Highly recommend. Ok, so while it feels a little weird to write a recommendation for a funeral home, I feel like I have to because of the truly EXCELLENT care they took of our family during such a difficult time.
Even though our service was going to be in Westlake village and they are located about ½ hour away in Santa Paula, I chose them based upon a referral. (And also after calling some other local corporate funeral homes that gave me the all business feeling when that is not what I was looking for… I wanted someone who really cared.). I’m really glad I chose this funeral home. (And in the end the distance never mattered because they always drove out to us anyway.)
Both Robert Rey Garcia Jr. And his father (Sr.) met with our family and clearly and compassionately explained all of our options.
I should back up a bit… after my first phone call, he even gave me his cell phone number to call ²⁴⁄₇. My grandmother was in hospice at the time of my first call and we didn’t know if it would be days weeks or months until we would need his services. It ended up being only a few days but he took time to answer each and every question we had. Also, in planning the funeral he not only gave me his cell phone, but actually either always answered it immediately or called me back or texted me within 5 minutes.
When she passed and we called they were there within the hour to bring her to the funeral home. (Btw…we didn’t feel rushed in anyway… they asked if we wanted more time… we just didn’t feel we needed any at the time so it was a blessing they came quickly.)
Also, our situation was a little more complicated in that we only needed a simple service in the area and then my grandma needed to be sent to her final burying out of state.
Mr. Garcia handled absolutely every detail both with the local service, the shipping, the other funeral home etc. He took care of everything so we didn’t need to do anything. They coordinated with the church as well and also made sure everything went ok with the reception. They also did a nice job with the embalming… I think grandma would have been pleased. (Garcia Sr. himself does the embalming and had been doing it for decades)
There was nothing they could do for us that was too small or too big. All we needed to do was ask (although they anticipated most of our needs before we even knew we would need them.)
Their prices were also very reasonable and ended up being exactly what we were quoted in the beginning. Absolutely no surprises which is what you want. Most importantly they are a family business of integrity. They took great care of our loved ones and also our entire family when quite frankly we needed to be taken care of. We will always appreciate the way they treated our grandmother and our family.

I am writing to dispute Terry Z’s rating and review. He is a disgruntled salesman/​owner of a casket outlet who failed to deliver the casket that my family ordered for my father by the agreed upon time. We lost all trust and faith in the company that he represents and decided to cancel the order and instead buy a casket from Robert Rey Garcia Jr. Funeral Services at a reasonable and acceptable price. Robert Rey Garcia Jr. Funeral Services did not pressure us into buying a casket from them nor did they discourage us from buying a casket from the casket outlet that Terry Z represents. Our family made the decision entirely on our own in order to have the peace of mind that everything would be in order for our Father’s services. We selected Robert Rey Garcia Jr. Funeral Services to handle our Father’s funeral because this business is highly regarded in the community and came highly recommended. Robert Rey Garcia Jr and the employees at the funeral home were very professional and guided our family through everything. We did not need to do anything because they handled absolutely everything for us. We are so grateful to Robert and the staff for all of their help and support during a very difficult time.
