Hyatt Regency Savannah

The hotel is nice and big. It has a great location. But it doesnt deserve 4 stars. There is no room service. The staff never came in our bedroom to empty the bins or straighten the beds or bathroom or check on toilet paper. during our stay. Our children loved using the swimming pool or gym. The first day I noticed some lemon fruit on the floor (clearly from a drink somebody brought in), some chewing gum was crushed on the floor and there was hair around the swimming pool and dirt in corners. I signaled to a staff member that the floor in the swimming pool was dirty. He said he would take car of it. The day after, all what was mentioned above was still there. So I went to see the manager of the hotel who said he would send someone immediately. I was at the swimming pool for another hour with my children and nobody showed up except to add some towels. The day after the floor had still not be cleaned. That means that during our stay (4 nights) nobody cleaned the floor in the swimming pool !!! I had also mentioned to the manager that there were no wipes in the gym (although signs ask people to clean the equipment after using it with the wipes supposedly there, but there were none), he answered that somebody came every hour to clean it so this is why there were no wipes, but we never saw anybody come and clean the equipment while we were there. Parking is not included in the price. It is quite expensive and should be included in the services of a supposedly 4 star hotel. The hotel manager is useless and the staff clearly needs training. After being in Savannah we stayed in a 3 star hotel and had room service every day included in the price and free parking. What a difference ! It seems that several people before me had concerns about the service and cleanliness but the hotel direction issues automatic answers and hasn’t address the poor quality of the staff. Hyatt hotel clearly needs another manager.

Stayed 1 night so we could explore so we could explore Savannah on our way to Tybee Island. Arrived close to 10pm & then checked out early. We stayed in a junior suite. During our quick visit staff at front desk were very helpful. Room was clean and a good size. We could see the river and watch the ships go by. Bed was comfy. There was a sign posted by elevator stating quite hours. Was please with that because don’t appreciate loud hotel guests in the middle of the night.

Stayed one night with family recently on a trip back through Savannah from Florida. Had a great rate which included breakfast/​valet. We were looking for a hotel with an indoor pool and connecting rooms, this fit the bill. Check-​in was a bit slow, but we received great service as they couldn’t find us connecting rooms (they are replacing beds in a lot of rooms so many weren’t available) so upgraded one of our rooms to a suite with roll-​away bed. The room was very large with a separate seating area and plenty of room for the roll-​away bed. The décor is very modern and has been recently refurbished, so everything was clean and in good condition. Really like the modern look of the rooms. The interior of the hotel is a bit dated, but ok, and the exterior is definitely nothing to marvel at. They have a rooftop garden that is very plain, basically just a cement rooftop with some chairs and a plant or two. The pool was pretty decent for an indoor hotel pool, was reasonably warm, and they have a really nice fitness center. Buffet breakfast was pretty standard for a large, upscale hotel… though there were no pancakes, waffles or omlet station. Overally, we had a nice stay, this fit the bill. If you are looking for nice rooms, and indoor pool, very large lobby/​atrium, and a typical large-​scale hotel, this is a good option. The location right on the riverfront is nice too.
Positives: Nice, modern rooms, indoor pool, riverfront location (though the view is pretty industrial, it’s a working port).
Negatives: Run-​down exterior and riverfront, no character, common spaces are a bit dated.

The staff was very friendly, however, I made reservations a week in advance but when I got there she told me that they overbooked so they no longer have the room I wanted for me even though I checked in on time. I accepted a different room (even though 2 double beds isn’t what we wanted for our honeymoon… we reserved a king). I also had reserved a closer room to the hotel due to me being handicapped and we were literally the last room at the end of the hallway). Either way, I tried to call to see why this happened and what could be done to somehow rectify this and I was pretty much told that we got a room so there’s nothing more that could be done. Very disappointed!

Negative: (1) we check in and the room service tray was left in front of our door from the night before!!! we didn’t even get to the room until 8PM, so it had been there for 8+ hours!!! asked the front desk to have it cleared and they forgot until the following morning, again (2) we asked the concierge (man named Phil) for directions to get to the Wormsloe Historic site and his response is «why would you want to go there?»…come on…
Positive: good, central location
Summary: hotel is what you expect (except for issues above of course) and will certainly not be back any time soon

Parking is not free. Valet parking only at $ 26 per day! So be aware. No bathtub, shower only in my king room. However, buffet breakfast for two was included in the $ 139 room cost and that was excellent. Staff all very nice.

Quick summary: Buyer Beware! We paid for and confirmed our reservation in advance, then arrived and were asked to wait, told that well after out check-​in time, the room still wasn’t ready and asked to wait in a basement room with excrement on the ground.
This, obviously, was totally unacceptable. Eventually we simply left, it being after 6pm and they still didn’t have our room ready. We were able to make another reservation at a different hotel but, since we were now reserving at the last minute on a Friday night of a holiday weekend, we had to pay hundreds of dollars more than the rate we had paid at Hyatt well in advance.
But what could we do? We were travelers in a foreign city with literally nowhere to sleep. Hyatt kept apologizing but never offered a solution. Never offered to give us a room in another one of their hotels or offered to reimburse us the difference in cost between our new reservation and the old one that they couldn’t honor.
I reached out directly to Hyatt’s customer service right after we left, and again over 48 hours ago, and I have received no reply at all.
Awful experience that wasted our time and money and deeply impacts our trust in this brand.

We went to Savannah thanksgiving weekend and stayed here one night. We rented an apartment the other nights but decided after we booked it we wanted to stay an additional night so I was able to get a good deal on jetsetter for this hotel.
The hotel is definitely in the heart of downtown, right on the river. We weren’t too fond of the riverfront since most all the stores are touristy. Our apartment was 2 blocks off Forsyth park, which was residential and quiet so this was quite the change. The hotel room was quite large and spacious and has been renovated. Besides that there were a few things I didn’t like thus the 3 stars. First, the rooms all face the interior courtyard which sounds great except if you’re not appropriately dressed and your curtains are opened, any one of the rooms across from you can see you! I saw one of my neighbors from across the way. So basically you have to keep your curtains closed. Second, because of the hotel’s layout the sound travels. That day there was a wedding going on to the later hours and you heard all the rambunctiousness in your room. So sound will travel. And lastly, $ 28 for valet– which you have to do regardless– is rather high. We weren’t there for more than one night and I’m glad because it wasn’t a place I would come back to because it doesn’t have the southern charm you want from this city. If you’re looking for a place right in the heart of everything then this may be right up your alley.

Comfortable 2 night stay with basic needs being met. The room was clean and everything worked. I liked the darker colors in the room (reminded me of a dimly lit restaurant). Basic wifi was free which was a plus and it was strong enough to stream continuous video.
Things were not perfect, but nothing major. 1) The valet only asked if I was checking in and then started a ticket for valet. Slightly deceptive. They should at least ask if you’ll be using their valet 2) Booked a King, but they only had doubles when checking in at 3:30pm. 3) The breakfast buffet wasn’t good to me. I will skip that the next time around.
I could stay here again easily, but it wasn’t so superb that I must stay here.

I used to work for Hyatt while in college about a decade ago and am so very pleased to see they are upholding their standards for superior customer service. There is no better location in Savannah as everything is within walking distance including the stop areas for tours, the boat rides, and shopping. The room was well kept and and very comfortable. Every employee we came in contact with was friendly, welcoming, and in a good mood.
The breakfast buffet is well worth the price and the manager from the restaurant even came and chatted thanking us for visiting. I only wish we had stayed for their lobby sized Thanksgiving buffet. We can’t wait to come back and visit.

Wasn’t terrible but we’ve definitely had MUCH better stays at Hyatt hotels. Our bathroom shower was so tiny (and I’m a petite person!) I couldn’t even shave my legs and there was no threshold so the floor was completely wet. We called the guest services to request a room with a larger bathroom and were connected to the front desk where no one answered. Then we were told housekeeping would come later in the day while we were out. No one ever came and we had to request towels twice because we to use ours to sop up the water from the inefficient shower. There were also very loud noises from the A/​C or refrigerator that was disturbing while trying to sleep. Very disappointed in this Hyatt stay. Only good part was the location.

Very helpful, friendly, hospitable staff. Best room service of my life! Food was delicious and was hot. Was here for a conference and they did such a fantastic job with all the lunches, rooms, and coffee breaks.

Overall a good 4 night stay. But some of the classic housekeeping problems came up. My hair is short and mostly gray. So when I find long red hair in the bed it is not (generally) a good sign. The housekeeping was done early and I do appreciate that.
The hotel catering was also generally good. the food was properly prepared and served and of high quality.
The front desk staff were helpful and efficient.

Pros: Great location, decent rooms, and friendly staff. Little pricey, but all and all we had an awesome two days. You can not beat the location if the riverfront is where you want to be.
Cons: Hyatt corporate needs to invest some $$$ and do some sprucing up. The pool and lobby are pretty dated and the hallways and common areas need some stronger AC.

Rooms are ok I guess, inside lobby area is really more reminiscent of an Embassy Suites. Definitely an older property, even with the newer renovated rooms. Stayed here in a room with a river view which is nice. However, the wifi is a complete dud, and the parking situation is about as bad as you can imagine. I worked here as a valet over a decade ago, it was a sh*t show then and it’s even more of a mess now. 15 – 20 min to wait for your car, especially when it’s parked in viewing distance, during check out hours is unacceptable, I don’t care where you are.

Great property with all the amenities. Location on river and super close to dining, shopping and stuff to do.

Staying @ the Hyatt Regency here in Savannah Geogia. The room I’m staying has an amazing view of the river how awseome.
This is my first time here in Savannah and I’m having a fabulous time, the weather is phinominal and peope here are so friendly and have great manners.
Never have I been to the hotel where the housekeeping staff have greeted me from a far away distance, they have gone above and beyond asking if my room is up to standard. How nice. I will remember my stay here, awseome.

A Hyatt is a Hyatt. The location is the best in the historic district. Had a newly redecorated room that was very nice. Location location location.

I Priceline-​d this sucker for $ 70/​night. At that price it was exceptional value. I had a double king room all to myself, and whilst it was business-​y it was as spacious as all get out, I could’ve swung a cat by its tail and not hit the walls! The bed was ultra comfortable and the room felt new.
However, there was a couple of gripes. Wi-​fi sucked donkeys balls, it was unuseable anywhere except the lobby; the shower had a drainage issue, meaning that when I was taking a shower I was also taking a bath. I’m a tinea-​phobe so even in a hotel shower I am wearing thongs… Kinda defeats the purpose when your entire feet are covered in the water… So they probably need to take a look at the plumbing.
Having said that, at $ 70 a night this place was an absolute steal.

After staying on Tybee Island 4^th of July, 2010, we loved visiting Savannah. Now with kids in college, we wanted to stay in Savannah during a cooler, less hectic time. Wanting to be close to the historic downtown district, I spun the Priceline name your price wheel and got the Hyatt Regency. So, the price was very good. I had one of those «half-​river» views, which look better at night with the bridge lit up. ALL the staff were very pleasant and eager to please. The concierge booked us a private horse/​buggy tour where we were picked up at the front door… nice! We decided to eat light and dine on 2 for 1 apps at the Vu Lounge. The drinks and apps were very good and our waitress again friendly and attentive. The elevator right down to River St. was awesome to have available.
Now, again, for the price I paid I’m not complaining, but the rooms as alluded to by other posters, are very tired and dated, like ’80’s dated. No refrigerator and no bathroom exhaust fan, and older lime crusted plumbing were noted. In their defense, they were renovating a couple of floors. All in all, convenience of location made up for any discrepancies, and the money I saved paid for the parking and the carriage ride (almost)
