3 Palms

About the only thing going for this place was the free Wi-​Fi. The Wi-​Fi is not fast, but certainly more than enough to get basic browsing and work done.
My room was not particularly clean. I know for example that someone in the room before me loved almonds, and the ants are still loving the bits of Almonds that can be found around the room. On the topic of «clean», make sure you pack all your toiletries — all of them, including a bar of soap. My room didn’t have a single bar of soap!
Overall, I’m not overly surprised because this was a cheap hotel, but it’s definitely no better than a 1 star in my books.

being told it was equivalent to a Hyatt or Hilton. We checked in earlier and were going to try and make it work, but after a few encounters with other hotel quests that I would not want my kids around, we left. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful (5 stars for them) and refunded or money through Priceline.
The rating system for hotels is broken if this hotel is rated 3.5 or 4 stars! There needs to be better quality control of the system and some higher standards to back it up. 1 star for the false advertising, but 5 stars for he helpful front desk worker who refunded our money!

We booked through expedia, where the reviews were pretty decent. Upon arriving, a desk attendant had a personal phone call on speaker phone, and had an emotional breakdown (sorry for him but very unprofessional).
After FINALLY being checked in, we got to our room. The door was obviously kicked in, at the right angle someone could practically look inside.
The toilet was dirty, the shower curtain appeared to be backwards, and the blow dryer was broken. The loud aircondition does not turn off and our room was freezing…
We ended up deciding not to stay the night after realizing the trust that ANYTHING was clean was completely gone. Was the bed clean? Likely not if they couldn’t even clean the toilet or notice the broken door.
We left and stayed at the Hyatt place in tempe, which was still affordable and a million times better than the 3 palms.
Warning, this hotel (3 palms) is «independent» and can call itself a hotel, but it was definitely a low class MOTEL. if you’re accostomed to cheap motels, this is fine, if you prefer decent hotels, keep looking!

Horrible customer service. Never have had such bad experience. Id rather go to the DMV then deal with this hotels staff.

BED BUGS. Save yourself from possibly going through what I did.
I traveled a lot and never did I think that i would have to deal with bed bugs. I was supposed to stay here for 2 weeks (before I could move in to my apartment here for school) and I left after 4 days. My bite marks started to come up about 2 days in to my stay but It was one here, one there, untill day 3 when all the bites showed itself. I checked under the bed, the headboard but couldn’t physically see anything. I did not realize the ink dots on the sheets were a sign of bed bugs. It’s been almost a month and I still have the marks that now look like small bruises. Bites on my neck, arms and legs. It’s pretty hot in Phoenix right now and i can’t wear shorts because the marks are still visible.
Anyways back to the hotel, The cleaning ladies are sweet because I would be in the room studying when they came to clean my room. However, they NEVER switch my bed linens. They just made the bed. The location is nice, swimming pool is small but pleasant to hang out at. The staff was nice… but when I came to them about the bed bugs, they talked to me like they didn’t believe me until i showed them a picture of the bug I found crawling on the bed. I left to another hotel right away. I did not get any refunds for any of the nights i stayed there. I didn’t expect them to give me a refund of the nights i stayed there but I also did not get any refunds for the money it took to get my belongings bed bug free. I contacted them but nothing. I had to go buy so many sprays, creams, and my car detailed (they got loose in my car from my north face backpack (i’m guessing).
I’m now in my apartment, bed bug free (no new bites after I left this hotel) but the stay at this hotel made my last month miserable and sleepless.

It’s a great hotel… Rooms are a little small but perfect! The pool is beautiful… And right next to the hotel, across a small street is a park and skatepark! Sweet dude!!!

The room was ok but the pool was great! Customer service could definitely be improved upon. The employees seemed to be bored and inconvenienced by customers basic inquiries.

Stayed here for one evening. Check in was smooth and easy! Ben was awesome and very welcoming. He shows interest in each customer he is dealing with! First time visiting Arizona and he had good advice on the area. The hotel was pretty clean only problem was the outside light never tired off later in the evening so it felt like we had a night light. Very refreshing pool. Would return again!

I would refer to 3 Palms as «ghetto boutique». They tried for the boutique look and came up very short. The 5 days we stayed, housekeeping was hit and miss (some days they didn’t even leave us towels), the front desk staff was new and not properly trained on the computer systems, making working with them on anything virtually impossible. The beds are very soft, and not in a good way. There is no restaurant on site, although they share a parking lot with one that they try to send people to. The walls are not very well insulated, causing you to hear everything going on in the rooms on either side. We were away from the hotel during the day time every day, and did enjoy sitting on the second floor balcony in the evenings, which may have been the hotel’s only redeeming quality. I would not stay here again because we definitely didn’t get what we paid for ($ 140/​night).

We ended up here as we got a deal and it was close enough to Old Town. The staff here were very friendly and the pool area is solid. They have a bar manned by the restaurant across the way which is great. The sun is also always shining on the pool and if not there is an upper deck you can layout on.
The restaurant in front of the hotel (7’s Bistro) is pretty amazing and you get a $ 5 off coupon when you checkin to use at your leisure.
It’s about 2.5 miles from Old Town and we walked down in the late afternoon and felt safe. We took a Lyft back and it ran is about $ 8. So it’s super easy to get around.
It’s not a 4 Star hotel but I don’t think it is a 3 Star so I’m giving this place a 3.5. I’d stay here again.

Our stay here was less then satisfactory. When we returned to our room after being out all day had not been restocked with towels or cleaned, thankfully the bed was made! This is not a quite stay, ever flush next door was heard, voices next door was loud & clear, 3am people were talking outside, this is not a hotel, it’s a gigantic Motel Wouldn’t stay here again. Don’t stay here if you want to sleep.

My friend and i decided to stay here on a spontaneous trip to Arizona. The room was so clean, cozy and comfortable. Three things most people would appreciate. It was a tad smaller than I envisioned but that didn’t matter much. There’s a nice pool that is a good size. The wifi from the room we were in was strong and easy to access. If you’re looking for a nice place to stay in Scottsdale go here!

Stayed there, well only for a few hours. I brought my Therapy Dog (who is very Ill) with me because we like to try different boutique hotels in Scottsdale. This hotel was grossly Miss-​represented. It looked like a dump when we got there but looked so beautiful online. Where is the boutique hotel they are listed as??? The room was so small, even my dog was uncomfortable. The room smelled like cigarette smoke even though it said «non-​Smoking» room. Bo Valet. No room service either. There was a park across the street with a lake. I asked at the front desk if their were ducks (my dog loves ducks) and when we walked across the street, the grass was all dirt, the lake looked so gross like it swallowed up all the ducks (I think we saw only 2 sickly looking ducks) and there was some kind of golf frisbee tournament going on. People kept yelling at us that we were in their way while we were walking. What? It’s a public, city park and It’s open to everyone! We couldn’t walk anywhere so we gave up.
After about 3 hours in the room of my dog pacing and both of us feeling cramped so we left. The air would not go below 71 and it was hot and stuffy. I’m so glad we left.
I didn’t feel safe especially after reading other Unilocal reviews about Prostitutes hanging around outside and employees walking in someone’s room… twice! Wish I read the reviews before. I’m going to fight the charge with my credit card co. I would not recommend this place even though it’s centrally located near Old Town. I assumed it would safe but did not feel safe at all. Now I know why the room was so cheap!
****the front office was the weirdest check in layout I’ve ever seen (a bunch of regular office desks thrown together) but the Manager was nice the other employees looked like they were scared of her and were very, very quiet.

This was kind of an unexpected find. I was perusing local hotel rooms for $ 100-​$ 150 and this one popped up. I was not the payer or booker but I did enjoy the stay! Yes, the rooms are smaller and kind of average as far as amenities but they have been nicely updated and HULLOH there was a whirlpool bath in our room! Bath salts provided, get some shampoo (or bubbles if you actually bring them) and it’s actually pretty nice! The décor is chic and the the grounds were nice. The bed was horrible so bring your ibuprofen. I got up at 5 am from the pain in my back to take a hot shower but for a nice moderately priced hotel, this one gets a nod from me. It’s close to Old Town so we went to dinner and then the store for beer on the way back. Couldn’t really figure out the HBO or cable so much but watching TV in my room is not a top priority for me anyway. Before we checked in, we sat at 7s Bistro next door and had a glass of wine. I’d stay there again. Not bad.

and now I know why. Well, the grounds are perfectly fine; nothing fancy or messy, just average. Rooms have nice décor but small. Our door was sticky, had to kick the bottom pretty hard to get in. Also, only reason they got 2 stars was for a decent gym with free cold water.
BUT — this place is way understaffed and mostly disinterested. They weren’t rude, just bleh… and there was glitches, like our keys unprogramming every day and the Lobby staff being dry with us about it. Also telling us the whole hotel was booked so couldn’t offer us another small chair for the room even tho ¾ of the parking spots were empty. Phone customer service not great either. Just overall, the place isn’t solid and I’d never stay here again. Very glad we didn’t pay full price.
Not terrible but definitely not feel good experience.

Here for a week on a family thing. The pool was under construction or rehab. Looks like great potential when completed.
Room was fine. We had two carry on cases but the room was set up for one. So things on the floor etc. Serviceable.
There is a bistro in walking distance and anything else with a minute or two by car.

This place is only getting 5 starts for Ben’s AMAZING customer service. Our rom was extremely over priced for what we got. And don’t expect to use the pool or hot tube cause well it just doesn’t exists here. Was completely empty.
Checking in to our hotel was the only God experience we had! Was so refreshing to finally have customer service. Someone who wanted to make sure I had a great stay. He helped us with the area and made suggestions on a few places to go. 5 starts to you Ben. Wish you lived in San Diego. I would have offered you a job and stolen you from here!

Very poor customer service. Had to wait (every time) we went to the front desk. The woman at the front desk’s family (child and seemingly boyfriend) were always lounging around in the lobby. It is 100% a low end motel but is not advertised as such.
I called ahead to ensure the other person traveling with me would be able to check in (as he was arriving 6 hours before me). When he arrived they turned him away because he did not have our credit card with him. They wouldn’t take the number over the phone, nor would they accept a $ 500 cash deposit. They refused to let him check in until I arrived at 10pm that night.
The room was noisy, not dark at night, ugly décor, and had trashy surroundings.
The furniture in the room was covered in what appears to be years of dust, but the bed seemed clean.
The key routinely stopped working requiring is to walk all the way to the other side of the building to wait in line at the front desk and get it re-​programmed. For the $ 90/​night we should have stayed at a Marriott Courtyard or something like that.

A hotel that has potential but falls short on service. The price was very competitive and the location was convenient to ASU and other popular areas within the Phoenix/​Scottsdale area. Nice pool. Our 2 queen room was adequate but a little tight on closet space.
Adjacency to the greenway was scenic and made for a nice place to go running/​walking. Bring your frisbee golf gear or your skateboard as both are offered just a walk across the street.
Don’t expect a quick response or a response at all if you call the front desk. Definitely have to walk to the office if you want to assure your request will get the attention it needs.

I booked directly online; there were no better rates on any website. They do lock an additional $ 100 on your card for incidentals, but I have never had a problem with fast unlock after checkout.
On arrival I was greated at the front by the plain-​clothes guard ducks. They were chill and casual, more like Secret Service that standard uniform rent-​a-​cops. I never felt scrutinized or stared at when I got out of my vehicle and went into the lobby. Nice.
Check in (and out) was smooth and pleasant. Kudos to the patient and professional desk clerk who had to deal with the two 20-​something Backpage girls who cursed loudly because Expedia had screwed up and accepted their shady cash load card incorrectly, and then expected the 3 hotel clerks to either make it right or contact Expedia and sort it all out for them. shm.
The Deluxe King Whirlpool room was great. Plenty of space, clean, nicely appointed. The whirpool tub was wonderful. It has with plenty of room for 2 – or even 3 if that’s what you are into – and was situated close to the king bed. Nice. You can actually sit in the tub and watch the big screen TV, except that with the jets running it can be hard to hear the surround sound system unless it is cranked up. But who wants to be interupted by a complaint knock at the door?
The bed was firm, comfortable and appropriately responsive to normal bouncing. The towels are good sized and reasonably soft; perfect to double as an extra layer on top of the bedsheet. When it’s very hot outside the ac unit near the bed will be running full time. It does a good job although a be a bit noisy, but not too bad. You just need to be close to someones ear when you whisper. My room was by the pool and I was not disturbed by the people in it. No one complained that we were disturbing them.
The off season price is OUTSTANDING. between $ 50 and $ 80 depending, That is the reason for the 5 STARS. If had to pay a full $ 300 peak seaon rack rate I might say 3.5 star? But bottom line is 3 Palms is my go to place for a room in Scottsdale.
