I have been to Jimmy’s with family and friends many times and was never disappointed in the food. We have been there for parties and small get togethers, dates, etc. When we went this weekend, however, we received less than exceptional service and mediocre food. The calamari appetizer was very spongy and not crispy like it used to be… it tasted like it had been reheated and served to us. The Honey Buffalo chicken appetizer was pretty tasty, but they don’t give you much to please the table. I ordered the teriyaki steak and it was pretty tasty, though a bit overcooked. The mashed side wasn’t special. I wish I had ordered the veggies. The chowder is always pretty good and so is the salad they serve. It is definitely nice to get salad and soup included with your meal. Our service at the bar was terrible. The bartender seemed like she didn’t want to do her job at all. It was a Friday night and the place was pretty busy, but not bad enough for her to be treating us like she was. Our server was pretty clueless about the menu and couldn’t answer any of our questions. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed she was new to the place because I hadn’t seen her before. We will most likely return in the future, but aren’t eager to anytime soon.

Been dining at Jimmy’s for many years. Normally, it’s a very safe bet for food, price and service. Like most restaurants, you can have a dud visit every once in awhile. I love the steak teriyaki and the chicken parm is another favorite. For me, it’s one of the go too restaurants along Route 1.

Came on a weekend night; only a 20 minute wait. Nice casual atmosphere, good service, good food, and a strong martini! Also great draft beer list.

Have been here now several times with the wife and friends. Food is good. Cocktails are okay. This time we had Stephanie Ryan as our waitress and let me tell you — SHEROCKS! She had a great sense of humor, knew her stuff, knew when to check on us and when to leave us alone… she was an absolute delight! Hey Steph, it’s Dr. Jen!

We went for a family outing and had 5 if us in our party and planned on spending around 200 for a good steak dinner. The hostess informed us that they had no tables only booths, when we told her we needed a table we were told that she could not do anything for us and made no effort to check if one would be avalable soon. Sadly we will probably not be back and we loved it before this

If I could give zero stars I would! Don’t waste your money on functions here! My sister and I had high hopes for my dad’s retirement party yesterday after having his 60th birthday party there two years ago. However, one thing after another went wrong! First of all, the attitude of the servers was awful. Then when they came around to take the food orders, they didn’t take my father’s order! It was a party for HIM! The woman said she’d be back to the table to get his order and never came back. So I took it upon myself to go find her and ask if they had gotten his order. She looked at me like I had 3 heads! Then she said: well we had 49 food orders and you said you were planning on having 50 people so we were missing one. So they knew they were missing someone but they weren’t going to come back to see who they missed?!? Again, their attitude was terrible! A while later food starts coming out. my father’s prime rib came out and I had told the woman to give him a really good, big piece because it was his special day. His steak comes out full of fat and over cooked. I felt so bad! Then it gets worse! My cousin had a hair in his food! So they send it back, and come back with a new plate. Didn’t apologize or even look surprised that there was a hair. At the end of the event, my sister and I sat down with the manager to go over the bill. I asked if there was anything they could do for there being a hair in the food and he offered a gift card. Honestly all we wanted was a sorry. We don’t want a gift card to come back to this place! Then they tried to charge us for the tip twice! Thankfully my sister caught the error! I’m glad my father had a good time nonetheless but they won’t be seeing us any time soon!

Wow, what happened to this place… My wife and I went here for dinner last night, and were terribly disappointed in both our meals. I ordered the full rack of ribs, and my wife ordered the larger order of steak tips. I couldn’t believe the minuscule portion sizes, I even asked our waiter if he brought the correct dishes. 3 ½ steak tips is a rather small portion, 9 bones of ribs is not a «full rack». While each entrée tasted good, we both expected larger portions, I can’t imagine what a small & half-rack order would have been… I tried to use the restaurants website to provide them this feedback, but it required I install an addin/plugin to verify my details…

don’t go here!!! they rip people off constantly!!! We went 3 times, the 1st time I was triple charged, the 2nd time a waitress changed my tip amount on the debit and I ended up talking to the owner who gave me a gift certificate and then when we went in the 3rd time another waiter changed our tip and I had to contact the owner and the police. they paid me back and fired the waiter but this can’t just be a coincidence they have to be ripping off everyone. Stopped in for lunch. The food was exceptional. My son and I both had salmon with Caesar salad. I was curious… A steer place serving fish? The piece of fish was huge spiced to perfection served moist and the quality of the fish was top notch. My mom had baked scrod and she raved about it the whole way home. Best lunch at reasonable price. Excellent service and very clean.

The first time we came here we sat at the bar. The bartender an older gentlemen did not take care of us at all. We ended up leaving. Maybe because we were a young couple in our twenties sitting at the bar and everyone else were regulars and in the thirties? He was rude when I asked him about his bourbon selection and so I just settled with wine. My bf and I asked for menus and he dropped it off and never came back to check on us so we paid the tab and left. Surprisingly enough we ended up on route 1 and decided to give this place another shot but this time sitting in a booth and let me tell you there baked crabmeat pie were out of this world! We ended up ordering another crabmeat pie to share since it was so good! The Steak on the other hand was not as good as I thought it would be for a steak house. Service was very slow and our server wasn’t attentive at all. Had to flag her down a ton to get some refills on our drinks! This place definitely caters to older crowd(65+) Only rating 3 stars because of there crabmeat pie and will only come back for there crabmeat pie!

We used to like this place and came weekly for steaks and lamb. But on Valentine’s Day, we went there and the experience was so bad that we told ourselves that we won’t be back for awhile. First of all, the waiter was so rude, he rushed us to order drinks, and when I asked questions about beers, he pointed at the menu and walked away. After that, he did not come back for awhile, so we went to see the manager and ask for another waiter/waitress, she did send a very nice one over and we were grateful. However, after we ordered the meals, the orders turned out to be another disappointment. My fiancée ordered 16 oz prime rib, but half of her steak was fat. My rack of lamb was over cooked, mushroom sauce barely had any mushroom in it. At this point we found it very ironic that both meals were bad, so we decided not to complain because who knows what you might served after that. If we have to pay over $ 75 for a meal, it should be well served.

Coconut shrimp was excellent and teriyaki steak was decent. The sirloin steak was dry and when I tried to order the ribs they told me they where all out. Over all it wasn’t bad. Also the mixed drink was warm

Talk about shady business practices. I love it here and for the most part the food and service is great. But for a large order of steak tips in their menu it’s labeled as 15.99. When I received my check they were 17.99 not including the tax… On top of that it was an extra dollar for sweet potato fries even when I wasn’t getting a soup or salad. I also got a whopping ten fries. I know the tips were only a two dollar difference but it’s just the principal. Just recently saw that they charged a guest .35 cents for dressing. It’s very clear that this company is being extremely shady.

I would rate this three and one-half stars if that was an option. We arrived a little early on a Saturday night with a party of four and we were seated relatively quickly. By the time we left around 7:15, the crowd by the door and in the bar was a bit larger, so I would definitely recommend getting in on the early side. The food overall was quite good, and they had quite a bit of variety. Our table had a wide variety of orders — filet, filet with lobster pie, prime rib, and a crab meat pie. Everyone was happy with their selection. It being New Years, and resolutions still fresh, I chose the rice pilaf to go with the filet and it was not particularly flavorful or good for that matter. The prime rib that was ordered originally came out too rare, but it was quickly replaced with another cut. I don’t generally enjoy prime rib, but this appeared to be much leaner than what you would usually find. Both filets were good, although a bit less done than we would usually like. The two pies were a hit with those who ordered them. They had a nice mixed drink menu and made a solid attempt at a craft beer menu. As a self-admitted beer snob, the beers weren’t great, but between draft and bottle options there were definitely a good number of them. Our service was good, and the staff was kind enough to bring us extra plates, forks, napkins, and a knife to cut the cake for the birthday girl. It was very nice of them to allow us to bring in the cake from the outside(as it is was from one of her favorite bakeries) versus forcing us to choose from the dessert menu. Overall, a very solid experience — worth another half-star if that were possible on Unilocal

I love Jimmy’s because they know what they are. Do the serve the best steak I ever tasted? No. But the serve the best steaks by far at there price point. It is easily possible to get a great steak wit a glass of wine for 35 including sides and tip a person. While the are better steaks for at least double the price, I give 5 stars for value received. Also great wait staff

The most amazing prime rib in the area for a very reasonable price. The drinks also go down easy since the martini’s are less than $ 10. The salads are fresh and the house dressing is delicious. The servers are attentive and most importantly the prime rib is always cooked to the right temperature. A must try if you’re in the area.

Steer clear of Jimmy’s Steer House. I was very disappointed. I ordered the prime rib and it had too much fat and inedible parts. For the 10 oz prime rib, about 6.5 oz were edible and the remaining 3.5 oz were inedible. I do not think they have a good beer selection either. The quality of steak was standard, but I do not think you get your money’s worth. Even with the bread, rice, small cup of chowder, and beer with a total bill of 24.50 including tax, I still do not think you get your money’s worth. The only really good thing I can say about this place is the selection. They do have a lobster roll special going until the end of the month. I do not know if their lobster rolls are any good, but I guess it is something to consider. Good service, but not so good product. I am still on the fence about whether I want to go back and try a different type of steak. I will weigh other options in the meantime.

The value for what you get at his restaurant is incredible. I had broiled scrod with vegetables and a salad for my meal. People in my party had food allergies that were accommodated. My friend got the teriyaki steak and crabmeat pie and he said it was delicious! The chicken Parmesan is awesome too. Been to the Arlington location, which is the original and just as good! There is a large bar area with a full liquor bar and a good selection of beers on tap.
