Dominic and Paradise Custom Pools was recommended to us by John at Carefree and Quality Pool Care and we couldn’t have been happier. Our 1970’s pool was in desperate need of renovation. The coping, tile and plaster had to be redone. Dominic helped us in picking the right materials and finished the job in 5−½ weeks (a 1−½ week delay waiting for the right material). Paradise Custom Pools exceeded our expectations restoring & repairing the community pool at the Horizon Village Home Owners Association in Santee, managed by The Golden Girls at MPM Realty & Property Management. We needed to re-​plaster our dated pool. We had been putting it off for a few years, and finally decided to get moving on the project. We collected a few quotes, and a colleague at work gave me Dominic’s name as he had just completed her pool remodel, and I came over and saw the mini-​pebble finish work he had done. He was prompt in responding to my request to schedule an estimate, and gave us a no nonsense quote, and was very straightforward throughout the entire process. He was frank in giving us tips and his opinions in some of the materials choices and his reasons why, yet he was also no-​pressure and did not try to ‘over-​sell’ anything which I greatly appreciated. He was easy to work with, gave us a great and fair price, and we had no trouble at all when we wanted to incorporate a baja shelf into the design after receiving the initial quote, and he made recommendations to put an umbrella sleeve into the shelf so we could have an umbrella in the shallow end if we desired. We would have never thought of that on our own. The overall remodeling process went smoothly and without any significant issues despite the age of our pool, and we were extremely satisfied with the work and the professionalism of the work crew. Any minor questions I had were answered by the crew or by Dominic right away. We went with a quartzite coping surround that we hand picked from a local rock yard, a black mini-​pebble surface, and a rustic turquoise tile that all look great together. I love the dark water look of our pool. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend working with Dominic and Paradise Pools.

Just finished up our complete pool remodel and spa addition. They both look incredible and are very well built. Dominic’s crew is top notch and they really care about their work. Every step of the way his technicians checked with us to make sure we were happy. We also had our concrete patio replaced at the same time and Paradise worked with that contractor to coordinate the crews. Overall we are very happy with the results and have referred them to our neighbors who are also doing a full remodel. Great company and a fair price. :)

Just have to say what a wonderful job this pool company did for our old, rundown pool! Dominic is a great and easy going person that will make your dream pool a reality. Our pool is stunning!

We had our pool resurfaced with pebble and retiled with Dominic and Paradise. Originally we were only going to replaster. Domininic gave us the option on the pebble finish and we went with it. We love it and it has a lifetime guarantee. The retile was done perfect. The whole job was done professionally and quick. We could not be happier with the results. This company has been in business a long time and they really know their stuff! I highly recommend Dominic and Paradise.

Once the decision was made to remodel the pool and pool decking for a house in El Cajon I did a considerable amount of research and got several estimates. For the pool part of the job I chose Paradise Custom Pools to replace the tile and plaster and to install a new pool heater and pump. After the owner Dominic came out to check the pool and give me some ideas I went to the location in Santee to look at the tiles and options for the project. After some discussion and weighing the pros and cons of the products, warranties, and the look I wanted I ended up replacing the white plaster with Stonescapes Tahoe Blue Mini Pebble. I have done lots of home remodels and have learned that everyone should go into these major projects with all the moving parts expecting some hiccups. What matters is how these are handled. Dominic always quickly replied back to me and always answered my questions and most importantly resolved the minor issues. I am a perfectionist and I could tell Dominic takes pride in his business and in how the pools come out. He went above and beyond to leave me with a beautiful job well done and the security to know he is a phone call away. By the end of the pool remodel it was very clear to me that Dominic cares about not only the outcome of the job but the customer’s complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Paradise Custom Pools, the owner Dominic, and his crews. I always expect a five star finish in the end and I am very happy that this job and the whole experience was five stars plus.

Awful customer service. Hector set up 2 appointments with me and tried canceling both. A pretty good indication that if I had actually hired him, my pool might take years to build. Secondly he was suppose to follow up with me with an estimate and no follow up no response to my text messages. Really awful customer service so spare yourself the stress.

Dominic and his crew just finished up last week and the pool looks great. We had it resurfaced with tahoe blue mini pebbles and the project took about 4 weeks. Delays were caused by weather and the two long holiday weekends for Christmas and New Year. But I told him at the start when I want the total project done and it was one week ahead of schedule.
When it was all done, my light wasn’t working and Dominic fixed it the next day by replacing the whole light assembly.
Overall a good experience and service.

We moved into our new place and decided to remodel the pool. We chose Paradise based on recommendations and was thrilled with their performance and the outcome. We replaced plaster with Pebble Tech mini pebbles and got new pumps (waterfall and pool) and filter (replaced D.E. with cartridge). The crews on each phase of the job were like a well-​oiled machine — the job was done on time and neatly and every single worker was pleasant and considerate. Dominic was a great communicator throughout, promptly responding to emails and phone calls. I highly recommend this company (and I rarely take time to write a review).

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! The price might seem attractive, but you get what you pay for. The job was botched from the start. He didn’t fill the pool fast enough, so the sides of the pool discolored. Then about 4 years after they did the work, the plaster started to blister. I called him many times regarding this, since it was still under warranty, and Dominic would send out different guys every time, and each gave a different reason, and the last few said there is nothing they could do. The reason it was blistering was because when they were spreading the plaster they guys wore spikes on their shoes, well that created air pockets in the plaster that eventually became blister, which then turned black. The pool looks horrible and needs to be redone again, after only 8 years.
Not to mention, I asked for a receipt for the salt water system that he installed, I never got it, and was told «Sorry, I forget it again» every time.
Trust me, not these other people that gave him 5 stars, poor workmanship, poor timing, poor follow up, and didn’t fulfill warranty when something went wrong.
AVOID!!!

When we were looking to remodel our pool, we read reviews, talked to several friends and our pool guy. Everyone we talked to had one name; Dominic at Paradise Custom Pools. We got three bids anyway but Dominic had the best bid… and he’s a local guy. I was very impressed when we asked him about shallowing our pool (to keep it warmer) and he didn’t recommend it. It would have been expensive to do and he could have taken our money, but instead he saved us thousands by telling us it wasn’t worth it. .He and his team were awesome right from the start, even when we changed our minds and asked for changes, or added features, he was always patient and professional. He was honest and told us when things would or wouldn’t look good, which I really appreciated. He gave us a bid, stayed right on it and was right on schedule. We also had a concrete company and landscaper coordinating with Dominic and they all worked together perfectly. The end result was the most beautiful pool we’ve ever seen! We went from an apartment complex looking pool to a resort pool and we couldn’t be happier! I look at reviews like the 1 star review listed here and have to ask myself if it’s made up or she had the wrong company because I will recommend Dominic and Paradise Custom Pools to anyone!

Dominic and the entire crew from Paradise Custom Pools did an amazing job on our pool resurfacing. We went from plaster to pebble and added a baja step. Not only does it look fantastic but we were in our pool in about a week. Dominic and his team went out of their way to answer every question we had. His team works works together so well and so seamlessly, it was a treat to watch.

I just finished a very significant pool /​spa remodel with Dominic of Paradise Custom Pools. It’s worth noting right up front that I received several bids for my pool work and Paradise Custom Pools was the most competitive. Overall, I am thrilled with the results. Dominic walked me through every step during the bidding process and we ultimately settled on a plan. During the course of the remodel, we made a few changes to things based on my preferences and his constructive feedback. Since a pool guy is really a pool team, I would add that all of the people who showed up and worked at my house were friendly and professional, and seemed to be very competent. What I really enjoyed seeing and experiencing, was several of Dominic’s team members thinking critically about my project as it was underway and making suggestions on how to maximize the quality of the design. That is, they didn’t just show up and follow a script without thinking of the end result, but were rather clearly motivated by the end result at all times. Finally, the project finished on-​time and on-​budget, which is always appreciated, but rarely experienced with major remodels. Thanks Paradise Custom Pools; I am looking forward to the summer with my new backyard.

After spending a couple of years searching for the perfect backyard retreat I stumbled upon Paradise Custom Pools. Having a smaller backyard and much consultation with Dominic we decided to have Paradise build us an oversize custom spa. Dominic is very knowledgeable and told us all the pros and cons of all the different kinds of finishes we could get for the spa. His team was highly motivated and finished each job as scheduled. Bottom line is, out of all the upgrades we’ve done to our home, my Paradise Spa is the best upgrade and most used space at our home. We love our Paradise Spa and highly recommend Dominic and Paradise Custom Pools to everyone that is looking to truly enjoy their home.

Paradise pools did a refinish of our pool a couple years ago. In the end I was happy with the speed of the job and the final outcome looked good with the exception of one spot in the pebble finish that was discolored from the rest. It was a small spot that always bothered me but I am not the type to be picky or complain so I just left it. Summer 2011 my parents decided to put a pool and hot tub in. Since we had used Paradise pools before we recommended them to my parents. Long story short, this turned out to be a huge mistake. The project went on WAY to long. Dominick’s famous words are «I’ll be there on Monday» and when he fails to call or show up he has a ready made excuse. He seems to pass on that attitude to some of his fellow workers. The guy that installed the waterfall did not show up the day he was supposed to so that by the time he was finishing, they were literally pouring in the cement around him. Once the stamped concrete went on, my dad realized the waterfall had not been put in level. This then required the stamped concrete to be busted up to fix the waterfall. The new concrete that they poured of course did not color match with the rest so there are 3 mismatched pieces right at the focal point of the entire project.
The pebble finish is so rough that my 5 year old nephew got a large abrasion on his ankle while swimming. I have the pebble finish in my pool and it is not rough. Multiple spots (especially in the hot tub) are so rough that our bathing suit catches on it. Most edges and corners of the hot tub are still plain blue instead of pebble due to a lack of attention to detail. I specifically asked the guy if he would fix those finishes and he promised he would. Any contractor can slap together a new pool but only a professional who is truly dedicated and passionate about what they do will pay attention the small finishes.
This company will say what ever you want to hear to make you happy at the time but rarely follow through with what they say they will. The communication is terrible and Dominick would go for days without returning a call from my dad after failing to show up to a scheduled appointment.
So after struggling through the construction process you can imagine how happy we were to finally get water in the pool. We waited all day and night for the pool to fill only to find out the thing was leaking and coming out the brand new retaining wall! Multiple calls were put out to the company to help us find the leak (they will never answer their phone). When they finally came out to check out the leak they could not figure it out and were at a loss. My dad ended up having to hire a diver himself to search the pool for the leak. It turned out there was a crack by the skimmer. The fix… a tiny patch job. We are looking forward to the day that the piece of gum filling in the hole fails and the pool leaks again.
So now the pool is full and time to use it. Dominick again with his poor communication failed to inform us that the great new system they installed allows only the pool OR the hot tub to heat. We are unable to heat them both at the same time. Also, if you want to heat the hot tub you have to have the jets going. If you turn the jets off to enjoy some quiet time, the hot tub will cool right down. Then the jets stopped working. Turns out there was something not right about the plumbing and we needed to add a blower on. This mistake of theirs cost my dad an extra $ 300.
In the end we are getting enjoyment out of the pool, overall it looks good. But the details of the job look and functions like it was done by a rookie… or someone who just doesn’t care. Not worth the large amount of money that was spent. I would NOT recommend this company due to the poor communication, lack of following through with promises and the poor attention to detail work (which to me is the difference between a great contractor and a guy who installs pools for a living).
PS– even the general contractor on this project said he will not use this company anymore due to multiple problems with them on this and other projects.
