This is your local quality mechanic that knows you and your car and is so hard to find these days. They are reasonably priced and do a great job. Don’t listen to a negative review of a one time complainant. I’ve been going there for 12 years and they handle everything from engine rebuilds to break jobs and it’s a family run operation that you will always feel like you got straight talk from. I’ve had emergency dead batteries and they’ve been over in 15 mins for a jump and replacement. I won’t go anywhere else.

I have enjoyed having my car serviced at Nisky Tire for nearly 20 years, basically since I started driving. I have sought their advice on the smallest issues such as burnt out windshield wiper blades, all the way up to getting major repairs and recommendations for body shops due to deer impacts and other car accidents. The staff here is extremely resourceful and due to their location in Niskayuna, they see all types of cars in their shop, from daily drivers up to high end exotics, as a result they have worked on pretty much every kind of car and can advise & repair accordingly. Also has full service Sunoco gas, free air and waiting area with wifi.

We had a minivan stall and began to show signs of smoke from the engine bay. The oil was gone as AAA towed it to the nearby location, Niskayuna Tire. After a couple of days, they revealed it would take over $ 1000 of work to diagnose and fix the problem. After a phone consultation with another location, we decided to have it towed from Niskayuna Tire. Come to find out, the part that was damaged only cost about $ 100, labor of $ 90, new oil and filter $ 35 and its running like new. It does appear this place will overcharge and not fully describe what is in need for repairs. However, they do a good business as cars are serviced there, including the local police and television stations. Might explain why my taxes are too high…

This is your neighborhood mechanic here– we have taken our vehicles here for years for oil changes, inspections, tires, and advice. They seem honest, hardworking, and competent. I can call them anytime with questions, and they are available. We like the early hours, and they are close enough for us to drop off the car and walk home.

I would NOT recommend taking you car here for a repair. Owner Glen has very bad communication skills and never calls you to update, even when promised.
I took a car back after an unsuccessful repair (to make sure they hooked everything up correctly) and he charged me for 1 hour labor (which is $ 90/​hour = same as dealerships) without calling and confirming with me.
Early in the process I wanted to take the car out of there, but was convinced by one of Niskayuna Tire employees that they will take care of it and if they confirm the replacement part, it would be around 180. After calling Glen the next day, he quoted over $ 500 with labor.
