DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY
Yesterday I called ahead to schedule an oil change and alignment. Made the appointment for 5pm and eas told it would be about an hour and a half.
Came a few minutes early, dropped my car off amd walked over to the mall.
When I return to pick up my care almost 2 hours later, I was told that the alignment could not be done.
I was not called to be notified my car was done or that the alignment could not be done.
I was told it would be $ 40 for the part to allow the alignment, but it was 7 and they were closed. If I had been notified right away, I would of had them do it.
Took the car to another mechanic today, and they were able to complete the alignment.
They have either uneducated or lazy mechanics here.
I was also overcharged by $ 10 for the oil change.
Won’t even think of going here again.

I was driving down Golf Rd. when my brakes started grinding. After practically rolling into Sears Auto Center, I needed help right away. Although it was nearly closing time, the guys at Sears inspected the brakes and replaced the front brake pads/​rotors right away — saving me from having to leave the car and take a taxi to/​from where I was staying. Both the service managers and the mechanic were friendly and helpful. Excellent service at a fair price — and I checked their price quote against average repair prices using an online app. This is the 2^nd Sears Auto location (had oil change at the Fox Valley location) that I’ve used in the past 6 months and both experiences were great, so they’ve earned my future business!

Stopped in today (brakes started making noises and wanted to make sure they were safe before a 6 hour drive tomorrow). Staff was unhelpful, rude, and spent 5 minutes explaining how busy they were. Two people standing around in an empty store does not seem busy to me. Thanks for the help Sears… Have never used your auto service center and after today will not be back.

I booked an appointment for oil change with maintenance inspection, fluid replacement, tire alignment check at 3PM on Sat. I had to wait for 15 mins for service associate to come and he in his rude tone (may be professional for them) said you need to wait here and someone will come to you. Finally after awhile another guy came with bunch of papers noted down my car details and said the car would be ready in 2 hours. Surprisingly after just 15 mins he came back saying the car is ready. All right I should be happy its that quick but REALLY eveything done in just 15 mins which was supposed to take 2 hours. I doubt if they really did inspection check.
I would never go there again after this experience.

Went to the woodfield location at 2:45pm. Wasnt helped till almost 3pm. No people on the sales floor, had to walk into garage to get service… No cars in the joint, and told 1 hour for an oil change… car went in at 3:02pm and at 4 o’clock car was still not up on the rack, to be worked on. So I asked the service assistant if they were going to work on my car today and he says, we have appointments with customers that have to be worked on. so i say ur full of it knowing and watching 6 techs socializing amongst themselves… The excuse was they laid off seven people in their garage. They didnt finish my car till 4:45 when i left after pushing for a discount which they did for $ 15.00… Total amount was $ 20… Thier loss too. So sad because there is alot of competition out there. Wont go back…

I recently had to replace a part on my car and Phil at Sears was great in sourcing the part I needed and also offered me a very competitive price to have it installed. I’ll be honest there are a couple of staff members who are clueless and a bit incompetent to deal with on the phone but generally I’ve never had a bad experience working with these guys. Ask for Phil he knows what he’s talking about & will do a great job in helping you out. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

I wish there was a lower rating … The part ($ 103 retail) was inflated to $ 150 and labor was inflated as well– removing 4 bolts and attaching a pipe (not welding they don’t have a welder) 30 – 40 min to 3 hours.

Hi my name is Sarah and I like a good deal. When my oil light went on, I knew it was time to start looking for deals on savings sites. Before I even started looking there was a deal put out by Sears for a $ 12.99 oil change & tire rotation for Father’s Day! Perfect because I also needed a tire rotation. Bam! Score!
I tried making an appointment online but wasn’t able to due to issues with the site so ended up calling in. When I rang Sears Auto Center, the guy was incredibly friendly and got all of my information for an appointment. It was a much longer process than quickly doing it online but it worked all the same. Or so I thought…
I went right on time at 11am on a weekday and all the guys were quite busy. I stood for 5 minutes or so until someone could help me (however everyone greeted me as they passed by) but they got to me eventually. They couldn’t find my name or appointment in the system. Le sigh. The guy taking care of me told me I could take a seat in the waiting room but I said I was actually going to go to lunch. I asked if it would be more or less than an hour because I could come back after work if more than an hour. He said, oh no it will definitely be less than an hour. Anyways, I got a text 90 minutes later sitting back at my desk at work that my car was ready. It was totally okay because I walked back after work but it would have been much less stressful just knowing it was going to be more than an hour.
They called me about 15 minutes after I dropped off my car and I thought they had finished early! Silly me! No, they were just trying to upsell me on things. I explained I just had rotors & brake pads put on & overall maintenance done so I’m good. He still urged a bit but resisted after I consistently held my ground.
The guys working the shop are very friendly, but it can just get so flippin’ busy here. I got an oil change for $ 13 though and it was done in 90 minutes. I don’t think I’d go here for the full charge oil change just because the organization doesn’t seem up to snuff. But hook me up with a coupon and I’ll be right back in the shop!

If it wasn’t for the location I would never come to Sears. The staff lacks communication with one another. They get upset when you ask them to price match their online store. There is ALWAYS a long wait and the people in the front part of the store lack any knowledge of what is going on with your car. I would rather get punched in the face than wait for them to tell me what was done to my car.

This Sears center also has a center that does repair on lawn mowers, snow blowers etc. I have to say that I am very disgusted with the service that has come from this service center. I know they send out the items to another repair center, but this center is where you drop off your item.
Last year we took our lawn mower in as it would not stay running nor start with the electric starter. They sent it back with the lever for the power wheels broken however, we did not notice it until this spring (since it took them 3 weeks to fix last year we picked it up and it went right into the garage). We took it out this spring and it started like a champ. That is when we noticed the broken lever, I did 5 swipes of grass, changed the bag and the mower would not start again. Took it back to sears yet again early this season, two weeks later get it back and it starts. Bonus. Another 6 swipes of the yard and it dies out. Now it wont start again and the electric starter is fried yet again… Extended Warranty for what??? They can’t fix it so why am I spending all this money? How many spark plugs and new filters can a non running lawn mower need? Seriously??? Very disappointed… Will be calling the service manager about this one.

I went in for an oil change, took about 15 – 20 minutes surprisingly. I
am thinking they rushed the job because it was close to closing time. The front desk Indian guy that helped me was very friendly. Probably would have given this place one more star but they left oil all over my steering wheel, door handle and a spot on the dash board. They could have had the courtesy of at least wiping that off! Imagine if I would have touched the steering wheel and then my expensive leather purse… I would have ruined it all! Thank goodness I had disinfecting wipes with me. I will not return to any Sears auto centers (especially since the Sears Auto Center in Vernon Hills (Hawthorne mall has bad reviews as well.)

I went to this shop on 31^st Aug 2013 for my michelin tire warranty issue. Michelin told me to go to the nearest Sears Auto center. The lady out there from the first moment wanted to sell new tires to me. I convinced her that the new car tires should not worn out in less than 34K miles. Then they took all the measurements and did inspection. After 3 weeks also nothing has happened on this front. They never called me… when i called them… they couldn’t find my details. Moreover they have also didn’t called up Michelin regarding this matter

I took my honda for an alignment and the wheels looked way worse then before. Staff agreed but no one was able to help. Talking to multiple people (not even one actual mechanic) made it worse since no one cared about what I had to say prior the repair.
I’m never going back there again!

Good for minor car maintenance. Be careful when they recommend big expenses, they recommended me to change brake fluid when i just had it changed two months back at the same place.

I have been going to Sears for 10 years for oil changes, tires, batteries, general problems, etc. and I’ve never had a bad experience. I have a Saab, and it’s sometimes a pain because it needs all sorts of special parts and TLC, but I always go to Sears first, and they are usually able to service it for a lot less than a special Saab repair place would. Once in a while, there will be a part that they don’t have, but if that happens, I’ll just order the part myself from the Saab & Volvo dismantlers out in California. Much cheaper than the dealership.
Best part of getting tires and batteries from Sears is the warranty and free services. I had a battery go bad and they replaced it free of charge. They give you free rotation when you purchase tires. They don’t have a ton of high-​performance tires but they have a handful, and I’ve always been able to get the ones that I want. I have never had an issue with upselling. Like any other car repair place EVER, they’ll suggest services, but they’re always honest and if you ask them how necessary the repair is, they tell the truth. I’ve been to many Sears Auto locations and think this one is particularly good. The people are knowledgeable, and they now have the Saab device that reads the error codes, so I basically never have to go to a Saab place. I love Sears Auto and it will always be the first place I go!

This place is terrible. I had my battery replaced and they tried to upsell me all kinds of additional services. The salesperson quoted me a price and when I noticed my bill it was 9% more than I was originally quoted. When I pointed that out to the manager he just pointed out that I had signed something agreeing to the price. He was rude and less than helpful. There are so many places to go that offer these services I will go elsewhere from now on.

Went to get a tire repaired from a nail puncture and they damaged the tire upon dismounting from the wheel. Then they told me the tire went bad and it wasn’t their equipment. The tire manufacturer disagreed and I got them to replace the tire at no charge.
Some of the front desk help I had to tell them what to do because they were clueless on how to do anything but operate the computer.
Never going here again!

I’ve had bad experiences with another sears auto repair in the past, and this one was no different. Constantly calling us while they have our car, trying to upsell, add on whatever they could. I really wouldn’t trust this place with your car. We had an issue with our car at another sears auto, brought it here instead, and oh look, still having issues. Thanks for nothing.
