This place is the real MVP. Atmosphere is incredible — building is from 1700’s and the tavern is down in the basement. Low ceilings, candle lit, piano music. Amazing drinks and food. Supposedly haunted too! Skip the Olde Pink House upstairs and just hop down to the basement.

On a one-night stay over in Savannah, our hotel concierge recommended Planters Tavern. It could not have been a better choice. Our server Chris was attentive without being overbearing. He also spent time telling us about the history of the tavern-fascinating. As for food, great! The she crab soup was full of crab and totally creamy; crispy flounder unique and perfectly cooked-great flavor and the sauce on the sweet-sour side but very good; shrimp and grits appetizer very rich and a good size; wedge salad simple but very nice presentation and dressing excellent. The bad news was we were too full to consider dessert. Oh yes, the Bloody Mary with chili vodka is not to be missed.

This is one of my favorite watering holes in Savannah right below The Olde Pink House, a favorite restaurant I go to almost every time I visit. It gets busy and loud but has such ambience it is must see kind of place to experience it. They have a musician playing every night. This night the singer made it interactive which was different from my previous busts. Totally enjoyed the evening then called it a night.

A historic building that houses three separate establishments. While dinning left some to be desired I would recommend the candle lit speakeasy esc basement brick bunker bar as a great option for a drink with a small party. The piano player keeps the atmosphere fun and classy. Reminds me of a lafitte’s blacksmith shop in NOLA type place, but with a much softer appeal to all generations with hints of a Boston college locals bars. The staircase to enter is located to the left of the building, adjacent to the main entrance to the pink house.

I loved this place! In the basement of the Pink House, the atmosphere was unique, like walking into a 1770’s Boston tavern. There was live music a bar and everything on the Pink House menu can be ordered here. We had fried green tomato with cream corn and bacon which was delish but too salty. The duck was awesome.

My group of gals and I planned to have dinner here after seeing Lady Chablis. Our concierge recommended this place as an alternative to the Pink House(impossible to get a reservation). It should be noted that this is a tavern located in the basement of the Pink House and the food is the same menu as the Pink House. There were enough negatives to impact my rating. The cons: 1) Even though we were told there would not be a long wait, we did not get seated to eat for 90+minutes. 2) Pricing versus portions(not good). 3) Seating was so uncomfortable. 4) Ladie’s room was gross and the entire place just did not look clean in general. 5) Service was terrible. The positives: 1) The food was delicious although the portions were ridiculously small. 2) The wait was painful but made less excruciating by the piano player and the female singer that accompanied him. The crowd also got into the act and we had fun watching the drunks get crazy. Overall: This place needs to be more accommodating. There is definitely space to include more tables. Several people left due to the wait and my friends and I ordered appetizers as our meals because it was so late by the time we got a table. Like I said, what we got was absolutely delicious but the portions were minuscule. They could improve here(how about 3 scallops or even 4?). I ordered the scallop appetizer and got two very small scallops with a dollop of spinach underneath. I wanted more of the spinach too! For what we paid, we expected more. We were not impressed with the cocktails either. Next visit to Savannah, I won’t need to come back here. Everyone raves about the«Pink House» but in all honesty, you can get equally delicious food all over Savannah with better service and a friendlier atmosphere with less of a wait. Not one of the highlights of our trip… not even close.

It’s rare for me to leave a review, but I absolutely had to here. Picked a spot at the bar, and from the time I sat down until the time I left, I encountered not only some of the best food I’ve had in recent memory, but by far the best service. Between his advice on food and drinks, attentiveness, and general disposition, Richard(behind the bar) was as good as it gets. As for the food, I went with the scallops appetizer(great), and the crab stuffed grouper. The grouper was an audible based on his recommendation, and it did not disappoint. I can also speak to another customer around me being blown away by the fried pork chop. Long story short, this is one of the few places that not only lived up to the hype, but it surpassed it

On our second night in Savannah we found ourselves caught in a violent thunderstorm and scurried into the The Planter’s Inn(the bar in the cellar of the Olde Pink House) looking for respite. The room was dark save for the glow of warm candle light. We immediately spied Diana Rogers playing piano in the corner, wearing a beaded pink dress and a feathered hat, something close to a cloche, but fancier. Almost better than her singing was her easy conversation in between songs with the couple from New Orleans and their surly, silent daughter. The St. Germain cocktail was perfection, the shrimp and fried green tomatoes were tastefully Southern. If you do nothing else while you’re there, say hello to Diana, give her a kiss on the cheek, and a hearty tip.

If there were room for 6 stars, that’s what I would give this place. We have been here twice in a period of 3 years. We love visiting Savannah. If there is one dining«experience» to have in Savannah, I recommend this one. There are no reservations taken and it is not a restaurant per se. It is a beautiful old bar with dark woods in the basement of a very famous eating establishment. Yes there are a few dining tables, but may people eat at sofas or at the bar. It is very casual and receives the same great food being served upstairs in their formal dining room. The food is bussed downstairs by runners and your waiter serves it to you piping hot. Nothing is lost in coming from upstairs downstairs. The service is excellent. Don’t miss their version of shrimp and grits. Voted the best in the city by Savannah Magazine with good reason. It is fantastic. Also try their praline fruit basket. This is one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had.

I didn’t eat here but the atmosphere is so cool and the bar scene so awesome that I wanted to post. It’s go this cool underground, old tavern vibe with live jazz music going on every night starting at 7:30. Such a perfect place to spend an evening. Highly recommended.

I cannot speak to the food, as we did not eat, but this place is great. I loved the rustic feel & dark candle-lit atmosphere. We sat on a couch near a fireplace and it was very cozy. We had a few glasses of wine and met a bunch of nice people. Piano guy was good as was our waitress. Would definitely go back.

What a wonderful place. It feels like a secret spot that no one knows about. If your thinking about proposing to your other half. This would be a great place or at least make it one of the spots you have dinner that night!

Not sure what people see in this place. The disgusting smell of bathroom/dumpster was the first sign that we wouldn’t want to stick around. If we had walked in for dinner rather than a drink, I would’ve walked out before even sitting down simply based on the stench. The drinks weren’t even good… I was expecting good quality cocktails like what we find is speakeasy bars in Philly. Instead we got the kind or cocktails you’d find at a typical dive bar. No special mixology skills here. Apparently we arrived after the live jazz ended because there was no music. The vibe is cool and romantic with the dark room lit by candle, but the gross smell ruined any romanticism for us. Would not go back!

Located in the basement area of Old Pink you’ll find Planters, one of the best bars/lounges to be found, one that truly exudes itself with an Old Savannah charm, character and feeling. The old age of the place gives it its distinctive Old Savannah character and the piano or jazz music its Southern feeling. I’ve found the drinks to be good, the service superlative, the musical entertainment lounge room top notch, and as an added plus are the really good menu items of food from Old Pink.

This was the perfect place to end an evening in Savannah. We ordered the cheese tray which was delicious and filling, and also munched on the bread(biscuit) basket. I loved my Beesknees Cocktail and my husband enjoyed his Italian wine. The atmosphere is comfortably intimate with dim lighting(not as dark as other reviews say), wax taper candles on every table and a sassy old lady playing piano and singing show tunes! Out waitress was friendly and even gave us recommendations on other places to eat while in Savannah while we were leaving. This place is a little pricey but I felt like it was worth what we paid.

This place is amazing. We opted to be seated in the tavern in the basement of The Olde Pink House. Very romantic with all the candles lit and live piano player. I ordered the cornbread oysters for an app. Delicious! The sweetness of the cornbread goes perfect with the saltiness of the oysters. For my entrée I got the fried pork chop with asparagus, Mac & Cheese, and pan gravy. I wish I could have this for dinner every night! My boyfriend got the shrimp and scallop fettuccini. He said the scallops were moist but the sauce was a little rich. They had pimento cheese sticks at the bar which we asked for and they melt in your mouth! I may have snuck some in my purse before we left! This is the place I would go back to every time I am in town. There’s a reason why everyone raves about it and it’s well deserved.

Dinner at a bar that looks straight outta a Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean… and just as dark too. Outstanding filet; kind martinis. Fun guy on the piano. Two stars, you enquire? I removed one star for each of the roaches that traversed the bar between the register and me. I know that the Old Pink House is, well, old, and we’re in it’s basement, but still, we got Raid and Terminex available in these more modern times.
