Glen Tavern Inn

Well… we didn’t get haunted, which was obviously disappointing. This place is exquisite, tucked into Santa Paula. The photos are exactly what it looks like. My mother and I spent quite a while trying to figure out the layout, as some rooms had a tiny bathroom (like ours) and others had a bathroom that rivaled a Greek bath.
The bed was comfortable, we had great Direct Tv while we got ready for the wedding, the prices were phenomenal. I loved the feeling of the old wood, and the dark colors.
The only downside was service in the bar/​restaurant, and they put a $ 125 tab on my mothers card from another table and when asked to reverse it said «it would take a few days» which was very frustrating. However, aside from this event and the alarms that went off during the night that couldn’t be turned off– it was great.

This is a wonderful place; comfortable room and bed, quiet, good reading lights, beautiful common area/​lobby, incredible history, good restaurant, fast room WiFi, great location for walking/​exploring town. BUT if you prefer sterile, bright, boring ticky-​tack motels with everything looking just the same — don’t stay here. If you have an issue with your room (I didn’t, but just sayin’) — just ask the friendly owners — don’t complain and diss them later.

My fiancé and I had an amazing time here! We ended up staying the night inside the haunted room 307. We where hoping to run into the ghost at the inn that night. Sadly we didn’t, but the inn itself was amazing. From the friendly staff to the delicious food in the restaurant we had a wonderful stay. I’d recommend this inn if your looking for a place to stay and I’d even recommend the room 307 if your looking for a little bit of spooky fun! I’d gladly come here again. Maybe next time we will see a ghost.

Wow~what an amazing experience! Stayed here last weekend and so enjoyed the little mini vacation. What a cute hotel~so quaint and cozy! The mascot, Otis, stole my heart!!! I even had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful owners of this adorable hotel. Did not see or hear of any ghosts this trip!! BUT I will definitely be back for a longer vacation next time and for more time to explore the cute lil town of Santa Paula! Thanks for an amazing time!

To clarify: I was a guest here! Warning, Lack of professionalism at this Venue! I honestly don’t even know where to begin. When you think of your wedding day your idea is to have as close to a perfect day as possible! There’s lots of planning, details and financial sacrifice that goes into this one day! My soon to be sister in law was planning her wedding day and with four kids and two jobs this was something they were dreaming and saving for! Personally I have worked in the restaurant, catering and event planning business for 13 years. I was surprised to hear the lack of professionalism by this venue. With no contracts or updates and the «misunderstandings» I wasn’t surprised things went wrong! You hope for the best and I know things happen but when you don’t take responsibility for your actions, your just wrong! They admitted there food for the event was bad and had previous complaints but we’re not willing to compensate. Other than being offered a one night stay at the owners beach home or another meal on them, um no thanks! The food was hard, Dry and expired! They ran out of food and only made more because I personally went and asked for more to feed the last two tables. Was the wedding beautiful yes and thats the brides decorations that made that day. Definitely not the food or owner! As a owner you need to more involved instead of your hotel being a visiting place for your friends and dogs. Take responsibility and don’t try to make up for negligence with a stay at your home. You can’t replace that wedding night and experience! Don’t back peddle or try and place blame after admitting your wrong. Your the owner, take responsibility! If you can’t cook for events then let your guests bring in an outside company! Very disappointed with your actions! Don’t eat here, maybe just a quick visit!

I really wanted to give this hotel five stars because the common areas are so awesome, but our room was not good. From all the photos on Unilocal,their Facebook page and website, it *appeared* that all the rooms would have cute or interesting decorations/​appointments. Not so with our room. We asked for a king bed with Jacuzzi tub and we were assigned #108. Please note that I also asked for one of their coolest looking rooms. I pray this wasn’t it.
First off, the room was tiled. I’ve never stayed in a room with tile floors, outside of Mexico. It was… odd, but whatever. It wasn’t overly big, but I didn’t feel cramped. The furniture itself wasn’t horrible but sort of ‘thrift shoppy’. Definitely old, and not in an antique way. The ‘armoir’ was just an old entertainment center with no TV in it. Weird, but it fit the style of the place, I guess. The walls were painted boring white with a couple non-​descript prints on the wall — no fun wallpaper or cool movie posters for us. Cords dangled from the wall-​mounted TV, which was above a little desk. (see my pix) One plus: HBO channels are standard.
The most frustrating part of the experience was when we tried to watch TV in bed. The tile floor made the bed push away from the wall when we sat with our backs against the headboard, so we kept having to get up and shove it back. Turns out, the headboard was mounted to the wall, not the bed. ?! Finally we gave up and moved to the two chairs to watch TV, which were comfortable enough but we paid for a late check out so we could lounge around and watch TV in bed all day.
The best part of the room was the bathroom, which was fairly new and VERY well appointed. BIG shower with dual heads, two sinks and a Jacuzzi bathtub. Everything was tile, which made for slippery floors, so I would recommend that anyone prone to falling should get more towels from the front desk and lay them on the floor to prevent injury.
I found the amenities amusing. For example, they kindly put out two bottles of water for free, but there was no hairdryer (I had to go get one from the front desk) or iron (I assume one might be available but didn’t ask for one). The bed was hard and the pillows old and terrible, so I got a horrible night’s sleep, but the staff were very friendly. Breakfast consisted of a platter of ‘conchas’ (Mexican sweet bread), yogurt, OJ and milk. :-/​
The highlight of the trip was sitting next to the fire in the lobby, enjoying the Christmas tree, vintage Christmas music and the general ambiance.
To be clear, we were not expecting luxury. I’m *very* cool with funky and weird but this room just looked shabby (minus the bathroom). If we’d had a better room, this would have been a five-​star review. In fact, I would give our room three stars or less, but the hotel is so cool, I can’t bring myself to give an overall three-​star. If you go, do yourself a favor and make sure you’re not in #108!

This place is hit or miss. It’s a cool looking, I like the location, but I’ve stayed twice and there have been issues both times. Quaint can only take you so far.
The first time we stayed the only issue was the air conditioning. The room had been closed up and it was very hot. We turned the AC on and tried to let it cool down for an hour. It never did so we went to the front desk. They looked into it and corrected the problem but the central unit took an additional hour to recycle and cool. Problem eventually solved but we couldn’t stay in the room for the first 2 hours. Other than that the room was small but comfortable.
This last visit, things changed at the last minute and I ended up having to bring my 2 dogs with me. I called the hotel asking if this was a problem and was told it was not but there would be a $ 10 pet fee. I don’t have a problem with a pet fee except when I pay a fee only to be given a substandard room. Specifically room 205. When I walked in I found a tiled floor, made sense for a pet room. What I didn’t like was the loud ventilation exhaust for the restaurant below our room. Also when I returned from dinner in town the room smelled like grease from the exhaust. The television did not work well with a constant digital pixilation and pausing. Also, the shower had very poor pressure.
It’s cool looking in a nice quiet town within walking distance of a great Irish pub but I’m not sure if I want to try it a third time.

I recently got married at the Glen Tavern Inn on Halloween and not only was the venue/​hotel/​ceremony amazing, but the staff was amazing as well! They were able to answer any and all questions that we had leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding, Iliana was on site and point with anything that my bride and I needed. I also has several family and friends book rooms at the hotel (awesome rates, btw!) We definitely made the right choice by going with Glen Tavern! Not to mention the hotel’s historical past and ghostly legends, it was only right to have our Halloween wedding here! We’d like to especially thank Iliana, Pearl, Dustin and Rosanna (the owner).

Love it here! Rooms were cute & bed was comfy… Staff were very welcoming & friendly.. Owners were great too… We will be back! Also did some investigating in our room… 306. Got some very cool paranormal activity.
As for Enzos Restaurant. .
Had dinner w reservation & Groupon. .
Had the beef shank & steak… wouth watering. chef is amazing!

Just arrived at the Glenn Tavern Inn! We were checked in by Kenny who was so kind as to upgrade our room free of charge. GREAT service and a wonderful atmosphere. Kenny was wonderful. We are thrilled to be here.

Checked in today for my birthday weekend! Hoping to see some spooky stuff! Love the hotel so far, really beautiful and great service! Kenny took really good care of us.

I had a wedding in September this year. Everything turned out beautiful and the staff was very helpful. However my food was horrible. we did the tasting in July everything was pretty good so I expected it to be the same on the day of the wedding. Not the quality we got. Food was very dried out, moldy rolls. Also ran out of food before last 2 tables were served and we were under 20 people than we originally planned and payed for. What a waist! So yes very unique setting and the majority of it was great! Asked for partial refund was denied. Hope everyone who plans an event here has a better experience with the food.

**DISAPPOINTED WEDDING GUEST: I would have loved to give 5 stars to such a memorable evening as a relative and guest for a wedding at Glenn Tavern. As a guest for the wedding I was excited to arrive at Glenn Tavern and experience what this venue had to offer. Wow disappointment is an understatement. The food at a wedding is always what guests remember at a wedding. After being served through the buffet I took my seat. I looked down at my plate and was so disappointed on how the food lacked flavor, color, and the roll they served me on my plate was molded. I was embarrassed to bring this to anyone’s attention as fear not to bring anything negative to light on such a special day. But then I worried other guests may get ill if they are eating molded bread. This is NOT the venue for anyone to rent when the molded bread was brought to the attention to management by another guest and she responded with no apology. I am even more disappointed to hear recently that GLENN TAVERN actually ran out of food before all the guests were served. Leaving 20 guests (2 tables) with nothing to eat. You would think management would compensate the bride and groom somehow with a refund. Unfortunately no action is being offered by management. Don’t put your special day in the hands of Glenn Tavern. It is a beautiful venue but FAIL in management, service, and fresh food.

Our school held its annual fundraiser at the Glen Tavern. We had a fun evening, and everything came together really beautifully! The food was great; the venue was beautiful; the service was excellent! I highly recommend this venue for events.

Got married here on Saturday! The staff was great, suite was on point and my guests loved it! We had 80 person headcount and did the ceremony in the lobby followed by dinner and reception on the grass. The site worked very well with our outside vendors and we were very happy with how the night turned out. The beauty of this landmark is great for wedding photos, as well as an old school railroad station directly across the street. Thank you for making our day great!

This place is an absolutely enchanting château! If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle this is the place! I stayed here over a Labor Day weekend And it was just what the dr. ordered. Amazing staff and owners very hospitable and make you feel right at home. Thank you Rosanna and Tom, I love you guys!

Spent the night here for my husband’s birthday for a little «stay-​cation» the room was a good size and it was clean. I’ve heard that this hotel is haunted and no. We didn’t experience anything ;) I’d have to say my favorite part of this hotel was the bathroom! Large shower and a jetted tub! The only reason I knocked off 1 star is because of the WiFi. Regardless of where you are at in the hotel, the WiFi has a terrible signal. Other than that we loved it!

Booked this hotel last minute on a Friday night after all other hotels between Santa Cruz and Ventura were booked solid. I read a little about the ghost legends and rich history, and decided that it was too interesting to pass up. I’m not by any means a superstitious person, and I don’t believe in ghosts, but the Glen Tavern Inn was SPOOKY. The lobby is dim and very tastefully decorated with era-​appropriate furniture and framed photographs. The halls of the hotel are equally dim and lined with framed movie posters from the 20^th century: Gone With the Wind, Tarantula, Dracula, etc. This is by no means a traditional hotel. The halls are eerily quiet (even though the hotel was almost full when I was there) and the lighting makes every noise scarier.
We had dinner at Enzo’s Italian Restaurant, which is located on the first floor of the inn. The food was delicious and our waiter was very attentive and helpful (their lobster ravioli is delicious).
Everything went well until around 11:30 PM when we decided to go to sleep. Earlier in the evening, we’d noticed a sporadic noise coming from the right side of our bed. It almost sounded like fingernails tapping on the wood. As soon as I laid down to sleep, it was all I could focus on. It wasn’t the bed creaking or a neighbor being noisy. The room seemingly generates its own scary noises. I was up until 4 AM, constantly scanning the room for ghosts. In the morning there was hot coffee, yogurt, fruit, and pastries in the lobby (probably to help guests recover after their eventful, ghost-​ridden nights). The bed was comfortable, the room clean, and the complimentary shampoo was awesome.
All in all, the Glen Tavern Inn is a wonderful, affordable place to stay if you want to be beyond scared straight. The hotel isn’t advertised as a traditional hotel: it’s an experience in and of itself. Be ready for a possible sleepless night, and maybe a ghost encounter.

Stayed here for a quick getaway weekend and loved it! The history of the hotel and the potential for ghost encounters made it an interesting and sleepless night :) the room that we stayed in also had a heart shaped jacuzzi which was a romantic touch. They have more updated rooms but the charm with the jacuzzi was hard to pass up. We also tried the hotel restaurant Enzo’s and had a great experience as well. Our server was able to give us some additional history on the hotel. FYI if you haven’t seen their ghost adventures episode I recommend watching it after you check out if you plan on sleeping lol!

The Glen Tavern Inn, just about an hour north of Los Angeles, was featured on the show Ghost Adventures because it is supposedly haunted. And that is what attracted us, out of sheer curiosity. Also, there was a Groupon– two nights and a bottle of wine for $ 149!
The building definitely shows its age. We had a pet friendly room which had tile floors, a little awkward, but I got used to it. The room is just kinda weirdly oriented and not very hotel-​like. I enjoy oddball things though, so it didn’t bother me. If you’re looking for a pristine hotel experience, look elsewhere.
The third floor is apparently the haunted floor, as a prostitute hanged herself in Room 307. This part of the hotel is not in use, which adds to the creepy vibe. On several occasions we went up there and tried to see if anything happened to us in the pitch black. We were able to capture orbs of light in photos, which I thought was pretty damn cool! I actually saw this orb as it was appearing on my phone screen, scared the bajeebies out of me. If you watch Ghost Adventures, you know what I’m talking about.
Staff was pleasant. The attached restaurant was a treat. The neighborhood is cute and quaint. Definitely a bed and breakfast type experience. No Yolo nights here folks, most of the town closes up at 11pm.
All in all, liked the quaint character and would definitely come back.
