Phenix Salon Suites

I go to Dulce Dominguez who works at Phenix Salon Suites. I’ve been seeing her for a number of years. I am incredibly picky about my hair color. It is really hard to find someone who understands how to do shades of red. She is really amazing with it. She can do it so it looks very natural or where it looks more painterly (blocks of color) which I prefer. It is not easy to find someone who will do hair color in a way that doesn’t «blend in» even when you tell them that is what you want. Dulce is also fantastic at hair cuts. I showed her a photo of a woman’s haircut that I shot on a train in Japan. And I came out with a cut that wasn’t exactly the same, but which looked really good on me and which took the shape of the photo. Dulce is also a really lovely person and can hold a conversation or not depending on your preference (or if you are like me, if you are falling asleep while someone plays with your hair). She works in the same suite with Salem, and comes in a few times a week.

Salem has been doing my hair for many years now, I found her at Kyle Mathis salon & stayed with her when it changed hands & became J. Nichols, and am still loyal to her now that she is at PHENIX.
I’m so ashamed that I haven’t written a review until now. She is amazing. I am constantly stopped and complimented on my hair, through all of the many colors and cuts she has patently, safely, and expertly taken me through these years. I came to her with long very bright red hair that I had been destroying at home for years. She nursed it back to health while keeping the bright color until I decided it was time to bleach it & strip it to remove the red. Reluctant at first to change the healthy glowing red hair she had spent at least a year making healthy, she was able to safely, expertly, patiently take me to the exact caramel color I envisioned without losing length. Those who know hair know that this is an amazing feat, especially considering the many years of unsupervised damage I had done to my hair under the red before I found her. Now my hair is in a short bouncy blonde Marilyn style and I am enjoying this phase very much, while continuing to enjoy being constantly complimented on my hair style and multi dimensional blonde color.
Go to Salem. Trust Salem. She will make sure your hair is beautiful and healthy, even if you are the challenging type that has to change your hair drastically to keep yourself from getting bored or stuck In a look. :)

Juliana of J&J Salon is the best. She’s amazing with any color or cut and is the kindest person on top of that. I won’t go to anyone else.

I will forever put my hair in Jennifer’s hands! She is amazing and has gotten me through some hairy situations (pun intended). She’s corrected mistakes from other stylists and I always get exactly what I want with her. I have referred Jennifer to many of my friends and they all rave about her as well. She truly cares about her customers and goes further to circle back to ensure that they are happy.
Jenn has become a permanent fixture in my life, as she installed and keeps up my extensions. She also has cut and styled my hair on many occasions and does the occasional dye job. I’ve seen her work as far as highlights and lowlights; she is definitely multi-​talented!

Jennifer has been my hairstylist for years and I love her. I usually get partial highlights and a cut, and I always leave happy. I followed her to three different salons in the Santa Monica area and recommend her to everyone.
I recently hired her to do hair for my bridesmaids and me at my wedding, and everyone loved their hair (some got up-​dos and some opted for curls with a few pieces pinned up). She didn’t flinch when I told her it would be a 7:30AM start time. She arrived on time, stayed on schedule, and accommodated everyone’s special requests.

Been going to Juliana for cut and color for over 3 years. Have recommended her to friends and family and to the random people who ask where I get my hair done, a testament to her.
Her new salon suite makes the experience even more personable and easier to talk without the noise of other stylist’s blowdryers. Metered street parking or else the library lot is nearby.

I’ve been following Juliana all around Santa Monica and she recently moved to this location, it is perfect as I’m really close. I have not seen this concept yet but it is interesting, it’s like private suites for all the stylists each with their own personality. I like it. Juliana is at suite 115 you should stop by.
