A Team Drain & Plumbing

I’d seen A-​Team vans around town and decided to give them a call because of their pretty hilarious advertizing («I Pity The Stool» is freakin’ funny). Unfortunately, their good marketing did not translate into good service.
I haven’t had to use a plumber very often, so I could be misjudging things here, but I’m not entirely sure of their expertise. I had them estimate two jobs, one of which was to clear out the drain in my bathtub because it wasn’t draining as fast as the water of a shower would fill it up. So, for longer showers, you’d end up standing in a little bit of water. Well, according to A-​Team, this would require changing out my whole piping system below the house because of an old box-​type drain thing (I apologize for not getting the technical details right here: I know very little about plumbing). It was going to cost around $ 200. I’m not cheap, but that seemed like too much to me, so I passed on that part of the job. A couple of days later I used Drain-​O on it and I haven’t had water build up since (this is over six months ago now). I’m not saying the work that they would have done wouldn’t have worked or been a reasonable price for the job, but I do know that I was able to fix it myself for a $ 10 purchase from Rite Aid.
Anyway, back to the work they did do. They showed up a bit late (which in my case was okay since I work from home). The workers were friendly, but I didn’t appreciate all of the cussing and grumbling that I could clearly hear from my in-​home office. I mean, what if I had been on the phone with a client?
In the interest of winding down an already too-​long review, I’ll just say that they didn’t really finish the job and I had to call them to come back. There were a lot of excuses why they didn’t do what they didn’t do. I understand that nobody is perfect and sometimes mistakes are made, but I don’t want to hear it: Just come back and fix the problem! I find this kind of stuff really annoying. But, fortunately, they did come back. Unfortunately, like the reviewer Gretchen H. mentioned, they left a bunch of trash behind.
It’s too bad because I love the show A-​Team and I love their slogans and marketing, and I thought the owner (?) was pretty cool too before I had to call him to come back, but I just can’t recommend this company. Since this experience I’ve joined Angie’s List and will be more careful about choosing the people who work on my property.
UPDATE: Yes, Gretchen H. is my wife, but my review is 100% accurate. And I really don’t appreciate that the owner felt the need to question my integrity. Is this the kind of person you want working in your house?

Unfortunately I have to take my 2 star review down to a one star due to the owner being antagonistic after seeing my review. This isn’t the way you conduct business.
