Dr. Tom Rauth completed a root canal for me. He was very professional, informative, and caring throughout the whole process. My situation ended up being a little more serious with the tooth infection going into my nasal cavity, but he took the extra time to help explain things to me and even spoke with my Ear Nose and Throat doctor at Kaiser to try and solve the issue. They even provide CDs with the scan on it to take to my Kaiser Doctor. 6 months after the root canal, they offer a free follow up X-​ray to ensure everything is still looking good. The entire office is clean and staff are professional. I am very confident and happy with the service I receive here.

I was referred to Dr. Rauth by my dentist for a root canal. He’s very warm and conscientious, a real straightforward guy — imagine the actor Dick Van Patten… Doesn’t look like Van Patten exactly, but there’s a similar quality. He did a terrific job for me. The folks in the office are great. I highly recommend him.

My dentist referred me to Dr. Rauth for a consultation. I loved the soothing atmosphere of the office. Dr. Rauth was knowledgeable and had a calming effect. I can only speak highly of Dr. Rauth. I needed an emergency root canal the day before I left for Europe for a month. His office was able to work me in and operate in a timely fashion. Dr. Rauth was calm, patient and explained the procedure throughly. I highly appreciated this as I hate needles, blood, anything that deals with my teeth.

I am indebted to Dr. Rauth for his care, honesty and candor. I had been suffering from intense, persistent pain for months which he could have easily attempted to cure with the standard response — a root canal. Instead, he examined me in detail on two separate occasions and ultimately refused to perform any procedures because he insisted that I needed to see a neurologist (I did and my pain issue has been resolved).
There are few in the dental profession who would take the time and go to the effort to diagnose my problem as Dr. Rauth did. The pain I was experiencing was brutal and virtually impossible to diagnose (others tried) but he figured it out.
I would recommend Dr. Rauth without hesitation to anyone needing dental care. He is a true professional who sincerely cares about his patients and gives them his undivided attention and expertise. He’s a rarity and I’m incredibly glad that I found him.

You never hear people rave about a root canal, but I would definitely rave about the care and treatment I got from Dr. Rauth during my recent root canal. Everything went smoothly and quickly, and the worst part was just waiting for the novocaine to wear off. Also very kind and approachable if you have any questions or concerns during the procedure.
Their office does not take my insurance, but for me, comfort was worth paying possibly a little more out of network, and it was definitely worth it. I would highly recommend Dr. Rauth!

wow and wow! I have never been a fan of getting work done on my teeth, probably like most people, but Doctor Rauth and his staff made me feel comfortable and at ease. At their office they suggest you get there 15min. before your appointment which usually means you will be sitting there for those 15min. plus more, but NOT at Doctor Rauth’s office. I got there two separate times 15min. early and was taken immediately into room. When I was in room one of his polite, and friendly staff was there to greet me and ask me if I had any questions and to explain what Doctor Rauth would be doing. Having never had a root canal, just saying that sounds scary, I did have questions not only did I get answers from the knowledgable staff, Doctor Rauth also explained everything step by step how and what he was going to do.
When the procedure began I was completely numb and felt absolutely nothing, which is EXACTLY how a root canal should be. I wasn’t nervous or anxious before, during, or after. When finished your not rushed out of the room like some places, Doctor Rauth talks to you and explains again what he did and proceeds to tell you if you have any issues or problems before next appointment call him and they will get you right in. When making my next appointment they ask you what works for you and thats it your in.
I can’t reiterate enough how AMAZING and PROFESSIONAL Doctor Rauth and his staff were. PRISTINE, COMFORTING, SMOOTH, WISE, and just a great over all experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anyone needing a root canal. :))

I had the most pleasant experience with Dr. Rauth recently — he absolutely rocks! He’s super-​professional yet still sensitive to my needs as a really scared patient. Thank you so much Dr. Rauth for easing my nerves while fixing me up! :)

I came in because my upper left molar broke and it was obvious something needed to be done about it. This is a tooth that I had had problems with in the past, to the point that my previous dentist in Canada had recommended that I get a root canal, which was done about three years ago. But he had told me that I would eventually need to get a crown and now that time had come.
So I went to Dr. Chen in Santa Monica, thinking it would be a straightforward procedure. But Dr. Chen though he saw a slight shadow at one of the root tips and felt I should be seen by an endodontist, so he sent me to a Dr. Rauth.
Dr. Rauth decided that my first root canal might not have been done completely and left some root material that might be abcessing, and said I needed to have the root canal re-​done for a cost of $ 1700. This did not go so well. When he started to drill out the existing root canal through the filling, he discovered that there was a large titanium post inside the tooth (to aid with strengthening the remaining tooth material). He had NOT seen this on the x-​ray, he said something about it not being metal, that they had not seen a titanium post like that before and the x-​rays didn’t show it. ?? Isn’t titanium metal?
Then he took over an hour vibrating it loose with an ultrasonic extractor. He worked so long on it that the heat from the tool he was using burned my gum from the inside out, something I didn’t find out until the freezing wore off later that evening. I was in a great deal of pain for the next two weeks as it slowly burned its way from the inner surface of the gum to the outer, then blistered, broke, slowly healed (I started gargling with hydrogen peroxide because it wasn’t healing, after that it did start to heal and fill in) and left a hole in my gum at the place where it touches that tooth.
Because it had taken Dr. Rauth so long to vibrate the post out, he did not complete the root canal in that visit, and I couldn’t come back until it had started to heal, which was two weeks later. When he finally did get down to the bottom of the roots he discovered that he had been wrong and there was no necrotizing root tissue present, the original root canal had been done perfectly well, and, in short, that there had been no need to do what he did. That didn’t stop him charging me the $ 1700, however.
I also found the staff to be brusque to the point of rudeness, felt like I was an interloper in their little world that they couldn’t wait to get rid of. All in all one of, if not the most, unpleasant experience of my entire 60 years of dental experiences!

As great an experience as I imagine a root canal could be. Dr. Rauth was on point with the work and also had a good «chair-​side» manner. Not a discount place — but if the work you need done demands this level of care, you can trust Thomas Rauth.
