Plaza Grooming

We have consistently been happy with Plaza Grooming. Ginger, our Yorkie/​Chihuahua mix, gets so excited when we pull up in front of the shop. It’s clear that she is treated well there. They always do exactly what we ask and it usually takes just a few hours. Ginger comes back smelling great, with soft fur, trimmed nails, and just the right haircut or trim. The women there are friendly, gentle with the dogs, and it’s reassuring to see the same people each time we go even though it’s only every couple months. They will trim her nails without an appointment, which is a nice bonus because sometimes that’s all she needs in-​between full-​service grooming. Their prices aren’t cheap but they are fair, and worth the excellent service they provide. Pets are members of the family so it’s important to find people you can trust. We are pleased to recommend Plaza Grooming.

Great ladies, my pug has been terrible for years about getting his nails trimmed. They took him in and got done, he was excited and he didn’t cringe when we returned. He danced for them after when he got his cookie. It is the best.

I have been taking my maltipoo to Plaza Grooming for over 5 years. I appreciated their reasonable prices and the way my dog looked when I picked her up.
However, over the past year, the quality has decreased. The last three times I’ve taken my dog in something has gone wrong. The first time my dog came home she had razor burn on her butt. It was very red and I had to go get some medication to relieve the pain. I talked to them the next time when I brought my dog in and they said they’d be careful. A couple of days after the next grooming, I noticed that there were sores on her flank near the base of her tail. I knew that there wasn’t any way the groomer could have missed this. When I spoked to them about it, they said they find that usually the owners know of these sores so they don’t mention them. Because I’d always had such good service from them I took my dog in again. She was matted in places; it’s hard with poodles to keep those at bay. I told them to go ahead and do the best they could. In years past when she’s had some matting, my dog came back looking beautiful. This time she had high and low places on her fur and some places she was near bald. I wasn’t there to pick her up and so I didn’t get to say anything to them about it. But I felt I gave them a fair shake in giving my dog a good grooming.
I will be finding a new groomer through Unilocal and save my dog the pain and inattention that became their standard.

Kristin is fabulous! I took my dog here at the recommendation of my daughter-​in-​law. She has taken her Cocker doodle there a couple of times and told me how pleased she is with the service. I’m pretty particular about my dog Jasmine and her groomers, so I was a little nervous trying someplace new. My dog hasn’t had the best experiences with groomers, she absolutely hates going.
I felt pretty confident as I described the cut that I was looking for; Kristen knew exactly what I was talking about.
When I picked up my dog, I couldn’t believe how absolutely darling she looked! Kristen did a fabulous job on my Jasmine, it is exactly, no BETTER than what I expected!
The price is what I have been paying at other groomers, so it seems to be the going rate. I’m happy to pay for excellent service and a professional who knows what she’s doing.
I highly recommend Plaza Groomers, The shop is clean, the dogs seemed happy, but best of all, the cut was better than I expected! Very, very satisfied!

I love plaza grooming… the prices are affordable, staff is friendly, and walk-​in service for nail trimmings are quick. I was in & out with my 2 chihuahua in less than 15 minutes. I think the total was only $ 18, which is about $ 2 cheaper than others in the area. We will continue to go to Plaza Grooming for their monthly nail trims!

This is a great place to bring your pets for grooming. They are very friendly and my labradoodle has never looked better. Very reasonable prices too! Great value!

I took my Shepard mix to plaza grooming hoping that they would take great care of her since the reviews were all 5 stars. My dog is nervous because she is a rescue. I When I dropped my dog off it was fast and somewhat easy. I made sure my dog had went to the restroom & was ready to have a grooming. I waited 4 solid hours before getting a call back. Paid 40 $ with a 10 $ tip. She looked great. The lady said she gave her a «anti dust» protectant. As soon as I left my dog immediately needed to use the restroom. Implying that they had not taken her while being groomed. When we got home my dog ran to the water also letting me know that they had not taken the time to make sure she was hydrated. It has been three days since I brought her in & now my dog is covered in little scabs. I am not sure how hard they brushed her or if the repellant coat they put on her has made her very sick. My dog has not been able to eat since she went here. I do not recommend this place to ANYONE. Drop off your beloved animals at petsmart or Petco where it is mandatory to take proper care of your pets! GO TO PLAZA GROOMING AT YOUR OWN RISK! To the manager reading this review, you should be ashamed of your employees for making my dogs sick!

I am so glad I found this place! Great price – only $ 45 for my maltipoo, Athena, for a full wash/​groom, and they also include cleaning her ears and teeth, and cutting her nails. They are very flexible on pick-​up times (I have to pick up after 5pm because of work, and they are fine with that). Also, every person I’ve met who works there is very friendly. They always take Athena to the bathroom and give her treats, and always make sure they know exactly how I want them to cut her hair.
I will continue going back here!

I can’t say enough about Plaza Grooming, they are accommodating as possible and everyone is very kind. I think their prices are more than fair and I’ve always been very happy. (the dogs don’t seem to mind too much either)
It’s not a high end fancy, schmancy place but that’s not what I’m looking for.
I get the sense that the people there really like animals and that means a lot to me.
I can’t help but recommend them but hope they don’t get too busy!

This place is great! No matter when I call they always try to get me in that same day or the next day. They follow any suggestions I have about the cut of my dog, remember me when I call and he always looks perfect.

I have been taking my bulldogs here for several years now and am SO happy I found this place. They are so quick, convenient and most of all, inexpensive! They make our dogs feel so comfortable and happy while they get their nails trimmed and glands done. We live in Petaluma and looked everywhere before we found them. I don’t mind one bit to bring the dogs up to Santa Rosa knowing they are so well taken care of. We are literally in and out of there within 10 minutes. Love this place!

I LOVE this place! After spending several years getting gouged by having the vet do my dogs’ nails for $ 20 each or big box store groomers do them for the same price but not so great service, I finally found Plaza Grooming in Unilocal.
The location is very convenient to get to, and they have a 10 minute quick parking area out front for people who do drop in nail trims. You can’t beat the price, and they are so good with my dogs, who howl like I am torturing them when I have tried to trim their nails, but do minimal crying with the groomers. They are fast and friendly!

Courteous, professional and timely. I’ve been taking my dogs here for over 10 years and they always come happy and clean. I couldn’t recommend Plaza Grooming more highly!

Well folks, it happened again. My poodle got the poop smeared all over her rear end and I needed some help. I called all around looking for a same day groom and couldn’t find anyone who would take my Mitzy. I called Plaza and they chuckled and said bring her in! They were fully booked but promptly gave her a sanitary cut for $ 5! Quick and easy. I gave them a good tip and was glad that nightmare was over.

I wish I had a better review to post here, but I would be lying if I said I was happy, or even just feeling neutral.
I made an appointment a few weeks ago to bring my cat Tippy to Plaza Grooming at 10AM today (August 15^th) to be shaved. I have never been to this place, but I saw it had better reviews than most places, so I figured why not?
I dropped Tippy off at 10AM, and the first thing I thought was odd was that the girl said Tippy would be ready around 3 or 4PM and that I would get a phone call. Grooming never takes more than about 3 hours, for one, and two, if it was going to take that long in the first place, why did I even make an appointment? But I decided, against my better judgment, to not question it. I mentioned to the girl that Tippy is deaf and gets really anxious at times, especially when you brush or shave her tummy, and to call if there were any problems, and she said it wouldn’t be an issue. I had also asked them to leave Tippy’s tail the way it is, since she doesn’t have an actual tail, it’s a puff-​ball of fur essentially. The girl wrote it down and said no problem. Cool.
I did some errands and stuff, and by the time I was done with the last errand, it was about 410PM and I hadn’t received a call. So I drove over and sat in my car, thinking it would only be a couple minutes before I got the call. 430PM rolled around and no call, so I decided to go in. The girl I left Tippy with in the morning was only just shaving Tippy then, and asked me to give her 20 minutes or so, and when I peeked around the wall, she had just begun shaving Tippy. I was annoyed, but I said okay and I went home to wait, since it wasn’t very far. I sat around waiting for the call for almost an hour, and finally at 530PM I called them, to find that Tippy was done. So where was my phone call?
I got there, and there was another woman who brought Tippy back for me. I explained to her that I was unhappy that it took 7+ hours to groom my cat when I made a morning appointment, that when I came in a half hour past the later time I was told it would be longer, and that I never got a phone call. She explained that one of the groomers called out and that they were overbooked. Now I can understand being shorthanded, but I wasn’t thrilled that they overbooked and decided to let my cat sit around all day. I would have rather been told to bring her in a little later when they had caught up a bit. The woman initially offered me a free grooming, which I declined because I’m moving out of the country in three days, and she later gave me back half of my money, which I really appreciate.
However, when I went to check Tippy over, she wouldn’t come near the crate door until we were back home where she knew her surroundings. I also discovered that they shaved her tail off, and that honestly was the last straw. I only asked for one thing to be done, and even though it was written down to leave it, they still shaved it off. There is a stub of fur where her puff-​ball used to be. I actually cried when I found that. I won’t be back for two reasons, moving being one of them. The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is because the second woman did give me half of my money back, apologized profusely, offered me a free grooming, and overall the grooming looks decent, aside from the tail. I really don’t know if I can recommend this place, though.

I am quite disappointed that Unilocal decided to filter my review, considering that I had a legitimately awful experience with this grooming shop (and because of it, 7 months later, I have yet to take my cat to another groomer out of fear of this happening again).

I loved this place ever since I brought my poodle mix in the first time but I love them even more after learning they help out California Animal Rescue with grooming pets that are to be adopted! Support them! Great grooming and they have big hearts!!! Will never go elsewhere with my dog!

I take my two basset hounds here to get their nails clipped. They do a fantastic job! I’ve never had to make an appointment or wait more than a few minutes for nails. They remember my dogs by name and what they need done. They clip the bulk of the nail then use an electric filer to smooth the edges and get them a little shorter. One of the dogs gets skittish around the clippers but the ladies here are so sweet and patient with him. Can’t say enough great thing about them!
In and out in 15 minutes and for $ 10: I’m happy! The dogs get a treat after: they’re happy!
