History
Established in 1995.
Fred Astaire Dance Studios have made Arizona their home for over 50 years. We are proud of our great dance heritage which began in 1947 when the master of dance himself, Mr. Fred Astaire, co-founded our company. Mr. Fred Astaire, considered to be the greatest multitalented dancer of all time, wanted to establish a chain of studios under his name to make sure that his techniques would be preserved and passed on to the public. Mr. Astaire was instrumental in the choice of dance curriculum and instructional techniques. With the opening of the first Fred Astaire Studio on Park Avenue in New York City, Fred Astaire brought his immense talent out of the glamour of Hollywood and onto the dance floors of America and the world. Today, numerous Fred Astaire Franchised Dance Studios located in cities throughout North America and internationally, are required to maintain the highest standards of excellence through our National Dance Board & Fred Astaire Dance Studios curriculum certification.
Meet the Business Owner
Antoinette B.
Business Owner
Antoinette Benevento started dancing at a very young age, and after attending the University of Nevada Reno for a career in elementary education, chose to change careers and join Fred Astaire Dance Studios. With her partner Michael Bickley, Antoinette achieved many titles as a professional ballroom dancer. During that time, she was moving up the career ladder with Fred Astaire Dance Studios — instructor, supervisor, manager, and finally owner of one of the largest and most successful studios in the Fred Astaire chain. Antoinette retired from professional dancing in 1993 and purchased the area franchise rights in Arizona, which made her the area director for Arizona. In 2002, Antoinette became National Training Director while at the same time becoming a stockholder in the national company. In 2014, she chose to give up the training director position to stay home with her family. Antoinette remains on the Board of Directors for Fred Astaire Franchised Dance Studios.
