Description

Specialties

Nancy has been Sarasota’s preferred barbecue caterer for the last seven years; now she’s partnered with the Caragiulo brothers to open Nancy’s Bar-B-Q restaurant in downtown Sarasota, offering barbecue pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, Texas Hot Links and chilled fillet of salmon, all oak smoked on the premises.

The eatery-style (fast casual) format offers meals assembled to order and communal seating indoors, on the screen porch, or outside at the (dog friendly) picnic tables.

Beer and wine is available, and all major credit cards are accepted.

History

Established in 2003.

Nancy Krohngold confesses she maybe a category of one: «I’m a white Jewish woman making pork barbecue.»

Raised in Sarasota, Krohngold’s personal passion for food and cooking turned toward barbecue eight years ago when a New York Times story inspired her to make Carolina style barbecue pulled pork. She was smitten by the process and the incomparable flavor; soon she was accepting orders for pork barbecue dinners, and was catering events and staging «stealth» lunch concessions at venues announced through social media.

Krohngold opened Nancy’s Bar-B-Q in historic Burns Square in downtown Sarasota, Florida in march, 2011.

Business Owner

Nancy Krohngold confesses she may be a category of one: «I’m a white Jewish woman making pork barbecue.»

Raised in Sarasota, FL, Krohngold took turns at secretarial work, sales, food service, law school and graphic design. Yet her enduring passion was always food and cooking, and in 2003 a New York Times story inspired her to make Carolina style barbecue pulled pork. She was smitten by the process and the incomparable flavor, and shared it with family and friends. Thanks to word of mouth, she was soon accepting orders for pork barbeque dinners, which led to catering events and staging «stealth» lunch concessions at private venues announced through social media.
