Savannah Dan’s Walking Tours

My fiancé, dog, and I had a wonderful time with Savannah Dan, and I highly recommend those visiting this wonderful city to book a tour try his walking tour.
Without getting into too much detail, Savannah Dan took about eight of us in a big loop around the city’s historical district and eloquently highlighted the city’s rich, yet dark, history. Some highlights:
–About Oglethorpe, the first European settlers, and local Native Americans.
–Famous haunts that reside underneath squares or inside of notable buildings.
–Where to taste delicious noms, ranging from fried chicken to ice cream.
–Historical events like the Civil Rights sit-​ins. (One of the coolest things I learned.)
–About Forrest Gump and certain scenes.
–Dude dresses up in an old school, white Southern suit! (Thanks for going all-​out, Savannah Dan.)
Other tidbits:
–Make reservations 24-​hours prior, via phone.
-$ 25 per person.
–Pooch friendly. We brought our dog, Cranberry. (He was very nice to her, too.)
–90−120minute tour. He takes his time and answers questions at the end, too.
My lady and I went on three tours while in Savannah, and I have to say this one was my favorite.

Thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour through Savannah with Savannah Dan. He gave a great informal tour with a sense of humor and wealth of knowledge. So much better than taking a trolley tour. Highly recommended booking this while you’re in town.

A great way to start a visit to Savannah! Dan gives the right amount of history while commenting on current Savannah. As some have mentioned, the tour takes time, and you definitely walk a bit. But there is no better way to get to know the city than to walk (rather than ride in a bus) while listening to his charming stories.

Savannah Dan is as charming as he is fun! Even in the rain, we had a fantastic time.
Dan makes the experience fun and educational.
Next time we are in Savannah, we will definitely check him out again.

If Savannah Dan had been my history teacher I would’ve not only done better but I’d have remembered more. He is not only knowledgeable and entertaining, but absolutely knows how to tend to his audience. His love for Savannah is evident and contagious. I could take this tour all day every day and be very happy.

I’m happy we started off our vacation on a walking tour with Dan. His tour was engaging, full of history and some good humor. It didn’t feel like he was reading from a script and he was very knowledgeable about a variety of topics. The seersucker suit and hat ensemble made the experience feel a bit more authentic.

Savannah Dan is hard to forget. I found him on Unilocal shopping for things to do in Savannah. He came highly recommended and know I can see why. It’s a long tour, roughly 2.5 hours but worth it if you know nothing to very little about Savannah. As the pictures highlight, he is a tall man, roughly 6’3″ in a searsucker suit.
The weather this day was perfect for a walking tour. We visited grave sites, historical buildings, gardens, statues, and more. So much history, so much time to over it lol. Dan is very informed and the tour is easy peasy. You follow Dan walking around the squares. Well worth the money and a good date event even. Try it out.

Great tour! Savannah Dan is very knowledgeable, funny, and gave great recommendations as to where to go to eat! He gave us suggestions along the tour route as well as staying after the tour to talk to us!
Definitely take his tour! You can call the number at all hours and someone will answer. We called at 1:30 am to book the 2pm tour the next day. The next morning they called asking if we can do the 10am since Dan had an emergency to attend to in the afternoon. Very nice ladies I spoke to on the phone!

We really enjoyed his tour. Very friendly and was great at sharing stories. I was left wanting more so I wished he offered maybe a tour of the river area or other parts as round 2!

Savannah Dan is the best! My husband and I were only in Savannah for half a day, and as he had never been there before, we wanted to get the most out of our time and see the highlights. Savannah Dan was the best way to do that! He took our tour of about 10 people through the historic squares of Savannah, telling everyone the history in his charming and comedic way. After the tour he even gave us a great recommendation for lunch, the Warehouse on the riverfront (the best shrimp I’ve ever had, but that’s for another review). I highly recommend taking a tour with Savannah Dan!

Savannah Dan KNOWS this city. He is entertaining and enjoyable to walk with. This southern gentleman is worth every penny

Savannah Dan Walking Tours should be your first stop when visiting Savannah. Dressed in a Seer Sucker suit, perfectly matched for that ol’ Savannah charm, Savannah Dan intrigues you with his insight to this lovely, historic city. While the tour only touches the surface of this city, it gives you enough to explore on your own for the remainder of your trip.
Tip: After the tour, head to Leopold’s Ice Cream Parlor for not only the best Ice Cream in Savannah, but to try the «Savannah Dan» special, an ice cream concoction created especially for Savannah’s famed tour guide.

Dan was fantastic! Had a wonderful tour of Savannah. Felt like he could answer questions about the area with ease. He came in his suit and bow tie. It was Veterans day so there was extra kick in his step it seemed. You pay only if you feel like his tour was good. I’d go again for sure. If the weather is nice I would definitely recommend the walking tour. It helps to work off the food and beverages you are taking in while in Savannah and Tybee Island!

One of the best walking tours I’ve taken. Dan is quite the character with his tweed suit, bow tie, hat, and shoes to match… At 6’6″ he’s hard to miss!
He’s an actor, comedian, historian, foodie, and tour guide. His stories are entertaining and funny, he’s incredibly knowledgeable, and the length of the tour is just right (2hrs).
I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get to know Savannah a bit more. I also agree with other reviewers– I think this is a way better option than the bus or trolley tours.

Savannah Dan is articulate, knowledgeable, and seems like he will not BS you, which is very nice when you’re visiting from out of town.
We were a group of four and supposedly there was supposed to be two other groups of four but they didn’t make it, so we had a very intimate small group.
I really liked the tour and loved that it was just us, so it was like a private tour.
My only complaint is that he doesn’t smile that much. A small gripe, but whatever, I guess that’s just not his thing. He answered all my questions though, which was very nice.
Dan definitely has a very dry sense of humor. Just remember that when he starts walking, hurry up and follow him so you can hear everything!

Now this is probably the best walking guide tour out there bar none! Savannah Dan was very knowledgeable of the historically rich Savannah and was able to teach it as so it wasn’t boring or wanted you to stick a finger down your throat.
The tour took about 2hrs and you’re walking the entire time, but Dan keeps an upbeat pace and fills the tour with so many facts, that those 2 hrs fly by!
I think he charges $ 15 or $ 20 a person but it’s definitely worth it. He even has recommendations on where to visit or eat if you are on vacation like I was.
