. My daughter wasn’t the only one let down in her expectations for the camp, as another camp attendee also had the expectation of being able to use a sewing machine.
The projects were fun and crafty but definitely geared towards young ones. Somewhere on the website it should indicate the age range the camp is intended for.

I love Carola and her studio. She offered a class in vision boards – everyone should have one. Anyhow I took took the class and spent ½ day clipping and pasting up my very own vision board. The studio had all of the supplies and Carola provided the guidance. It’s been about a year since I finished it and quite a few of my visions on the board have happened! The studio is convenient and all set up for kids and adults to take classes or complete a special project. I highly recommend this business!

I own a small tax practice no too far from Art Smart Studio for Kids, and service many of the locals in the community. Recently, I saw in the Press Telegram that the owner of Art Smart Studio for Kids, Carola Whitlow, was nominated as an Amazing Woman in her category. I just have to say that now I know why of all the places for kids to go after school, Art Smart Studio for Kids is one of the top ranked choices among my clients. Keep up the good work Ms Whitlow!

Art Smart has art classes for children and adults as well as an incredible after-​school enrichment program.
I am a working parent that needs to have a place for my children to go after school. There are a number of options in Long Beach but Art Smart’s program is a stand-​out. They pick your kids up from their school, have them do their homework at the studio, they check the homework and help the kids if they need help or have them redo their work if it’s incorrect or messy, let the kids play outside and have a snack and then do a fun art project daily.
What I especially love is that manners, good behavior, kindness and consideration of others is taught.
My two chidren’s creativity has gone up since attending art smart and I have noticed this translate into other areas of their academics.
Two teachers at Fremont Elementary commented to me that there were noticebale improvements in some of the students in their class after they started attending Art Smart.
I know they pick up from Fremont and Lowell elementaries. You’ll need to call to find out if they pick up at your kid’s school if they attend somewhere else.
They also have monthly Art Workshops for kids that explore various mediums (e.g. mosaics, ceramics, drawing, claymation, felt, recycled materials, etc.), Saturday workshops, Adult workshops, etc.
The adult workshops are very well done. They don’t occur often but they are advertised on the web site well in advance.
They have two summer programs that both my kids have attended. They have Art Camps that are one week long with so many themes it is mind boggling. The summer camps get posted on the website a month or so before school lets out for the summer.
They also have an all day art camp designed for working parents. The take the kids on field trips, to swim classes, farmers markets, movies, swimming at the Seal Beach salt water pool, to the beach, etc. It’s really active and they do some art but art is not the focus. The all day summer program is designed to keep the kids active and entertained. The art is an added benefit of having an all day summer program whose home base happens to be an art studio for kids.
This place is a huge undervalued resource in Long Beach! I can’t say enough about what a great place it is.
