The only reason you would bring your car here is if you don’t mind being ripped off, or if you want to bring your car in several times for the same thing and have it be something more expensive each time they «attempt» to fix it. Oh and let’s not forget how they upcharge parts by 250% and then treat you like you are an idiot for not wanting to pay to be bent over like that. I even called corporate to complain and they said we stand by our managers. That would lead me to assume all the locations are the same. They just lost all of my business and all the business of my friends and family that use to go there.

last week I went to the chevy dealer for a routine oil change. I was told I needed new rear brakes and rotors on my 2012 chevy tahoe to the tune of 400.00. the vehicle has 85,000 miles. so I stopped in to sun devil auto for a second opinion. the shop is clean and employees all friendly. Scott the manager said they can do a complete brake inspection for no charge. yes I needed rear brakes but the rotors could be resurfaced at a total cost out the door of 156! so I made an appointment for this morning. they took the vehicle right and did a great job saving me quite a bit of money. I will be returning here for all of my automotive needs.

After coming here a few times I was really impressed but after getting my brakes done in not too sure. Yes they have cheap oil changes but my brake job doesn’t feel the best.

I made an appointment and brought my car for an oil change. I had never been to SDA before. When I arrived the man at the counter was nice and of course asked what kind of car I had etc. At that time I mentioned that in the time since I made the appointment, the low air pressure light came on for one of my tires. That was the second time in about 10 days so I was concerned that maybe I picked up a nail or had a slow leak. No problem he said they will take a look. I sat and waited in the waiting area.
About 1 hour and 15 minutes later, a different guy came in and told me about a possible oil leak with the car and that they were almost done. I asked if they found a nail in the tire during the rotation. He didn’t know what I was talking about, I again explained about the light. He went out into the garage and told the man working on the car.
About 30 minutes later, the first guy apologized for the long wait time and told me that they do not typically carry the parts for my car, so it took longer than usual. Again, he was very nice.
20 minutes later, I glanced up from my book to notice my car completed outside. I walked up to the counter to check out, looked at the receipt and again, no mention of the tire. Are they just not into tires? I don’t know. I guess not. At this point I wanted to leave. I didn’t want to get into the tire light story again. When I got into my car, the low tire pressure light was on again/​still. Shocker.
I really wanted to like this place, its close to my house and as I mentioned before, the employees are friendly. However, it seems crazy that they completely ignored my concerns about the tire. Now I am going to have to take more time and go somewhere else. Second, maybe when the appointment is made, it would be good to find out the make and model of the car so that the appropriate parts are available. Its a Volvo not a Lamborghini, the parts aren’t super rare. The price was a little high at $ 70, but that is not even my biggest complaint.

My daughter complained of a noise which she thought was under the dash. I listened and determined it was coming from under the hood and could be an idler, alternator or water pump based on my conversation with Jon Howard at Able Auto in Mesa (a friend but too far to drive at the time). Since it didn’t seem critical at the time, I told her to make an appointment for Sun Devil at her convenience. I instructed her to let the shop diagnose the problem and not to mention what I thought. She took the car in on Saturday.
They kept the car for a few hours and sent her on her way saying «It’s a ‘phantom noise’» which basically stated they couldn’t diagnose it. But they sold her an air cleaner! She told me they said «Maybe the old one was rattling around.»
Two days later she called me and said her battery warning light came on as she was driving home from work. She made it home safely and I talked her thru the electrical system and determined she should go to the parts store and ask them to check the battery and alternator in the morning. O’Reilly’s looked under the hood and said her serpentine belt was gone! Since this was on her way to work, she needed to call a tow truck and set out for Sun Devil again. She bought a $ 15 belt from the parts store, which I’m sure saved a couple bucks.
I called and talked to Carlos and told him of them not finding a problem when she first came in and expressed my displeasure of them selling her an air filter when she came in for something totally unrelated. I said the car was on the way back on a tow truck and asked him to restore my faith in Sun Devil, since I recommended them in the first place. I asked if they had a shuttle and was told they didn’t but they would insure she had a ride to work. He immediately began a work order. The determined the water pump had seized. The work was completed and daughter paid in advance. Since we couldn’t pick it up before they closed, Carlos arranged for us to pick it up after hours.
The work was done and so far no problem. Carlos stepped up and provided satisfaction after a shaky start. A single mom needs a shop she can trust when dad isn’t always available. I’d still recommend S.D.A. but with a leery eye. $ 575 later a water pump was installed.

Yeah, I see all the reviews and glad others had a better experience than i, I won’t slam them, but I won’t be back!!!

We’ve been taking our vehicles to Sun Devil Auto since we moved to Phoenix in 2005. Various locations at first and then in 2007 we tried the location on 49^th St and Bell Road. Now, I won’t take my vehicles anywhere else. We have had great experiences with all the employees we’ve worked with at this store over the years. Former managers Tim and then Tony were fantastic and I was bummed to hear they moved to other locations but now the two Scott’s have picked up right where Tim and Tony left off.
We drive older vehicles, one is 13 years old and the other is now 9. Both with over 100k miles so it’s not uncommon for each one to be in their shop twice a year for something out of the ordinary from general maintenance.
I can’t tell you how many times an emergency has come up and they’ve been able to accommodate not only getting it in to look at it but even working with us on prioritizing repairs to spread out the costs if necessary.
They have never pushed unnecessary maintenance or repairs but they will give me as much advance warning as possible for things we need to keep an eye on. Having a brother who’s a mechanic in another state, I used to call him to discuss any recommendations they would make for repairs and ask him what he would charge. He has been impressed with the pricing here being so close to what he would charge in his shop in his rural midwestern town. He has told me time and again to keep these guys as my go to shop. That’s advice I would gladly give anyone who asks where I take my cars for work!

I’ve owned cars my entire life but just now found a shop that I’ll return to. I’ve visited three times now, and left happy each time. There work isn’t cheap, but I feel that they are fair and the speed of service is excellent. I’ll be back the next time I brake something.

Scott at Sun Devil just saved me $ 1000 on control arms for my Audi. The Goodyear shop wanted almost $ 1700. Scott was able to replace the bushings and not the entire assembly. Even if he had done the entire assembly the price was still $ 600 less. Moreover, his crew spotted a potential catastrophic problem with work that Goodyear did just 2 weeks prior. We have a new shop. In today’s world it’s hard to find an auto repair shop with old-​school values.

Honest and Kind
I can’t tell you how very happy I am that Sun Devil Auto provided outstanding and honest service to my 84 year old mother. She brought her much older model car into Sun Devil since she heard funny noises when she was breaking. Her auto mechanic Tony S. worked on that car all afternoon to investigate. What they found led them to believe there was a mistake in some previous work she had done elsewhere. They called the other shop (not sun devil), talked them through the issue, made sure it was covered under the other warranty and did not charge my mother for this, nor try to invent anything that needed repair. They were kind, courteous to her and helped her resolve the matter at no cost to her. It’s actions like this that will allow me to recommend sun devil auto, Scott Coleman the Manager and Tony S. the mechanic who worked so hard to discover the issue. Its easy to take advantage of situations, especially with folk who don’t know much about cars, and they served us well. Thank you!

Great experience at Sun Devil Auto. Although it isn’t the fastest, they do a complete job and offer free wifi while you wait. Good customer service, very friendly and not pushy about things you need done on your car. They do a thorough job and trustworthy with your car.

I took my car into Sun Devil auto for an oil change and to investigate an oil leak. I feared the worst, an oil pan gasket or possibly a rear main seal. I was pleasantly surprised by the news that it was just an o-​ring behind my oil filter. I had made an appointment for my oil change and my car was on the rack 5 minutes after I arrived and I was out of there in no time.
I felt like I was treated well and I will continue to go to Sun Devil for all of my automobile maintenance needs.

My wife and I brought a car to this shop for a pre-​purchase inspection. Sun Devil auto was recommended by a friend of mine who owns his own shop in Mesa.
I called earlier in the morning to see if I needed an appointment. The gentleman who answered the phone was courteous and let us know we could just show up.
When we arrived, Scott (believe was his name), and I believe is the new manager, took care of us right away. He had smile on his face and we could tell he enjoys his work.
After about 40 minutes, Scott called us up and had us go out into the shop to take a look at all the little things that they wanted me to be aware of. The car checked out, despite the tiny issues.
Scott and his team were very thorough and we enjoyed the experience. Wish their shop was closer to our home.

I planned to go the next door lube shop. But had to go to SD auto repair to flush replace and get a new transmission pan. No wifi at Bell rd location so went to Mc Donald’s The parts (trans filter, gasket and new trans pan) I ordered from rock
could NOT be used (company policy) So the added cost to flush replace filter and pan of the transmission was $$$ more. I did get the vehicle back with no cracked trans pan but did have to add another quart of transmission fluid to make the dipstick at minimum level.
It was worth the three hours to save time. Money ?? It is tough to know all, do it all and just keep a vehicle active on the road. My first experience depends on the front person and the support (technicians) I will try Sun Devil auto again…

Have been taking my cars here for oil changes for many years, can’t beat having someone do your oil change for less than $ 20.
They also rotate the tires change oil filter and do a in dept inspection which is included.
The only thing they don’t do is wash your car.
Make an appointment and you are done is an hour.
Just use your judgment what needs to get fixed because they will recommend items that can wait.
Will be back again for oil change

In a serendipitous moment, I discovered Sun Devil Auto.
My wife’s Jeep needed an oil change. She didn’t care where it was taken, she just wanted to get it done and not miss time at work or kill a couple hours over the weekend. I had some free time, and decided I’d go to the nearest Jiffy Lube. It was 7:30am, and I guess I was a little tired when I parked the Jeep and accidentally walked into the Sun Devil Auto next door to the Jiffy Lube I was planning to get an oil change at. It turns out an oil change and inspection at Sun Devil is just $ 20. That’s not a type-​o. The only catch, Sun Devil only takes oil changes by appointment. I literally had all day, but fortunately they were able to see me at 9am. I killed an hour, took the Jeep back, and about another hour later it was ready to go. I got a list of recommended services for my next visit, but never got the dreaded listing of extras that I supposedly needed before this visit was over.
How fortuitous that I ended walking 20 feet to the left instead of the right. $ 20 without any sort of a coupon for an oil change. I’m good with that.
