Floor Improvements

This is the 2^nd time we had Hikmet do work for us. This time it was a combination hardwood floor installation as well as vinyl flooring in the bathroom. Once again he did a terrific job. Disposed of the old carpet that was in the home followed by a gorgeous install of the hardwood as well as vinyl in the bath. Hikmet took care of all the baseboard needs that we had as well and reset the toilet in place when the vinyl flooring was in place. His finish carpentry skills are well versed.
I’ve dealt with a lot of contractors through the years. Hikmet really takes pride in his work and really has a great eye when it comes to style and finish.
I know I would not hesitate to use Hikmet and his crew again when the need arises.

I contacted Hikmet after reading other’s reviews about his work. When I contacted him he was able to quote me a price over the phone without seeing the job. He stopped by and looked at the scope of work and his quote didn’t change. We have hardwood floor under the carpet and wanted to remove the carpet in a section of the house and have hardwood floors. Hikmet came to the job site the day he had promised. His crew where very quiet and isolated the area very well. Hikmet himself was very patient and thorough. He completed the work within the time frame he had promised and even came back to apply a second finish on the hardwood floor even though it was not included in his bid. I highly recommend Hikmet.

We bought a fixer upper in Sausalito and found there were hardwood floors under the carpeting. We wanted to clean them up and see if they could be saved — after talking about this with a number of flooring experts who all said they could be probably be saved but it would cost a lot of money or if they were wrong it would cost even more to put in new boards. We then found Hikmet on Unilocal and he offered a much more competitive bid, and was very honest and helpful in showing us which floors could be fully restored and which floors were not able to be fully saved.
Great to work with, we highly recommend HIkmet and his crew — the only thing we would do differently is get on his schedule as early as possible — we had some trouble getting him started because he’s already got a long list of customers!

I am close to finished building a new home in Mill Valley, 2750 sf, for my family. I hired Hikmet for the installation of the wood flooring and baseboard, approximately 1,700 sf, and boy, was that a good hiring choice that I made!
Hikmet immediately impressed me with his deep knowledge and good advice. He even came and laid out the product the way he wanted for acclimation before we had a contract signed or a verbal agreement… who does that!!! When it was time to draw the contract I got a bad surprise: the cost of the glue was excluded. «Here we go! Too good to be true! Let the nickle and dime dance begin…» I thought to myself, and got a bit annoyed. But it turns out it was a genuine misunderstanding: flooring glue is super expensive and I had no idea, and his labor-​only estimate was still competitive, especially for a licensed and bonded contractor. He handled the situation very professionally. He personally installed the floor. He came when he said he would and completed the work when he said he would. At times he had to wait for others to complete their part so that he could make progress and not once did he make a remark about it. There was a minor installation mistake that I noticed a couple of days after he was finished and he immediately stopped by the next day and took care of it. Very honest guy. Very knowledgeable, very good at what he does, good communicator. Highly highly recommended.

Hikmet did an excellent job on our floors and fair priced. He refinished existing and installed new flooring for us and it looks amazing. His sanding work was clean with limited dust and he did a consistent job throughout. He his honest and understands the customer’s needs and will tell you up front what is needed or not. The floors look beautiful and would hire him back anytime. He did such great work that our neighbor used him to refinish their floor.

Hikmet was hands down the best contractor experience I have ever had.
As a Mill Valley homeowner of 16 years I have been through many many repairs on my home including a complete renovation from top to bottom. This has meant I have had to deal with many contractors and I could tell you some horror stories!
Hikmet was different right from the start in that he returned my initial call promptly and showed up for our initial meeting on time. He was very professional, efficient and knowledgeable. He also offered me the best price.
I was a little unsure then that if I went for the best price the quality might suffer. This fear was never realized. Hikmet did a beautiful job including laying flooring around a tricky corner stove area. He then came back to do all the finishing touches above and beyond my requests. He is a true crafts person who takes pride in his work. He was always polite and courteous and very responsive.

Hikmet just helped us with a very noisy staircase by quieting it tremendously and then installing laminate flooring on the stairs and landing. We are very pleased with the results and enjoyed working with him. His price was very fair in our view. We would highly recommend him to others

Hikmet did a wonderful job on our floors. I found him on Craigslist and called him and 3 others. His price wasn’t the lowest but I felt very comfortable with him so we hired him. His job was fantastic, clean and done with great care. He loves what he does and it shows in the finished product. Highly recommend his company for sure

Hikmet redid over 1000sq-​ft of our floors a few months back right before we moved in. He was very accommodating helping us to find some great flooring at a very good price, and he spent a few 15 hour days in order to get the job done in a very short time frame before our move. He also redid some of our old flooring that had been installed incorrectly, as well as put in new floorboards where needed. He comes highly recommended, and additionally is a very nice person.

I had a wonderful experience working with Hikmet recently. I had an odd situation in that I am a do it yourself-​er with most projects around the house and started a laminate installation myself. I did most of the demo of my 600 sq-​ft downstairs and prior to making my first cut of wood I decided I was over my head on this project. I found Floor Improvements on craigslist with intentions of finding someone, skilled in flooring, to finish the job I started. FOUND the right person I did!
Within two days Hikmet was able to make arrangements to install my flooring. Two days from then I was moving my stuff back in!
This type of service and quality is hard to find these days and I really am thankful people like Hikmet are still out there. I intend to refer Floor Improvements as often as possible.

Hikmet installed bamboo flooring in my retail space. His prices are very reasonable and he and his workers are completely professional. He arrives at appointments right on time, returns phone calls promptly and makes the entire process go quickly and smoothly. Since I’m always crunched for time I really appreciated that he offered to pick up all the materials for me. Our floors had some complications due to uneven surfaces on the original concrete but he knew exactly how to correct them and accomplished it inexpensively. It has been two years since we had the main space done and the job has held up great. I just had him return to finish up a room in the back of the store and now it all looks terrific!

We especially appreciate how Hikmet and his staff assisted us with moving furniture, and installing very expert transitions between our tile and our new hardwood surface. Hikmet also assisted us in locating the best price for our hardwood material, and even arranged pickup and delivery to our home.
The project took a few days, and Hikmet made sure that our home was left perfectly clean after each day.
