I would not recommend Jessica Smith! During the tax preparation I thought she was great, but when I left I realized otherwise. She encouraged me to file taxes and then file an amendment later so that I could get a refund quicker, which I had already told her wasn’t important to me. When it came time for the amendment she told me it was an additional $ 200 for her time and mailing. I paid the fee but then was also required to pay for mailing which went to the wrong location due to her in accurately addressing envelopes. It is now a year later and I’ve yet to receive the amended refund. When I brought this frustration to her attention she simply stated that she must have forgot to disclose her fees when recommending an amendment.
She also purposely falsified tax information based on feedback from other individuals who met with her. I did submit a claim with the IRS based on the grounds of an unethical tax preparer. It has been a nightmare dealing with this for the past year and will definitely be visiting someone with standards, morals, and ethics this tax season as an audit is not ideal.
