I have been with AC by Jay for seven years. The techs are always professional, we’ll informed, and personable. This time I had Tim. He was great in all these categories. I can’t say enough good things about this company !

I called them in a bind… and they tried to take full advantage.
First, they charged me $ 135 just to drive to my place. Then they quoted by $ 1700 to fix my unit, but told me it was too old and about dead so I should replace it. Next they quoted me $ 7,000 — $ 8,000 to put in a new unit.
It felt fishy, so I called another company. The other company fixed my AC for $ 450…and told me I could get another good 5 years out of it.
Never ever use these guys.

I went to this company after a bad experience with another. I was really happy with their customer service and very pleased with their work. They did a repair and thorough a/​c maintenance. Used them for twice a year tuneup maintenance on a/​c and heater for couple years. Was happy with them until last visit on a repair on my water heater. The control box mechanism went bad, not keeping the burner lit. So had them come out to replace it after I got the manufacturer ship me a new one. The repairman seemed very nice, was explaining as he had progressed, but I didn’t watch over him since dealt with them many before no problems. Well that might have been the mistake. After awhile he got me to show & tell me what he found and done. He said everything was fixed ok, but that there might have been another problem caused by the gas hose to tank. It was slightly pinched closed but not to where it was shutting the gas off to heater, but might make it work harder that may have led to the control to go bad in first place. I don’t remember it being that way before he worked on it and it was never mentioned by the previous repairmen from them that have worked on the water heater to flush out it out. I was thinking this guy accidentally caused the pinching and couldn’t fix it so came up with this to hide the mistake. I asked and made he sealed the area to make sure no gas would leak from and he showed he did put sealant and checked for leaks. But after that, I couldn’t trust this company anymore to do work on my house again.
I even got a guy friend to look at the work and told him about the story and he agreed it was probably a mistake caused the pinching during his repair. This friend also came out to look at my water heater before I got it repaired to see if they knew what was wrong and he said he is sure the hose wasn’t like that before.
Overall, I say this company is good and reliable, but as the customer and owners of the appliances they are working on you are to be just as good in being vigilant in ensuring the repairs are to be done to your satisfaction. I blame myself for not watching the whole time and I blame the repairman for not owning up to their mistake. It would have been fine if was owned up because it wasn’t a bad problem and he did make sure wasn’t gonna be a problem like no gas going where it needed to go or blowing me up. Got to have trust and make it right, so that’s why they lost my business.

I have a 35-​year-​old house and I have tried many air-​conditioning maintenance companies I was out visiting my girlfriend in Cavecreek and she used air conditioning by Jay. I need new I need to have my air conditioning in service but the last time I had them service I tried to sell me $ 15,000 worth of equipment, this was a night and day experience with the technician CAREY, he spent a lot of quality time checking out both of my units were which were about 28 years old I’ve had some modifications to them and he was just amazing what excellent condition they are he did his 25 –150 step process whatever it was he spent a lot of time here .
I can’t say enough good things about air-​conditioning by Jay and now I have no problem keeping my house at 78° and it’s working like a charm thank you air-​conditioning by Jay

I have had AC by J do multiple jobs at my house. The first one went seemingly well, a minor repair on my tub faucets. So I called them again. This time it was for a major undertaking with a slab leak in our bathroom. In this particular case, there were many components to the repair i felt like I had to stay with AC with J — even though I thought the price quotes they gave me were expensive — I did not have the time to shop around for other quotes.
The next occasion was also under duress. One Saturday morning I woke up to find both of my kitchen sinks full of water — meaning my line was clogged and backed up from my laundry room (washer), past the dishwasher to my sinks. Just the day prior I had had a locating company come out and locate and mark exactly where my clog was — although at the time it was still partly working. I thought I would wait until after I went out of town for the holidays to shop around and get quotes. When the sink clogged up, I called AC by J and was told they would be out after 3. By 630 I called and was told that the tech had just left. Sure. When Victor came out he quoted me a «discounted rate» of $ 2750 to dig down 12″ through the soil in my back yard, cut out a 6′ section, replace it and install clean outs. I was so upset! I let my hubby handle it. Due to a couple of other circumstances we had no other choice but to have them do the work the next day Sunday (yeah, the worked on the weekend. I would to for that kind of money). They finished the work and it seems to be working fine.
However, I have another clogged line, lucky me. Again, already located and marked by someone else. This time it is 26″ underneath a concrete slab. THIS time I am going to get 3 quotes and see what I get.
The first plumber came out and gave me a quote of $ 1722.35, $ 1080 of that was for the CONCRETE work (saw cut and replace).
The second quote was from DW Plumbing. Patrick spent an hour with me, reviewing the video from the locating service and discussing options with me. Wow!!! Options? I have options? No one else said I had options!
Then, just for fun, I had AC by J come out and give me a quote. Victor came back, looked at the concrete slab, said he had to talk to his concrete company and that he had promised my hubby a discount after the last $ 2750 job. An hour later I got the estimate via email. Want to guess what the «Discounted» price for the work UNDER the slab was? $ 3100.
I contacted AC by J with all of my price quotes for the work and asked them to refund part of my moneys paid for the work in December on the kitchen line — that I felt that they had «disgustingly overcharged» me. You can guess what that got me.
So, this is definitely one of those Buyer Beware Notices. They do respond reasonably quickly — which if you are in a pinch and you don’t care about pinching your pennies — go for it. However, if you are of the more frugal mind set and work hard for your money, then don’t even bother getting a quote from them because they are going to blow you out of the water.

If I could give no stars, I would. This company installed a new AC unit for $ 6,000 and there have been multiple issues. They came out 4 times the couple days after install, constantly sending a different tech that had no idea what was going on with the unit and the issues were not resolved. After getting an inspection on the property the AC was installed at, the inspector found that not only was the unit not installed properly, the wiring was completely boched and not up to code. We had a different AC guy come out after the inspection to fix the issues and he let us know that after Jay (original owner of AC by J) sold the company the quality if workmanship has drastically declined. The techs at AC by Jay told me it would cost $ 1000 to rewire the unit, our AC guy charged $ 185 and he also found that they didn’t even add freon for the heating unit. I’ve also been told that they pay their employees to write positive reviews on Unilocal.This company is a joke and I would not recommend them.

We had exceptionally great customer service by Chris from AC by J. He made a house call to check our broken AC at midnight and then came back the next day to help us out again. Very thorough, friendly and professional. You can count on these guys, they will accommodate their clients and that’s hard to come by these days in customer service. Five stars for technician, Chris and AC by J!

These guys saved our night last night… our A/​C went out late last night and they came out at 1:30am to fix it had everything done with in the hour we ended up having to replace the whole motor… Service was every prompt and professional even at 130am on a Saturday night! Thanks AGAIN!

I have used AC by Jay for both services and one installation. I have used them on four different properties now. I have always been happy with their customer service, honesty and the skillset of the technicians. Most recently on 4÷23÷14, we had Manny Barceló perform an inspection of two ac units on a house we were looking to purchase. We were thrilled with the detail of his inspection and the very thorough report he put together for us. We will continue to count on AC by Jay for our properties and will definitely recommend them to others.

We have had only excellent service from AC by J, including a technician showing up today to re-​light the pilot on the water heater. We called this morning, scheduled for this afternoon, and the problem was resolved earlier than expected. We originally called to have our AC unit serviced close to a year ago. This was based on a recommendation from my uncle, who has used AC by J for years. Carey Johnson (technician #408) was extremely helpful in determining an issue with the thermostat and the breaker. The charge was reasonable for the work done, and we decided to sign up for ComfortCare. This gives us peace of mind and AC by J has delivered service over and above on two other occasions, including today. We highly recommend them.

I feel totally ripped off and taken advantage of. I wish I would have read the reviews first. As another Unilocaler stated they will bend you over good.

Can’t say enough nice things about the quality and professionalism of AC by J. I don’t jut use them for maintenance on my air conditioners but also have a plumbing contract with them where annually, they have a plumbing technician (this time was Tim C) come out, drain the water heater and check the house plumbing to make sure everything was okay. Tim was exceedingly well mannered and polite and provided a level of consideration that created a delightful customer service experience. He not only drained my water heater but also reset my water softener for me (I did not know it was out of sync). He also took the time to explain how the seals worked in in my Kohler toilets as opposed to less expensive water closets and how the seals in mine were chlorine resistant which creates a longer life for my toilet systems.
Once again, lovely customer service experience, I’ve had no problems with either they AC or plumbing system they have not been able to address. :-)

AC By J — relable, efficient and friendly. Manny B. has helped us a couple of times for AC and furnance maintenance. He is always very straightforward, helpful and a pleasure to work with. I have no complaints and am happy to be a regular user and comfort club client. They show up when they are supposed to, and always call in advance.

Terrible! I paid the $ 89 for them to come out and give me a quote. I was quoted around 2 grand in repairs, and told «If it were my machine I wouldn’t both, I’d just buy a new one» (Let me have a salesmen call you. ball park $ 4500 – 5000) YEAH RIGHT!
Needless to say I got a 2^nd quote, and was charged $ 400 for the total repair bill.

I have used A/​C by Jay for many of my clients a/​c needs. One tech lied about the work he performed at one clients home. On another call to a different client, they diagnosed the system without even checking the freon level or checking the load on the compressor. After many failed attempts with their company, I have finally found a very reliable, trustworthy and professional company with Precision A/​C. Laith Hensley came out and now he is my go to guy at Precision a/​c. It was very disappointing to put faith in A/​C by Jay for so long to have them consistently fail me. I did share my concerns with the office and they said they would have someone call me to address my concerns. To date, I have not received a call.

Lesson should have been learned when the receptionist said «the sales representative will be there …». Sales person? So, expecting they need to make money too I knew it would be me paying that.
The sales rep came, was surprisingly very knowledgable and gave good advice. I already knew what was wrong with my unit and had a quote from another, much smaller company.
I received my quote later that day and I almost $&i@ my pants. They were $ 800 more than I had been quoted by the other company!
They were not pushy, very smart but unreasonable in price. I ended up going to my original quote who was awesome! Ive had him here two times and he is very smart, responsive and competitive/​reasonable. Robert Schiller AC if you were interested.
Too bad ac by jay was too much. If they were like $ 100 more I would have paid it. Not now, I have a great ac man!

It’s so sad when you trust people and think that they’re doing right by you to find out they’re not. This is AC by Jay.
We’ve used them for many years to do the bi-​annual maintenance work on two homes and my commercial business. They would come to each, go up into the attic and say «everything is fine, we’ll see you in six months».
One of the homes has a room that gets no air — literally, and we asked our maintenance man «What can we do to get air to this room»? He responded «Nothing. You may want to put in a ceiling fan to help, other than that you have to live with it».
Jump ahead 2 years, everything’s the same but now I need a new AC system due to age. We called in a few different companies to get some proposals and we were blown away by what we heard. All the other companies said that the reason there’s no air getting to the front room is because there’s a kink in the duct and many air leaks throughout. «Can it be fixed»? «Yes, we need to put in a new plenum and it will be fine».
We called our company, AC by Jay and they had nothing to say. Really what could they say? Sorry would be a good start, how can we make this right? But we didn’t get any of that they tried to say it was our fault because nobody noted that we were having problems on our account.
Don’t get me started — Even if I never mentioned that I don’t get any air in the front room they should have said «hey you’ve got a kink and leaks in your system which may be decreasing your air to the front room». Makes sense since this is why you pay for maintenance.
The topper to all of it; So AC by Jay suggested that we put up a ceiling fan. The room didn’t have an outlet to do so and we had to call an electrician to come out and install one for us. That cost us $ 500 and then the fan was another $ 250. Now we find out from all these other companies that having a fan does not help the situation, if anything it makes the room hotter because it’s using a motor. It’s exactly what you don’t want to do!
Bottom line: AC by Jay has not only taken money from us when they didn’t provide the service but they cost me even more money ($ 750) because they advised me to get the fan that ultimately was adding to the problem.
We still have not heard anything from AC by Jay.
