Front desk is stellar, welcoming, friendly and responsive to needs of incoming customers. The level of professionalism at this location is the best in the area.

This is an update from my original review:
I received a call from a very concerned manager the day after the service. She offered to make up for the initial experience.
My wife went back a couple of weeks later. Her feedback was that she was very impressed and very satisfied with the service. So much so that we have signed up for a 6 month membership service since she will definitely be returning.
I have updated the number of stars to all stars since Massage Envy went out of their way to make up for the odd service on the previous visit.
I hope this update helps those that are trying to find a quality spa. I recommend it and so does my wife.

So I will preface that this review is based on my wife’s experience.
She had reached out in a Thursday, scheduling an appointment for the following day. When she arrived she was told the scheduling was done for the following week (absolutely no chance this was correct as she will be out of town). The receptionist was disrespectful, rude, and unapologetic. After reading the other Unilocal reviews we are canceling our credit card due to worries they will hit us for reoccurring charges. With so many options in the area I would never recommend massage envy to Anyone. We would rather toss our gift certificate in the fire than give this place business…

Thieving assholes!!!
I gave my wife a gift card and they asked for a credit card to «Put her in tbe system». All of a sudden I’m getting $ 60 a month charged to my card. She never agreed to signing up for anything. Now I have to fight with them to get my $ 120 back. My fault for not noticing the charges sooner. Do not give them any credit cards unless you want to get ripped off too.

This is the first bad review I have written on Unilocal,normally I do not have anything bad to say but I am very disappointed in my experience. I called Stoneham because that location is closer to me for about 4 weeks straight and they never had any open appointments, finally I gave up and called the Saugus location and they could fit me in. The front desk staff were very nice and got me set up right away. I explained to them that my back and neck had been very sore and I would like a little extra attention on those spots, but still wanted the full body massage and that I am a wimp with pain and want it to be light and relaxing. I then explained the whole thing again to my masseuse and told her I am a wimp for pain and really just wanted a relaxing full body massage. I am not exaggerating when I say she spent 35 minutes on my shoulders. 35 MINUTES. I had a lot of knots, I am aware of that, but this was excessive, not to mention not enjoyable at all. She even apologized and said I am sorry this is taking so long but you have so many knots I want to get them all out. I can appreciate she was trying to help me and probably doing what she thought was right, but I had already explained I just wanted a relaxing massage. It is not easy to tell someone they are doing their job wrong or you are not happy with their service, so I had to sit their in awkward pain while she dug her hands into the same spot for 15+ minutes on each shoulder. She then spent a lot of time explaining to me what was wrong with me and where I held tension and giving me suggestions on what I should do in daily life. That is fine, but give me these recommendations after the massage, not during when I am trying to relax. She spent the rest of the 10 minutes pn my legs and my neck, a few minutes on each = she barely even touched my back which is the best part! I do not feel any different/​better then when I went in yesterday and I am so annoyed that I wasted the «hour» (not an hour) massage like that. Again, I believe she thought what she was doing was right for me and she was extremely nice, but the time management was so off and it was not at all what I asked for/​what I wanted. I am very sad I wasted the money and time on my day off on something like this. I would have gone to a physical therapist or a chiropractor if I wanted to be worked on like that. I would suggest being extremely specific when you go here, and I most likely will probably not be back. :(

I was given a very good massage the first time, as if to rope me in to sign up for the membership.
Which I did, I went a couple times after to subpar service. When it was time to cancel I called up to cancel and was told ok. I was then charged again the following month. I called up only to be told I need to cancel it by filling out a form. I explained I live in NH and was told they would send it to me. I waited 30days for a form. I filled it out and sent to back only to be charged again the 3^rd month.

A year of massages were purchased as a gift for me. I tried a few different therapists before I found April who is absolutely amazing! I couldn’t say enough good things about her and my overall experience at Massage Envy in Saugus.

This place is worth the travel, the time, and the money. I began with a massage therapist a few months ago for deep tissue, and she was great. But I tried a new therapist, due to schedule. She is fantastic. I have been dealing with a bad lower back for years, muscular not spinal. Between working out, and stress which my Doctor said I hold in my back, this has helped tremendously. I would recommend this place highly, and ask to see Jocelyn. She is fantastic. You may want to not do deep tissue at first until you are ready, she is excellent at deeeeeep tissue and you get what you ask for. She is polite, professional, and has a great repoire with her clients. The ladies at the front desk are very welcoming. To all the negative reviews, thanks for leaving the schedule times open for me. Haha.

After a few days the store manager called me, Melanie, she did apologize for my bad experience and offered me a complimentary massage with different therapist„ I did appreciate the offer

I give my experience with the store and my massage therapist 5 stars BUT, I will not come back. I detest the franchise model that treats everyone as an independent contractor. My massage therapist has no benefits, gets probably only about half of the roughly $ 80 for the one hour massage and I am still expected to tip 15−20% so that she can actually make a decent pay. When I want to get the great treat of a massage, I will go to an independent person who is truly a business owner as opposed to the disadvantaged independent contractors working for big corporations who do not share the wealth with the people doing the work for them. Support your local independent business owners (coffee shop, massage, etc. etc).

Raven changed her schedule after my amazing massage 10 months ago and I was seeing someone else here. When I heard that she was working Thursday nights I immediately made an appointment. My second massage with Raven did not disappoint. 90 minutes of pure bliss she had to of spent at least 40 minutes on my neck alone. As soon as I walked in she remembered me and my problem areas and asked if I still wanted her to focus on those same areas. I am so happy that she is working on a night that I can come in again. I can’t wait to see her next month!

First time at this location. Felt welcomed when I walked in. I dressed down and my masseuse bailed out on me before my massage. So I ended up with a Male masseuse, but he did a good job. All in all my Massage was good.

We have always had good to excellent experiences at the Saugus Massage Envy. We joined the massage a month club and after a few different therapists we have come to really enjoy seeing Stephanie, Gail, Michele and several others. No bad experiences in the last 2 years.

I am actually surprised by the poor reviews as well. I’ve been coming here for a while and everyone is super helpful and friendly and I never have a problem making an appointment or changing one so I don’t have anything negative to report. I signed up for the membership, but did not feel pressured at all. Wouldn’t most people want to get a massage every month anyway? I realize it’s an expense, but the benefits outweigh that for me. I tend to have knots in my upper back and I feel so much better overall with my monthly appointments. Also, sometimes instead of a massage, I get a facial with Amanda and she is amazing!
But just a few recommendations — sometimes you need to try a few different therapists before you find the one that fits your needs. If you aren’t happy with one, try another. Also, one of the other reviews that I read that the person was in pain during the whole massage, I’m sorry but that is not the therapists fault, it’s yours! Speak up! :)

So bummed to see not such great reviews but this place was amazing! Maybe it’s because I had a great therapist! Very professional especially since we booked our massages at 9pm. They weren’t trying to rush us out or force me to buy a membership. Such a great experience I signed up to be a member! Can’t wait for more massages!

I had the pleasure of being referred to Deb for my massage. Deb is a nursing student who I was confident would understand exactly what was necessary for my health concerns and the detox I was doing at the time. The massage was amazing and exactly what I needed for the process. She gave me tips on how to go about my next couples days. I was so pleased with my whole experience and would love to go back and see Deb again!

I have had many amazing massages in my days however this was not one! I was in the area so I decided to give this place a try and the intro price is good. I asked for a deep tissue massage as I always get and was so so disappointed. I am someone who is bad at saying how I am feeling during massages but I was in so much pain for the entire hour. By the time I got home my back felt like I had been beat up and I actually had THREE BRUISES!!! Never again. Never

I also went and used the 39 $ promo and honestly had one of the worst massages ever. My experience was similar to others in that it was not a full 50 minutes but more like 40 minutes, she did not address my one and only issue that was a hamstring strain and she was just not knowledgeable.
I had a friend who went at the same time and had a similar experience unfortunately
I’m surprised for a place they sells memberships they wouldn’t want to blow you away the first time as I would have really been most likely to purchase a membership. Unfortunately I will never go back.

My bad experience is similar to those who also wrote negative reviews:
1. The discount to get you in the door is just a scheme to PRESSURE the customer into purchasing a membership– a membership you can only escape by death (or so it seems).
2. Embarrassingly awful staff. My masseuse was late. I could hear her being scolded while the counter girl told me another person would be performing my message– no explanation.
3. All staff at the counter are LACKING in etiquette and professionalim– bad mouthing other staff, using rude language, and speaking to the customer as if reading from the training manual…
4. My masseuse had a great personality, but my massage was not the best. I will admit, my back is in poor condition; however, I feel that my masseuse is not an expert. It was like she was simply going through the motions of a massage without trying to understand where the problem spots were. It has now been 6 days since my massage, and I am still experiencing pain and pinched nerves in my back. I can’t blame her for all of my pain, but it certainly didn’t do me any good.
I guess its hard to run a good spa when you hire low end staff.
So much for relaxing!

The management at this location turned a bad experience into a horrid experience. When I arrived, I was asked to sit and fill out a form. The receptionist was on the phone, hung up, then loudly said, «what the f###.»
I asked the massage therapist for a light, relaxing massage. There were times when it felt like she was punching me in the back. When the massage was finished, I went back to the front desk to pay. There was another customer yelling about her appointments being cancelled without notice. This definitely killed my massage buzz.
I was not going to complain, I paid and left. I received a survey request email so I let them know about my experience. The manager called and seemed apologetic. She offered me a chance to come back for another massage at the $ 39 rate. She stated she would call me back the next day with some times. That call was well over a week ago, the manager never called.
The massage was bad, the customer service is even worse.
