Walked in 15 min late because visiting out of town and front desk tells me I’m canceled!
You should warn someone on the phone if your going to be later than few minutes you will be canceled usually a spa would say your time will be cut! When I called to say i was going to be late

I had a wonderful bath and hot stone massage. Everyone I met was friendly. The bath relaxed my whole body. Jennifer gave me the hot stone massage and it was the best I’ve ever had! Too bad I don’t live in the area as I would be back often!

Get ready to soak in 97 degrees mineral carbonated bath water For 40 minutes. Although 40 minutes is a long time to sit in this temped water. I had to leave the tub twice just to cool my body. I felt a little nauseous by the end of the experience but later in the day I really felt great. Not a single ache in my body! Just be aware the water is discolored due to all the minerals and elements.
The Relaxation area is newly renovated and very Comfy with complimentary fruit and tea. There are lounge seats where you can lay down with a blanket before and after your treatments. A good place to spend a few hours and take a nap lol.
There are fountains near the entrance where you can drink the real mineral water. Very carbonated and unusual taste.
Steam rooms were not unisex. Also the steam room was a little far from the locker rooms for men which made no sense.
Although an interesting experience not sure if we will come back to the spa. We will definitely be back for the park and trails!

Probably one of the WORST massages I ever had. It was more like a RUB down. This girl must’ve just got her massage therapist license. Absolutely zero skill in giving a massage.
The room was a little run down.
I was NEVER informed to arrive early to enjoy the benefits of the spa… sauna, relaxation room, etc. I wasn’t even OFFERED TO go into the relaxation room!!! As I as LEAVING the spa attendant told me next time I should come early so I could enjoy them… ya…nice to tell me as I am LEAVING.
When I inquired about the sauna, the girl at the desk stared at me as if I was asking a rude question. The girl next to her told her to give me $ 5 off my package.
My package was the bath (which definitely do) and an hour massage. I felt rushed from the moment I got there. I really appreciate a MASSAGE. I paid a lot of money to have a rub down. I am so disappointed with this place that I thought would be an amazing experience on a cold winter night.

The service and hospitality were just fine, but the facility suffers because it is owned by NYS, and therefore, the operating hotel does not feel inclined to engage in major renovations.
The spa rooms are original and intact, but the building feels as though it is being preserved, rather than being set up for modern success.
I would go back, but I hope that facilities upgrades are eventually allowed.

The setting for the spa is gorgeous… even though it was the middle of winter with fresh snow (so we didn’t do a whole lot of walking around the park), it is a lovely, peaceful natural setting but with some incredible old buildings throughout. All these old building contributed to the first issue we discovered, however, which is that it is quite difficult to find! Very poor signage, as well as misleading directions from staff at the hotel. Granted, some of the roads were closed due to lack of plowing, so perhaps better at certain times of year, but need to be a bit more clear!
We did not have a mineral bath, which is one of the signature things they are known for. It is quite a pricey spa, especially if you go on the weekend or over the holidays, when prices are hiked up significantly! For that price, I expect things to be fairly shwanky. While the overall ambiance and age of the buildings was lovely, the overall experience was not quite up to the same standard. The robes were very shabby and most were stained. The shower didn’t have proper hot water. The fruit basket in the relaxation area was empty all afternoon (though it was specifically mentioned to us on arrival that fruit would be available). You had to walk through the public reception area to get to many of the treatment rooms. The steam room was rather small and got quite cool before the next steaming kicked in. The relaxation room was otherwise quite nice, with a lovely water feature and fairly comfy seating.
I was supposed to get a deep tissue massage (which cost extra), but that really didn’t seem to be what I got. My masseuse told me she was going to give me «cranio-​sacral therapy», which took up a good part of my time, and was sort of the anti-​thesis of deep tissue, being very small, gentle rocking motions of my head. On the one hand, I appreciate an experience masseuse taking some initiative in what she thinks would benefit me personally; however, I didn’t feel like I got particularly what I paid for and got the impression that it was more something she personally like to do (or had just gotten certified in?) than that it was specifically tailored for me. Still an ok massage, but nothing special and not what I expected. On the other hand, my mother felt that she had the best facial she’s had in a long time (Arctic Berry, I think?); she really appreciated that the woman was quite firm in her touch and did a bit more facial massage.
Overall, it was ok. The atmosphere outside is lovely, and parts of the inside are great, but clearly rather dated facilities and some of the little pampering details you expect at this pricepoint are missing. We had hit-​and-​miss experiences with our treatments. My mother may try to return for more facials, but I would be more likely to try elsewhere next time for a massage.

Wow… I’ve lived in the area for most of my life but today was my first visit to this gem. Make sure you arrive early to take advantage of the steam room and relaxation room with comp beverages and fruit.
Had an incredibly salt scrub with Darlene, who was amazing, followed by a long mineral soak. Can’t even describe how good I feel! My skin is like silk and my muscles are completely relaxed. Now drinking lots of water to help the mineral bath’s detox effects work that much better.
Friendly, professional staff, gorgeous setting in the park and a beautiful building, combined with a terrific body treatment and quality time in the exquisite mineral waters, all buoyant and kind of fizzy… just heavenly. I cannot wait to go back!!!

I go to the Saratoga Springs area twice a year for professional events, and had wanted to go to the hot springs for some time based on a friend’s rave reviews. I managed to get an appointment at the Roosevelt Spa in October, and it was so delightful that I now tell people that I love that they MUST do this. It surpassed my expectations. While the setting is reminiscent of The Shining, the services are gracious, unpretentious and renewing. Hope you go!

I have had some great hot rock massages but this was not one of those times. The masseuse told me that she doesn’t like using the hot rocks the whole massage and only used them for half of the time even though I paid for a «hot rock» massage. I can handle the older-​style building. That wasn’t the problem. My issue was a sub-​par masseuse in what is supposed to be a good spa. My friend who got the deep tissue massage at the same time as I had my massage was much happier with her experience. If I come back I’ll have to try that one.

Dated infrastructure but hey, if you want a bubble bath then this is the place! The feeling of soaking in carbonated water is indescribable really and if you think you can imagine it you’re likely wrong. Besides, your skin when you get out, wow, a sea creature silky soft. Tell me you’re not making plans and wanting to go NOW…

Excellent respite during a sub-​zero day. A trip back in time and a terrific soak and steam.

The treatment exceeded my expectations. Professional, clean and relaxing. The history of the property added to the experience. If I don’t go back it will be because I moved!

I was very impressed with the Roosevelt Spa. My 3 sisters and I went Sunday and they managed to squeeze us in very last minute! I had gotten a massage a few years ago and I think the Roosevelt Spa has made some nice improvements since then. The ambiance was both classic and modern and in general super relaxing… and warm!
We enjoyed the Relaxation room with hot tea then the steam room after out 60 minute massages.
My masseuse was Nicholas and he was FANTASTIC. He really listened to me and even gave me some suggestions for at home loosening up my muscles. Staff was very professional and accommodating.
Definitely the place to go in Saratoga for a massage. I will try a facial soon also!

step back in time and enter the roosevelt mineral baths and spa for a super relaxing experience! i’ve been lucky enough to do the mineral bath here twice and each time it was extremely relaxing and therapeutic. for only $ 35 for a 45 minute soak, you can ease your achy bones in the bubbly mineral water. don’t be surprised by the rusty color and smell… the mineral water is a cool 50 degrees when it comes out of the ground so it is mixed with hot city water for your comfort. when this combining occurs, the water turns a rusty color. they have signs in each room that describe the mineral content of the water and what each mineral is good for.
the building is a bit run down in some areas but really that is part of the charm for me. i love the original tile. each bath room is it’s own separate room with a large soaking tub that is surprisingly deep. each room also contains its own private toilet/​sink and massage table. if i had to make a complaint it would be to ask for some dimmer lighting in the rooms, not flourescent. other than that this place is an absoute gem and i look forward to returning!

I came here for some pampering on my 30^th birthday and I’m so incredibly glad that I did. I schedule a mineral bath before an hour-​long massage, ending with a manicure and pedicure. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The locker room was very clean and the robes are very comfortable (just as you’d expect). The waiting lounge has a great selection of tea and is delightfully relaxing. The spa host was very nice and explained everything for me to expect for my soak and my massage (my first time ever for both!).
The mineral bath soak was even more amazing than I could have expected. The calming music they play is a great addition and the original tubs are so nifty. My massage therapist was very caring and made me feel very comfortable for my first massage ever. The nail technician was wonderful to chat with and did a spectacular job on my hands and feet. After all my treatments, I felt like the most important person in the world and dream of coming back here daily.

I found this place by accident two years ago when I was driving around the town. At that time, I didn’t have time for anything. I came back to the area since then but never had time to use this spa.
Finally after two long years of waiting, I finally made time for myself to enjoy the 40 mins of mineral bath. Wow, why did I wait so long?
When I called to make reservation, I was told to come in early to enjoy the facility. So I did. I showed up 45 mins before my appointment. Staff showed me the women’s locker, steam room, and relaxation room. I quickly changed to the nice robe to enjoy some time in the steam room, then laid at the nice lounge chair at the relaxation, enjoying a nice cup of herb tea.
Staff came to get me and showed me to the bath. She did warn me how deep the tub was (we can’t see the bottom due to its mineral water color), and sure enough, it was really deep. I soaked myself in the deep mineral water for 40 mins, relaxing my body and mind as they played nice calming music. I floated in the water for 40 mins and she gently knocked the door to let me know the time was up and had a warm towel for me.
My mind and body was so relaxed after the bath, my whole body felt so light.
We all need to treat ourselves from time to time. $ 35 was good price and I truly enjoyed my time here. I wish I live closer… I would be here every month! I will definitely make time to come back here every time I am in town. It is so worth it.

Beautiful place. Not the Four Seasons but that is clear from the very reasonable prices. If you like history and the power of nature to heal, this is your jam.
The mineral bath was a great experience, completely relaxing.
The attendant did not come back to get me in 40 minutes, the length that they give you to soak. I got myself out of the bath after about an hour or so. No clock in the room or with me so I had no idea what time it was. Apparently she was about to come and get me. I liked soaking longer, although my sister did have to wait for me.
Pros: The grounds outside are beautiful. If you like running, get a run in at this park– it’s quite epic.
Everyone who worked at the Spa & Baths was incredibly nice and welcoming, especially the manager. Sauna is an added plus that you can use for as long as you like before and/​or after the bath.
Cons– Yes, changing room is cramped, but whatever– I was in and out of there quickly.
For what you pay for the private bath and get out of it AND the service of the staff, definitely worth a 5 star rating.

I go to a lot of spas. My honeymoon was at a spa. Every time I travel for work, I find a spa. I am a MEMBER of my local spa and pay monthly like a gym membership.
Suffice to say, I know spas.
This renovated bath-​house from the 30s is not the most luxurious you’ll ever see and the ambiance is not overwhelmingly serene, but they offer wonderful services and they give 100% to the customer.
The mineral baths are very interesting and like nothing I’ve ever experienced. They are truly rejuvenating and healing.
As a caveat, I would have probably given the Spa 4 stars, but… wait for it…
I had two body-​work treatments on two different days.
One cranial-​sacral and one Reiki — which I must say — not every spa offers.
Fran, at the spa, is a miracle worker and I got more healing, relief and benefit from her two treatments than in all the treatments PUT TOGETHER that I’ve received at my posh San Francisco Spa with glowing amber light and cucumber/​eucalyptus steam rooms.
In terms of just SERVICE, you will not be disappointed. Just don’t expect «fancy.»

I wasn’t sure if I would like this place since I’m not one to do a lot of silly, frou frou, pampering things, but I have to confess that this was one of the best experiences in my life. I was involved in a nasty car accident about two years ago which left me with aches and pains in my neck, back, and knee. My chiropractor was singing the praises of warm-​water hydrotherapy treatments, and told me to watch for places that offer those services. So on a recent trip to Saratoga Springs to visit my Dad I discovered a whole bunch of warm-​water mineral baths where you can just soak in a tub for about 30 minutes.
While staying at the Gideon Putnam Resort, I saw the brochure for the Roosevelt Mineral Baths & Spa which can be found right around the corner. The Baths are located within Saratoga’s Spa State Park in walking distance of the Gideon Putnam. From the outside this place looks massive — a Gothic-​columned, brick-​faced facility. I made my appointment for a 40-​minute soak ($ 30) and wandered over at the appropriate time to surrender my dignity and ease some of my pain.
I was met at the front reception area by a very nice lady who explained that I would first go to the Men’s locker room to undress and put on a heavy cotton spa robe and flip flops, and then relax in the waiting area for my therapist. She spent a few moments telling me about the history of this facility, and the therapeutic wonders of hydrotherapy. From what I was told, for more than a century, travelers flocked to Saratoga Springs to soak in the area’s famed, soothing mineral waters.
By the mid 1800’s, bathing in the mineral waters had become a common health treatment. The historic Roosevelt Baths and Spa opened in 1935, and many believed that regular bathing in mineral springs was an important factor in preventive health care and that using the mineral springs assisted in reducing stress and strengthening the body’s overall functioning.
After a bit of Zen-​like meditation in the Relaxation Room my therapist took me down a very long hallway to my private spa treatment room, and here I found a bathtub — sunken into the floor — filled with warm mineral-​laced water. There was a small poster in the room listing the various minerals which were dissolved in the water, and the anticipated therapeutic benefits.
The tub was deeper than expected — maybe three feet — so you really sank down into the water. The hydrotherapy spa staff drew the mineral baths to the proper temperature (97 – 100 degrees) by adding a small amount of hot, fresh water to the natural, cold mineral water. So for 40 incredible minutes, I soaked in the warm water, enjoying every single moment.
After the soak I went back to the locker room to take a cool shower, and then down the hall to the steam room for a few more minutes of enjoyable relaxation. By the time my therapy was done I had worked the kinks out of my neck and back, and was feeling one heck of a lot better.
For those who enjoy the pampered life, the Roosevelt Spa ofers a full line of luxurious massages, facials, and other beauty treatments. I was just happy to soak in the warm baths for a while.
