Dr.couvaras came highly recommended by multiple people and I’m glad I followed their recommendation. He takes his time to really figure out the issue, and does not just assume the problem or shoot from the hip.
We had to do IVF procedure and his staff was truly amazing the whole way! Kara who picked up as my nurse was a breathe of fresh air who truly cares. Angie is awesome if you need IV’s, or blood drawn she is very good, jennifer is the ultrasound tech who is another sweetheart and shelina is front desk who is very prompt at getting back to you with any questions you may have. They are a great team and really helped me during the process.
Highly recommend him, without him I would not be pregnant with our little angel!

Dr John Couvaras is a brilliant and compassionate physician who has devoted his career to helping women achieve successful pregnancies. Deserving of the utmost respect in his field, and particularly by patients. This is a physician who is helping those of us in desperate infertility situations. If you are, as I have been, an infertility patient, remember to be kind and respectful to Dr Couvaras. He spent many sleepless nights and made a huge financial investment in his education and extra training to becoming an Infertility Expert. I believe in Karma. Treat those who are helping you with appreciation and respect and you might find that things tend to fall into place. Be blessable. Attitude and appreciation go a long way towards success in any endeavor. Thank you Dr Couvaras for putting up with us when we are not who we should be. You deserve our grateful respect, and I am sorry if you do not always receive it.

My husband and I were feeling very discouraged after going through unexplained consecutive pregnancy losses. My OB’s office referred us to Dr. John Couvaras and IVF Phoenix. From our first appointment we felt like Dr. Couvaras really took the time to understand our specific situation. We never felt rushed and he explained complex medical reasoning and protocol to us in a manner in which it was easily understandable. For the first time in a long time I felt like there was hope that we would be able to have the family we had been dreaming of. I underwent many tests and began with «the plan» :) (following the plan and patience are the two most important things) We put our trust in Dr. Couvaras and his team. They made us feel like we mattered and it was so helpful to be able to ask any questions that came up without feeling like a nuisance (like some Drs offices). I went in for an appointment after seeing Dr. Couvaras for roughly 7 months and I found out I was pregnant again. We were very happy but understandably nervous. Dr. Couvaras explained the next steps that we needed to take to make sure that this would be a successful pregnancy. He monitored me very closely for the first few months until he was certain that baby was ok and then released me back to my OB for continued care.
We now have a very happy and healthy baby girl. Words cannot express the gratitude that we feel for Dr. Couvaras and the team at IVF Phoenix. From start to finish, we had the absolute best experience. Thank you so much Dr. Couvaras, for making our dream of having a family a wonderful reality. I have and I will continue to recommend your services to anyone that I know who is experiencing fertility issues. We will see you again soon for round 2 :)

Adding to my previous review… as I have been forced now to defend my credibility. I fully stand by my original review and the comment back to me does not change the facts of my experience with him. People see RE’s for many reasons but ultimately, we are suffering from not being able to have children. For many, this is a very difficult time and seeing a caring doctor, who explains EVERYTHING fully is very important. That was not my experience with this doctor and once I found myself elsewhere, I am happy to report that I went on to have a beautiful, healthy baby girl. I was not attacking his reputation, just stating my personal feelings on this doctor based on my experience with him. I was a patient of his, over 7 years ago, nonetheless, a patient. I will forever remember how I was treated as will my husband.

Best practice in town! I have used Dr. Couvaras for my first and second pregnancy. He takes the time to diagnose exactly what the problem is. His office staff is great and incredibly welcoming. The knowledge this practice has and the flawless work that Dr Couvaras does completely exceeds our expectations. With years and years of experience I would trust this man with my life. I am thankful for him for my 2 ½ yr old boy and this sweet little bun in my oven.

Out of money, sad and older is all I am after only two failed cycles of IUI. Spent thousands of dollars on meds that I never even needed and can’t be returned. I felt rushed through the first cycle like it was a practice round. The second cycle showed me how poor the communication was with the staff and also that I was not one of the patients that gets to be friends with them. Shalena at the front desk was particularly insensitive. I would expect better guest service at a grocery store. They need to put themselves in their patients’ shoes and understand that for many of us this is the most difficult and stressful time in our lives. Maybe IVF Phoenix has taken on too many patients to continue what others felt was a personalized experience.
My friends who were seeing another RE while I was seeing Dr. Couvaras felt nurtured, supported and heard. They just gave birth to their son 3 days ago.

For 5 years my husband and I saw just about every infertility doctor in Phoenix and Arizona. We also tried non conventional treatments like acupuncture, etc. We were referred to Dr. Couvaras by a hospital specialist who’s wife became pregnant by Dr. Couvaras’s protocol, that same week a OBGYN also referred us to Dr. Couvaras.
I was sick of being on hormones, injections and my life revolving around my cycle and taking medications, and spending thousands of dollars on treatments that didn’t work.
My husband and I decided to make an appointment with IVF Phoenix, We met with Dr. Couvaras and were immediately impressed that his protocol was tailored to the individual and that I was a participant in my health/​fertility vs. the other infertility specialist we met with that didn’t tailor their fertility treatments and made it clear that the only involvement I had in my infertility was taking the medications that they prescribed.
I was honestly a little skeptical at first of his protocol as I had never heard another doctor talk about viruses and inflammation being a cause of infertility, but I thought it made sense and I knew this was our last attempt at any kind of fertility treatments before going to adoption.
Immediately after completing Dr. Couvaras’s protocol; I heard the best news of my life… I was pregnant. In July of 2013, I delivered my healthy, beautiful little girl.

Anybody experiencing infertility, knows how painful and costly the journey can be. My only regret is, I wish I found and called Dr. Couvaras sooner… I think I would have saved tens of thousands of dollars and many heartaches.

After twelve miscarriages one still birth in which I nearly died my sister decided to carry our baby for us. I could no longer get pregnant on my own and had done IVF when I had lost my two little girls. We had one embryo left and decided to go with Dr. Cavaress. He took such good care of my sister and she was soon carrying our little boy. After going to one appointment with her I decided I wanted to nurse my son. Soon I became a patient of Dr Cavaress. His goal was first to get me stable. After following his therapy I became pregnant, which was impossible according to all of my other Doctors and this time I carried the baby. I have two little babies two months apart. They are my miracles. Dr. Cavaress treats you like you are a individual. He thinks outside the box that everyone else seems insistent on putting you in.

I recently consulted with Dr. Couvaras seeking guidance in how to accurately diagnose and treat infertility. My partner and I have only had one meeting with Dr. Couvaras, but it is very clear from the outset, that he is not your typical fertility doctor. We started by attending his informational seminar on the weekend, where we learned about his background and approach to treating fertility, and then met with Dr. Couvaras in a follow-​up meeting.
Dr. Couvaras’ approach is based decades of research and his connection to other cutting-​edge fertility research out there. He questions and challenges traditional fertility approaches, which treat women (and men) like they are cattle to be injected with tons of hormones, to produce the most eggs and sperm. Instead, Dr. Couvaras thinks about the fertility systems as they relate to the endocrine, circulatory, nervous system, and more. He thinks not only of how to optimize (and heal) those systems so that your body can produce the most HEALTHY eggs (or sperm, if you’re a man) on its own. How novel! He is a trailblazer who believes in helping the body heal itself so that it produces, on its own, the most optimal eggs/​sperm, AND the most hospitable environment for implantation and nurturing of the embryo. I appreciate that his ethics are so strong, and that he’s not going to just do the easy and profitable route of pumping his patients full of hormones just to make it to the end goal of producing tons of eggs/​sperm, when the implantation environment may not even host the embryo!
In the past 3 – 4 years, my husband and I have sought functional and integrative approaches to healing the body for other issues. Doctors with this approach take note of symptoms as «signs» of what’s wrong with the underlying systems, rather than just treating the «signs» alone. We refused to go to traditional fertility doctors who would simply say, «well you’re over 40, you’re just going to have a more difficult time» and «now we’re going to give you a ton of hormones that will put your system out of whack but will produce a ton of eggs». No, we waited until we could see Dr. Couvaras, because we knew he would diagnose what’s going on with the underlying systems.
What I want to stress, though, is that to me, Dr. Couvaras is the cream of the crop, ie, the best doctor in the functional/​integrative medicine approach that I have ever come across! He truly redefines working on the «root cause» of the problem. He is innovative, but that innovation is based on decades of research and collaboration with other root-​cause approaches and leaders in the fertility and functional/​integrative medicine approach. He is a leader amongst leaders. His approach is data-​oriented (proper targeted lab tests, interview questions, clinical examination) and he has a very clear SYSTEMATIC approach to formulating a solid hypothesis as to the problems preventing pregnancy (or causing miscarriage). We have had other doctors who were talented functional medical doctors still get caught up in the complex web of symptoms (which is not treating the root cause!) for myself and my husband. Dr. Couvaras uses the metaphor of «whack a mole» for this phenomenon, and I feel like he was so in sync with our experience of dealing with treating chronic inflammation. I feel that because Dr. Couvaras has a really solid research and clinical experience, he will be able to use that systematic (yet flexible) approach to stay focused on treating the root cause of the problem.
My sense is that even if we cannot have a child, we will both at least be WAY more healthy than we are right now. I used to be super-​strong in my early-​mid thirties, only to see chronic inflammation cause me to become more and more restrictive with my diet and lifestyle and reduced energy. I am hopeful at the end of this process, my husband and I will at least be more healthy and energetic; but hopefully we will have a child. Even if we cannot, I will know that we will have done everything that is possible to make it happen.
I’m sorry if this review is so long, but it is a testament to a clear, systematic approach with cutting-​edge diagnostic and treatment options. There should be more doctors like Dr. Couvaras.

I believe this is the first time I’ve reviewed anyone or anything online– I had to do it. Dr. Couvaras is simply the best. If you’re reading this because you’re trying to pick the best possible Dr., you can stop your search, you’ve found him. Don’t waste any more time, pick up the phone and make an appointment. You will not be disappointed.

Hands down the best practice in town. If you are looking for a Dr. who will take the time to diagnose and treat your infertility — this is the practice. Dr. Couvaras provides a level of individualized care that is rare these days.
From the first day we met with him, we were quite confident in his approach and methodology. He spends a lot of time with each patient, and doesn’t push you into costly, unnecessary procedures. Couvaras gets to the root of your infertility and treats the cause. Beyond his highly individualized care, his staff is terrific. Being a smaller practice they always knew me by name when I called and were quick to answer my questions or concerns when I wasn’t clear about something. Someone was always available by phone when I needed help, in the evenings on the weekends — it was always easy to get in touch with them. As a bonus, Dr. Couvaras has a great sense of humor and always made me feel at ease and positive about my treatment plan.
I had been to several other practices in town before finding IVF Phoenix, and had only failed cycles at those other practices. With Couvaras, we were finally successful. I can’t say enough good things about this Dr, and his entire staff.

My story… I had been misdiagnosed with a uterine abnormality that could not be corrected, by 7 different doctors over a 15 year span. One would say I have it another would say I didn’t. Finally after 3 very painful losses I told my doctor I wanted to see a specialist in dealing with my particular abnormality.
Back-​story, I had been married for 13 years and we had been trying the entire marriage. Only 3 pregnancy’s occurred and only 1 went past 8 weeks.
I went to Dr. Couvaras, he wanted to do a US and I told him it was not necessary since I had finally been diagnosed correctly by HSG. He wanted to do one anyway, glad he did the HSG was wrong too! I had an abnormality but not the one they had all told me I had! The one I had could be fixed!!!
Long story short he fixed me and helped me and I am grateful to him and his staff for all of their time, patience, understanding and support! This is one great doctor!
