Fountaingrove Inn

Well, I was going to start using this hotel for the contractors I have coming in to work on my home but will no longer be using them. I reserved a room through
and was under the impression that I had paid for the room, apparently, I only guaranteed the room but had not paid for it. My contractor complained that he had paid for the room and not me. I called the hotel for clarification and the guy was so rude when when I asked him for further clarification, he hung up on me!!! There are much nicer hotels where the staff are not rude!

Could easily give them a 5 star just because of their front office manager, but then there would be nothing to strive for. This place is clean, comfortable, and not too bad of a price. We have stayed here numerous times, and have never been disappointed. You can get a good nights sleep, and then go down, and have a really good breakfast where everything is supplied by locals. Easy on, and off the freeway. Incredibly friendly staff eager to help you with all your needs, and wants. I can recommend this place with confidence.

Stayed 1 night on 2÷1÷16 on the 2^nd floor in back of hotel. The Good: The room is excellent. Espresso machine is good. Comfortable bed. Has small gym. Small restaurant. Many restaurants close by. Props to the staff at the front desk. The Bad: WiFi slow. The Conclusion: I will come back.

CHRIS at the front desk was SO HELPFUL and empathetic to me and my brothers situation, mother is hospital, helped us get a room last minute and was even asking how she was! what a GREAT employee. Also, the rooms are super clean, the pillows and beds super comfy, and rooms super dark in morn. Quiet as well. WILL DEF RETURN!!!

Arrived for a late check in about 1130. After a somewhat odd experience with the late night front desk person Trevor, we got our room. My wife later phoned the front desk (Trevor) to ask where the ice machine was. He stated that he did not know where it was and that we should go out and find it. We were somewhat surprised at the level of service so I phoned the front desk to speak with a manager. Again Trevor answered and stated he was the closest thing to a manager that was present. I proceeded to tell him that we were not very happy with the level of service he was providing and that our previous stay went very well. He told me that I was overreacting and it was not a big deal. I said that wasn’t the point. Trevor then proceeded to accuse me of wanting something free for nothing. I told him that I had not asked for anything but to be treated with respect. I then asked to be refunded for the room as we no longer wanted to stay here. Trevor stated he could not «do that» without a manager. Long story short we left the hotel at about one in the morning to find another room with hopes that we would not to be charged for that one.

It started out good… But then we left early in the morning because it was just time to go when we saw weird people walking around the premises. During Christmas night, we were ready to order our Christmas room service and without telling us they closed the service down an hour before. We were starving and hoping for steak and wine… instead had to have Dominos Pizza! No communication. The Internet was extremely slow and cut out. The heater was either too hot or too cold. The place was not lit at all at night we were very afraid in the second building to go to our car. Nice staff on the phones, though and working there. Very helpful. The Type of cable company I think Direct TV was very outdated and hard to figure out what was on and slow to change channels. The soaps they have smell bad. Everything is mint… I hate mint. I was just expecting more from them.

We have been staying at this hotel for over 20 years. During that time the property has steadily gone down hill, suffering from lack of maintenance and updating. Starting in the lobby the furnishings are dirty and worn, Throughout the property there are large cracks in the walls, scrapes in the wallpaper, and just plain dirt everywhere.
Our stay this week was our last. Being frequent visitors we were upgraded to a Junior Suite in the «second» building. The problem with this building is that it is a two story structure with no elevator. There is a «ground level» entry to the second floor, it is via a very long pathway that opens onto a pavement and gravel covered dead end access road.
There were a number of abandoned cars on this road and it was completely unlighted at night. Over half of the lights on the walk way had been smashed and were not working. The entry itself was dirty, it appeared to be a utility entry used for dumping trash.
The «Junior Suite» was a full blown nightmare. The HVAC did not work, and although we are well into fall it was very hot and stuffy in the room and no way at all to cool down. The windows were made to open, but they were stuck shut from years of filth.
We were able to open one window, but there was no screen and bugs quickly came into the room. The vent in the bathroom was covered in lint to the point it was useless. Within minutes of our walking in two of the overhead lights stopped working.
The real deal killer was the bed. There was an extreme «dip» in the bed just where your back would be. Both my wife and I suffered extreme pain after less than an hour in the bed.
We had booked the room for two days, but left the first night at 9:30 PM and went home. We contacted the hotel through
to request we only be charged for the first night, but received no reply and the hotel charged us for both nights, TWICE.
This is a property we had enjoyed staying at for 20 years but that is over now. Save yourself the disappointment and just avoid this place.

We stayed at this hotel for an evening. It’s located right off the CA 101 North and situated close to Trader Joe’s (Cleveland Ave) and many restaurants providing much culinary diversity. Upon arrival the hotel itself looks older, but, not in a state of disrepair. Walking inside we immediately noticed a musky smell, so, if one has mold reactivity or allergies they might want to pass on this location. Still, the age of the building adds to its appeal. Upon checking-​in we were greeted by the friendliest and most knowledgeable concierge to date. He informed us accurately of the closest wineries (the concierge instructed us to name drop at the wineries and we did receive discounts accordingly) and reminded us of the nightly wine tastings at the hotel itself.
If memory serves, check-​in is 3pm and house cleaning was still cleaning rooms around our room at that time, although, we didn’t have to wait. We asked to be in a quiet area of the hotel and that’s what we got on the second floor. There is no elevator but if one drives and parks around the rear of the building there’s an entrance on that level (the 2^nd floor). The room was large enough (double queens) and we were happy that both windows opened to air out the musky smell and yet high enough that we could safely keep them open overnight and while not in the room. The bathroom fixtures including toilet (slow flush) are consistently old as well. WIFI in our room is very weak and almost unusable.
Since the entire hotel has a dated charm, at one point we stood at the top of the landing coming up from the pool and peering down the long hallway were reminded of the Overlook Hotel from the movie The Shining (all that was missing was the two little girls in blue dresses).
The pool downstairs/​outside is very cold and our child didn’t last long; thank goodness the hot tub is toasty. We peeked inside the hotel restaurant but thought it too pricey. The hotel is easy to spot as there’s an historic building to its rear: a round barn built by the son of a samurai and apparently one of the first wine producers in the area (we explored the outside of the unique barn but be careful as there’s apparently no shortage of Black Widow and Brown Recluse spiders and rattlesnakes inside).
We would stay here again lacking other options, but, the surrounding area really is beautiful so why be a creature of familiarity…

I wanted to give this place more stars because I’ve stayed here several times and I always had a good experience bug the last two time they have a front desk drill sergeant Marybel annoying and needs better hospitality skills. The rooms are very nice and clean that why I keep coming back

I came in the day after the Valley Fire begun and I was quite, bedraggled, confused, worried. All due to the fact that our home was in the center of the fire.
The staff took over, they got me settled in a comfortable room, even went so far as to ask if I had enough clothes because their were donations available. The best part was they Listened, emphasized, Apologized for my loss, Problem solved. Even better they all did it with a smile. Oh, and due to my unfortunate event gave us a special rate.
The staff is 4 star, 4 diamond.
The restaurant and bar on property are great, recommend the martini, my wife loved it,
The front desk was an Angel in my time of suffering. If you have a chance it is well worth the stay.

This hotel is seriously not worth the premium rate they charge. I’ve seen better amenities at the discount brands of the major hotel chains. They’re got the fancy-​looking minimal furnishings in the lobby and that online picture of the pool makes it look twice as nice, but the rooms are poorly appointed. The bathroom looked like it was spec-​ed out of a discount catalog — no soap holder in the shower/​bath, no grooming extras (q-​tips) etc., light switches that reminded me of my college apartment. In short, no thought given to the little details that all the real hotels seem to have figured out by now. It felt like an amateur operation put together by some investors who saw a good opportunity in wine country, but have zero real experience in the hospitality business.
The staff were nice enough, but for what this place is offering, next time I’ll be looking for something else

It’s a nice enough place, lobby is beautiful and the rooms are above average. Staff, too, is pretty friendly and the facilities are nice. Room service/​food, however is HORRIBLE.
The first day we waited 45 minutes for our room service order and when it finally arrived my dad’s burger and fries along with my prawns were lukewarm, and my mom’s salad had become a bit soggy and a bit warmer than room temperature. Not to mention they brought my parents the wrong wine. Second afternoon, we thought we’d give it another try and get a snack before we headed to dinner. All we ordered this time was a charcuterie plate and a bottle of wine. After 30 minutes they called to inform my parents that they were out of the wine we ordered, but suggested another label that would be just as good. This gesture was appreciated, but why did it take 30 minutes to figure that out… then another 30 minutes later they finally arrived with our order… and it was disgusting. The meat looked as if it had been sitting out the full hour, and as we grabbed the pieces of bread, we flipped them over to notice that they were BURNT, and I mean solid black and rock hard burnt. Very underwhelming and inedible. Oh yea, and the wine? It wasn’t even the label they told us they were going to bring, it was a completely different one that was nowhere near as good.
To the manager’s, Andrew’s, credit, he handled it well when we explained our issues — he was appalled at his staff’s service and refunded us for both room service orders. His kindness and professionalism, along with the beautifulness of the Inn are what salvaged this review. Decent place to stay, but definitely go elsewhere (like Flavor Bistro) for any and all dining experiences.

This was a very nice hotel for the price. Rooms come with a mini-​fridge, which is always helpful — especially in wine country. The concierge was very nice and knowledgeable. The rooms are quite pretty, but when we checked in they had not moved the room service tray from outside our door. We didn’t try room service or the restaurant. The location is pretty good for wine country.

I just barely checked in, but I’m giving 5 stars for the hour I have been here so far! Lol! The lobby is gorgeous, I really love how they changed the set up since the last time I stayed here. It’s much more cozy, but still has the beautiful stone waterfall in the reception area. I was greeted with smiles and the man who checked me in was friendly, helpful, informative and even checked me in early! Yesss! I was prepared to wait til 3, but yayyy! The room is gorgeous and easily accessible. Clean, large and BEAUTIFUL! I am very pleased. :)) I stayed at the Hilton recently and there really is no comparison right now in regards to the rooms. They must have done some upgrades since the last time I stayed here… or did I just not notice? Immaculate! I haven’t checked, but I remember a salt water pool last time I was here and that’s so rare! And it feels so good. I’m going to go check it out… I’ll write more later. :)) So far 5 plus stars! Even the artwork in here is gorgeous! The bed super comfy, a refrigerator, a GIANT bathroom with everything you could possibly need. It’s so immaculately clean too! Wow! I am impressed! I have stayed in a lot of, what I consider nice hotels and was not expecting this! Wow! Yayyy! :)))) My view isn’t the best, but it’s not the worst either. :)
Update review: I came back for another staycation and it wasn’t exactly what I anticipated, but that’s what happens when you have high expectations. Hope for the best, but expect the worst. ;) Then there aren’t any disappointments :)) Lol. But in reality, everything was taken care of by both Andrew and Lisa, these people CARE about your experience. That really matters. Thank you fountaingrove inn, for being amazing and for hiring both Lisa and Andrew! They are irreplaceable!!!
If you are from out of town, I cant stress how this is indeed the best hotel in Santa Rosa. If you have any issues or conerns, please take the time to talk to Andrew ot any of the staff, everyone working in the inn that I encountered are wonderful and a joy. They will make sure you are pleased, because they care. They go above and beyond! Where is my 10 star button Unilocal?;)

Not only is this place top notch classy and sophisticated, it comes with guest services that are out of this world! The night security and front desk guest services coordinator Andrea really keep their guest’s best interests in mind, even the first time you stay here! I was so impressed at the level of care they exhibited and the courteous, accommodating atmosphere is one that I will be sure to go back for again and again!
I must say the bartender in the restaurant/​bar section makes you feel so welcome, even if you are enjoying a drink alone, and the restaurant staff really takes care of their guests. They have the absolute BEST HAPPY HOUR I have ever seen! So creative and for a price you cannot beat!
I was especially impressed with the extra security in the parking lot; I felt very secure about parking my vehicle on the far end of the lot for this reason. And the location is exquisite, nestled on the California hillside.
The room décor was elegant; it was luxury all the way around! I even received a Jr suite for a fraction of the cost by booking online a few weeks early! I highly recommend this hotel if you are ever in the wine country, it is the only place to stay.

Great base camp for a weekend in wine country. The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean and sufficient. Given the high price of hotels in wine country, Fountaingrove Inn is a relatively fine deal for price. If you are looking for a luxurious resort experience, this is not the place. If you just need a place to sleep between wineries, then Fountaingrove Inn will work just fine for you. Don’t spend money on the buffet… it was very underwhelming.

4.5 stars! Had a great stay this weekend (Saturday after Christmas) — We didn’t know what to expect, but we were incredibly impressed by our experience overall. Check in and check out each took less than a minute, and we were given great recommendations for local breweries and wineries by the hostess. She was incredibly friendly, and seemed honestly interested in helping us have a great weekend in Sonoma — and we did! :-D
The King rooms are spacious and have a large TV and mini-​fridge. The beds and bedding were comfy, and the in-​room Keurigs were a great touch. The lobby also has coffee/​tea and fresh fruit, as well as free super-​helpful guides of the surrounding wine regions, coastal trails, shopping, etc. (not those shitty ones that are just full of ads… actually useful info, like where to find complimentary wine tastings). ;-) We loved the «Welcome Reception» at the Equus wine bar w/​crostini and a couple wine tastings — the Equus Zinfandel is a must-​try.
My only beef is that the shower head was a little janky (low pressure), but this didn’t ruin our experience in any way. If you’re looking for a relaxing, pleasant weekend in Sonoma, check this place out!

Hotel room or European apartment? FGI didn’t feel like a hotel at all, more like a cozy apartment.

The queen room was very spacious with its own sitting area– more like a suite. Tastefully decorated– again more like a home than a hotel room. Noise level from freeway– not noticeable– trees outside the window are a great buffer.
A small heated pool and jacuzzi are available at the south end of the building to take break by from the wine tasting
Equus bar and restaurant is on the property if you’re too tire to leave. It also offers room serve and had a great happy hour menu

The entire site screams 70’s — if someone told me this used to be one of the nicer Red Lions back in the day, I would believe it. In the common areas there’s a lot of modular stuff, sky lights, giant 70’s lighting and large plant containers. It looks pretty good!
The rooms are more updated, large & comfortable. The standard rooms are large enough to easily accommodate an extra bed. With a Priceline deal, we had 2 rooms here for about $ 100 per night, per room. I thought that was very reasonable for the area & quality.
Equus Lounge was a pleasant, cave-​y place for a drink & interesting people watching.

Located in the northern reaches of Santa Rosa, and a participant in Stash Rewards program. The rooms were comfortable and clean and have been recently renovated.
The fitness room is small but serviceable — one treadmill, one elliptical, two bikes and a universal, and a TV in the corner.
There is a full-​service restaurant, Equus, across the driveway.
Staff was very friendly and prices were very competitive. While this is a bit north of the main wine stops in Napa and Sonoma, it hits all the must-​haves and fits the budget well.
They are pet-​friendly but have pet-​free rooms too.
Only real issue is that the back door is open 24hours with no security.
