Virgo Rising

Stopped in for a quick visit during a little Crystal hunt my cousin and I decided on, and we stumbled upon this cute and quaint little place. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner of the shop, Karen, and she was absolutely darling. A friendly hello from the start is always a great way to start off the experience, and she had good energy radiating off her. The store is very well garnished with all the beautiful merchandise from clothing, to crystals, jewelry, candles, etc. I walked out with two crystals at a reasonable price, and walked out very happy. Karen was very lovely to talk to, and she makes you feel good about what you purchase. This place is definitely worth a visit to. I’d ignore the previous and outdated Unilocal reviews. People tend to be petty when they don’t get what they want, at least that’s what the previous reviews sound like to me. That or we’re all just being sensitive and irrelevant to the real experience of the business. Thank you Karen for the wonderful experience!

I really enjoyed visiting Virgo Rising. The owner was very friendly and helpful. For a small shop, they have a nice variety of products. I left with some beautiful incense and a gorgeous handmade dreamcatcher. Worth the visit if you are in the area!

I really enjoyed coming into this store yesterday and although I did not buy anything, I plan to come back and do so. The clerk, a blond lady that reminded me of Stevie Nicks, was very talkative and kind. The clothing in this store is unique and elegant. I particularly liked the jewelry. The pendents with stones set in them are the best deal at this store in my opinion at being around $ 30 to $ 50. I saw amethysts, druzies, and more with all of them set in sterling silver. On the second story, there are sale items at 20% off.
As I have read some of the poor reviews of this store, I have one point to share here. I have not yet met the owner but I think I would understand why she may not like children in her store. This store is just a small building with so many items everywhere you look. Many of the items are fragile. Children are curious about everything and want to touch things. And sometimes children run around in stores. This store would definitely not be a good place for any of that and there are parents who are not good at supervising their children. I am not saying that all children would misbehave but some may and some may break items by accident.

— as there is a lot of glass and breakable items here for sale, I would not recommend bringing children to this store

I had an extremely positive experience in this beautiful local store. The products were wonderful, there was a great selection despite the small shop, the owner was warm and friendly and we had an amazing conversation about all kinds of soulful subjects.

I’ve been to this shop several times and always have a great experience. The owner Karen has always been very nice and helpful. I always find something unique and have gotten Christmas gifts for friends and family that they still talk about. A great store! I would definitely recommend Virgo Rising!

I love this store. My husband and I live in Fremont but lease an RV space in Felton. We come up for nice weekend getaways. I know that the owner was not as pleasant as she is now when she was waiting on her surgery as I know she was in a lot of pain. She also mentioned that when her store was located in Felton there were several occasions when people stole from her.
I just want to say, I always pop in and find something cool everytime. I bring my friends and family to the store when I pop in and they all have loved it. I LOVE the unusual silver pendants in the store… I just purchased a really cool fountain for my office last weekend and have purchased many blouses from the store over the years, which i am ALWAYS complimented on.
I truley feel bad that people have bad experiences in this store, as I think the owner is simply trying to earn a living. I also had a BLAST going to a phsychic in the store. Just a fun thing to do that was on my bucket list.
I seriously don’t know the owner personally AT ALL, but I think you people need to cut her some slack and go in with a new attitude. She really is very nice and has lots to talk about. Love the store and will continue coming for my special little treasures.

I like other Unilocalers, also encountered a rude older lady upon coming into this small shop. I came looking specifically for a dream catcher to add onto a gift for a friend. BIG MISTAKE!!! This lady didn’t smile or anything upon my arrival, in fact I got the vibe she was an overworked grumpy employee, not a welcoming owner trying to establish business in a new location.
As mentioned in other reviews the woman is constantly afraid people are going to steal from her and she keeps her eyes on you like a hawk making the environment uncomfortable… Like I really want to pocket some handmade jewelry and ridiculous dragon statues… Lady nobody is gunna steal your stuff!
Next, I politely ask if the price on an item was correct because it seemed in my opinion a little steep, and she looked like she wanted to tackle me to the ground replying «YES, OBVIOUSLY» with an eye roll and super rude sigh. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
Clearly multiple people feel your negativity and frankly it just makes you want to leave! I guess some people shouldn’t work with the public. Stop bein so damn mean!
I also find if funny that this woman replies to these completely ACCURATE experiences people post on Unilocal accusing them all of being competing businesses and not «real» people. Guess paranoia is just part of this womans daily life. Guess everyone is just out to get ya! lol

I love shopping here whenever I get the chance! A great place to buy gifts for family and friends who are fun-​loving and creative types. The owner has excellent taste and everything is reasonably priced. My family and friends always LOVE the gifts I have gotten from Virgo Rising. Clothing, jewelry, games, knick knacks, hanging décor (for my own house). There is so much more. Another nice thing is that every time you go in there is new stuff to look at. I also love the new location in Scotts Valley.

The bad reviews here are troubling to see, and wrong besides. The owner of the store has always been welcoming and nice to me. Scotts Valley residents are pretty much all «conservative christians» who have no tolerance for these New Age shops. They just want to put her out of business becuse she sells things like Tarot Cards and the like.
I encourage anyone with a love for these kinds of shops to support her. Ignore those few reviews that slander her for what she sells, it’s silly and un-​christian.
I only left four stars instead of five because her inventory has been shifted to appeal to these Scotts Valley type people. There’s not a huge amount of the «witchy» things I adore any more.

I love this shop. I went in to find my mom a birthday present and I found the most beautiful earrings which were priced extremely well. I also found so many interesting things to look at… I think I could have spent over an hour there. I am disappointed anyone would write a negative review because I found the owner to be extremely accommodating and helpful. Plus, one of my best friends remembers the store fondly from when she was little. This store is a community staple and we are lucky to have it.

I have to agree with others here. I have also been in her shop and she was very rude. I also had my child with me who she hovered over everywhere we went in the store. She also stated to me that she didn’t like children. I will never shop here.
To the person who thinks everyone that has posted a review that is also not happy are a bunch of whining complainers, that is what Unilocal is for. For people to give their opinions and that is exactly what we are doing. It is fact.

The owner of this wonderful little shop has excellent taste. The markups are low, things are reasonably priced and there are extensive selections of all things magical. The store will be moving soon to Scotts Valley Kings Village. I not only plan to support this local small business owner but to return to her new place (next to the locksmith in Nob Hill shopping center) as often as my budget will allow! Kudos on keeping a business alive for so long and in this rough economy. You are obviously doing something right!

Just a little update on my last review. I went back, once again, for a gift last minute on my way to a wedding. I found EXACTLY what I wanted at a fair price and they even wrapped it for me! I just love this place. Like I told my husband, I wish I could say «I’ll take one of everything»!

December 2012 Update– this little shop moved and took one of the A-​Frame businesses in King’s Village Shopping Center (Mt. Hermon Road, across from the Burger-​King, and Safeway, and in the same parking lot as Nob Hill Foods).
My husband, who always finds a wonderful gift in this store, told me I would love the shop and enjoy chatting with its owner Karen Diamond. Indeed, he was right. I finally went into this tiny little place that sells, tiny glass wind chimes; beaded gourds; «groovy» clothing, crystals; gemstone work; jewelry; books; oracle decks; incense; stained glass pieces; painted rocks, etc. etc.
This tiny store boasts a surprisingly extensive inventory. Anybody can count on successful gift-​finding there; there’s something for everybody, as well as a range of prices, which gives those who are a bit poor of wallet a chance to splurge, also. If you have $ 5 in your pocket you can take home something cool.
Several reviews here largely sound whining, and/​or personal, mean attacks on the owner, for motives, I’d guess, other than their experiences in the store. People in small towns can get weird; I am sorry that sometimes it’s a «bad weird» and not a good one. I find it in very poor taste. Two of these negative evaluations read so similarly that I suspect they have been written by the same disturbed person.
I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Karen, and will most certainly return to this welcoming little treasure box.

I am, frankly AMAZED that this shop is able to stay open for any length of time, but there it is.
THE most unpleasant, unfriendly, mean, surly, and otherwise paranoid individual I’ve EVER come across in the retail market. ANYWHERE!
As one reviewer already pointed out she can’t stand children, and her bad attitude is evident just by coming to the front door and reading the multitude of signs on not stealing, etc. But of course once you have stepped inside the door be prepared for the full force of her negativity. «What do you want?» Yes, she really said that to me and my daughters.
The energy/​feeling here is just awful, save yourself the bother and hassle and go across the street to Mountain Spirit instead! In fact go ANYWHERE instead of this shop, no matter what you are looking for.

Crystals, incense and cards. Very unwelcoming signs on the door warning you not to steal. The owner is unpleasant and does not like children. Everything out of her mouth is a complaint or snide. She badmouths the other businesses in town.
It’s just the most odd juxtaposition — a negative lady running a crystal chakra store.
I really wanted to support this local business but her rudeness and bad vibe just drove me away.

Very helpful and friendly owner, very supportive of «goddess sized» women. She helped me find clothes that would fit and offered to order more of the styles I like. I’ve never had anything but positive experiences here. It is not a place to bring small children, I would imagine, as there are many small shiny pretty things at child-​level.

Whenever I come to visit beautiful Felton, it’s not complete without a stop to browse and buy at the lovely and eclectic store Virgo Rising. The owner Karen is a gracious and helpful hostess. The store has many unique and beautiful items. I highly recommend this store! Buy Local!

Went in here once. The locals know the owner as the crazy lady. She gets to the point and is very much into her crystals. I went there to purchase a mermaid sun catcher, it is very pretty. Check this place out, cause it is an adventure in itself.
