Hampton Inn

The hotel offers nearby easy parking. Bell staff and registration staff were very polite and courteous. Everyone is very accommodating. Check in was a breeze. Luggage carts are abundant and the elevator is centrally located. Great hotel location in the historic district of the city. Given the location, nightly weekend rates are very reasonable. The only downside to the room is it is not nearly as large as shown in online pictures. And that’s why it gets four stars. Other than that, the room is great.

Nice people, décor in sore need of update. Look somewhere else if you don’t like warm showers & green carpet.

The ‘Historic District’ moniker is a bit misleading, especially for most who don’t walk a good distance regularly. Obnoxious fridge and microwave, peeling walls, plus $ 15 to self-​park, but otherwise just fine.

This place is the best! On the last night of our honeymoon, and after a less-​than-​stellar experience at the Hampton Inn across town, this place delivered a great experience.
I really need to say that Kwanisha made the stay extra great for us. She greeted us with a super friendly welcome, and she was actively interested in our stay. When she found out we were honeymooning, she insisted on seeing photos. It was a really engaging experience up-​front. I thanked Kwanisha for her hospitality and explained briefly that our last Hampton stay was a little weak. She apologized and reassured us that we could just ask if we needed anything from her.
Later that night, Kwanisha brought up a bottle of bubbly, some chocolate, and a beautiful card congratulating us on our engagement. It was a super thoughtful and really humbling gift. She went out of her way to ensure we felt special and she nailed it!
The valet parking was great! We loved the king suite. It was clean, the bed was comfy, and the room was cozy without being cramped. After this experience, we are very sure this Hampton will be where we stay in Savannah henceforth. Thanks for a great stay!

These folks provide exceptional customer service and made my stay immeasurably better. William can tell you just anything you need to know off the top of his head! He and the valet even fixed my computer issues for me! Iesha is very friendly and helpful. These folks make you feel right at home. Another valet, named Blue, is a very kind man.

I have stayed at several Hilton properties and this has to be one of the worst. The hotel is humid and there is no AC in the elevators (this means close contact with sweaty tourist who have been walking around the hot downtown area and no air movement). The hallways leading to the rooms also seems to be hot and humid though not as bad as the elevator. The AC in my room sounds like a fish tank or a fountain the water noise is so loud. I am not sure why. Also, I have been switched from one room to another because carpet felt sticky. The room I am in now has sticky carpet too. I am guessing all of the rooms are that way. They said something about the Febreeze they spray in the rooms (maybe because the moisture would make the rooms smell dank or unpleasant otherwise). I come to Savannah frequently for work, but will not be staying at this particular property again. Everything from the air the floors just feels sticky. I will say that the staff are nice and try to be accommodating. It does not appear to be uncomfortable because of a lack of effort on their part.

Ritz-​Carlton service at a Hampton Inn rate. William was fantastic and was able to offer great recommendations every time we asked for one — whether it was for pizza delivery (Stoner’s) or the best tour to go on.
Brad, quite frankly, we wanted to take home. lol He really went above and beyond what’s expected and made sure we got where we needed to be — from check-​in to check-​out.
I do wish that this was a little closer to the Historic District — it’s just on the edge.
Otherwise, we had a clean, well-​maintained room. Very quiet hotel even though they were pretty full, but FANTASTIC staff.

Overall, this is a great hotel option for anyone looking to vacation in Savannah. On the west side of the Historic Downtown area, the hotel is located within walking distance of the Visitor Center and hub for most of the trolley tours. Any and all of the food, drink, shopping and entertainment stores are easily reached by car or foot from the hotel. The hotel itself is very nice and the staff are all very friendly (William was particularly helpful with food suggestions). Other features like the amenities (pool, breakfast bar, etc.) are good and the hotel and rooms are very clean. Because the location is very close to the Historic Downtown area there is a daily parking charge of $ 15. Book through one of the online sites like Expedia, Priceline or a membership like AAA and there are discounts. I would stay at this hotel again.

We stayed here for a night while we visited Savannah. The staff was very friendly and nice and the décor of the hotel was very welcoming. The rooms were a bit on the smaller side. Breakfast was great and had a large selection and plenty of seats. It was a bit out of the way, but still definitely walkable to the river and if you are doing a trolley tour they all seem to leave from right behind the hotel. The hotel pool area looked nice, but the pool was empty (which was okay since it was too cold to swim anyways) Overall, the only thing that wasn’t the greatest was the parking lot which is on the small side and so we had to park at a garage a few blocks over, it was only $ 15 though which was definitely reasonable. We would definitely consider staying here again on our next trip to Savannah.

Friendliest staff ever! I can’t tell if I’m in love with people from Georgia, or this is typical for Hampton Inn staff, but the people at the front desk were super nice and accommodating. We were on our way to FL and stopped to rest for the night. We were walk-​ins. My mom had found a reduced price for walk-​ins online, which they accepted with a smile. We also enjoyed the added Christmas tree touch in the dining area.

–Complimentary cookies at night (were oatmeal the night we were there)
–Size and layout of room was standard
–Sheets AND duvet covers are cleaned for each new guest
–Can’t comment on its proximity to landmarks, as we were only using it as a stomping ground before continuing on our trip, but there were many nearby places to eat (we ate at Ruby Tuesday’s).
While we found a deal ($ 89), I believe standard rooms are still reasonably priced.

Charming lobby parking is a hassle but the staff are friendly. Breakfast is good but can be crowded and not enough places to sit inside, although there are places to sit out in the back. The room could do with some updating but the bed was very comfortable and welcome after a long drive.

This was an ok hotel. I’ve been in worse lately which probably lets me rank it higher than I normally would. My room was really big and it had a mini-​fridge which was nice except it ended up freezing all of my drinks. The staff was helpful, holding my bags when I arrived too early for check in. The elevators are super slow. The breakfast is ok, standard hotel fare, they switch it up based on the day of the week. The location is not ideal for Savannah — it is a few blocks from the heart of the Historic District, it’s not super close to all the restaurants and shops you’ll want to go to (maybe a 10 – 15 min walk). So it was fine, but you can probably do better in Savannah.

Sometimes the best of plans go wrong. I was suppose be staying at the Hampton Inn located at 201 E Bay Street but ended up here upon the advice that they were both very much the same. Well, similar maybe, the same no. This Hampton Inn isn’t as good. The parking hassles even with valet can be nightmarish, check-​in was at a snail’s crawl, window views not as good, location a good mile and a half from the actual heart of the Historic District, and general interior décor not the equivalent.
Worse, a number of amenities, «Out of Order.»
For a Hampton, it’s passable, OK, but not up to par with their other nearby location.

I stayed here with a tour group and it was awesome! Very clean, super friendly housekeeping staff and the room has a nice refrigerator and microwave.
Breakfast is not super amazing but it’s free, food and fills everyone up and when you’re staying with a big group like I am that’s a big plus.
The doors are a little thin in the halls the elevator is old but the location and staff especially made me enjoy my time here.
Plus only a five or so minute walk to the Juliet Gordon Low house and since I’m staying with girl scouts that’s a huge plus!

This Hampton Inn is situated in an older building that still retains much of its charm in the lobby area. My room was clean and comfortable, although the carpet was rather worn in places — I noticed the same thing in some of the public areas as well. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was typical Hampton Inn fare — I left satisfied.
My only issue is with the location. The hotel bills itself as being in the «Savannah Historical District» but one needn’t wander far before finding oneself in some rather rough looking neighborhoods. I didn’t see any of the quaint Savannah I’ve heard so much about in this part of the city. If I were here on vacation I would probably seek to move, as there is not much to do within a safe walking distance aside from a few local restaurants.
For cleanliness and amenities the rating would be a solid four stars. However, the location really hurts. If there was a 2.5 rating that would have nailed it for me.

Last year I stayed at a Hilton property (Hampton Inn) 220 nights. Very clean and friendly staff. Stay off the first floor… Traffic coming off of I-​16 in at 4:00 AM is very, very loud!
Front desk personal told me the next morning they would be happy to move me if would have call at 4:30 AM in the morning… Somewhat a mood point!
Stay the Hampton Inn a couple of blocks away!

I was in Savannah for a job interview, so it was a quick trip, but such a nice comfortable place to stay. It was fairly close to town, even though I didn’t venture out much, I enjoyed my stay and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom clean and nicely appointed.

Pretty good Hampton Inn hotel, it’s like any other Hampton Inn. Very beautiful pool area, and the fitness area is separate, which is nice. The lobby is classic, but with the Hampton finish. What really gets me is THE BEDS. I slept on the pullout couch, and that even felt like one of the normal beds. Thank gosh they sell them.
I rated it 4 stars because there is almost NO PARKING on site. Sure, there is a parking lot designated to the hotel across the street, but you have to cross heavy traffic.
I would go any other time i’m in Savannah. GO. PLEASE?

Fantastic location. Clean rooms, lobby, restaurant. Two of the three elevators were out of order for much of the time while there. Had to use the stairs to save time, I would stay here again.

Thanks for that line, Forrest Gump! Since a lot of the movie was filmed in Savannah, I felt it appropriate to quote you. And that sums up the way I feel about Hampton Inns. Sometimes you get the chocolate covered cherry and sometimes you get the maple nougat.
I wouldn’t say this place is as bad as maple nougat, but it’s no chocolate covered cherry.
On the plus side, it was clean, had friendly people, served a decent breakfast and was fairly convenient for visiting the place (although it’s a good 20 minute walk to the heart of River Street). The beds and pillows were quite comfortable. Having a refrigerator and microwave in the room was great. We had four people in our room and I think we were all pretty comfortable.
On the negative side, the elevators are excruciatingly slow. We just used the stairs after the first day. And the gym is a joke. They had one bike, one elliptical and one treadmill. And the treadmill was broken the entire stay.
I know the two items I mentioned as negative don’t seem like a big deal, but I like having a fitness center and I like fast elevators, that’s just who I am, man.
Overall, this is a nice enough place. If those two issues were resolved, it would be a four-​star review for sure.
