Out Of The Box Events

I’m a little new to posting on Unilocal, but I feel like I get so many great recs from the community that I should start giving back.
Out of the Box Events is awesome. I did their annual October Haunted Hollywood Hunt with friends and we had a blast. I learned a lot about the history of the area on Hollywood Blvd and found myself experiencing new things in places I’ve been to a million times and discovering new parts of the neighborhood all in the Halloween spirit.
I think if you are planning a trip to LA in the fall, this is definitely an engaging group activity to do on your trip that is a little more «out of the box» than sitting in a star tour van and it will help you check out Hollywood. I highly recommend it.
I know Out of the Box also does a Valentine’s Day hunt in Venice. I’d like to try that one as I’ve had friends take part and have a lot of fun… and I think I learned that they can also do bar crawl hunts too. I love that they can also do custom hunts for parties and company events.

I have done multiple hunts with Out of the Box Events over the years and have never been disappointed. The venues, attractions, and history of the area are covered in a clever and imaginative way. I would highly recommend their events as a great way to learn more about an area while having great fun!

Bored of the typical, drunken Halloween weekends, I began a search of an out of the ordinary event to attend. I stumbled upon the OOTBE Halloween Hunt on a Unilocal board. The details were vague, but intriguing:
$ 25 per person
Hunt was 1.5-hours
The hunt will take you through haunted spots in Hollywood.
Bring a flashlight
Whhhhaaatttt? A flashlight? What kind of hunt was this?! I was so intrigued, I immediately called my best group of friends and spread the word — we had something super cool to do for Halloween!
The night of the event was great! I don’t want to reveal all of the details (that’s that fun in it!), but the event was challenging and fun. We learned alot of about Hollywood and had a great time doing it. I would definitely recommend this to someone who literally enjoys thinking outside of the box.
One of their next events is based around Hollywood scandals. Is it bad we’re already getting together our team?
Tip: Arrive on time. The event begins promptly.

What a great way to discover LA! Our group of friends did the Pasadena Hunt and Hollywood «Haunt»… Oh what fun! Next up: the Downtown Architecture Hunt!

friends and i have been on a few of out of the box events’ public scavenger hunts. i know they do them for private events (and i think some businesses around town) but i’ve only done the public hunts. we found the first one in a local newspaper, which gave it a rave review, and we thought «why not?» it’ll either be a total dud, or really fun… it was the latter for sure!
we went on a halloween hunt, one about beverly hills, and a biking one in venice beach, which was a total dorky blast! kristin, the owner, and her team put together +/​-​2 hour «tours» of the places, complete with trivia and clues and all sorts of stuff to find. we took our cameras as proof of «finding» the things we needed, as they were not «take-​able» — more like statues, or artwork, or random things on the sidewalk.
each team ended up at a restaurant and someone tallied up our scores… while we had a stiff one. sometimes we won (decent gift certificates, not schmucky stuff) sometimes we lost — uh, by a LOT. :) but we always had a good time.

Very cool event! I participated in the Valentines Day hunt in Venice Beach. We had to answer 20 questions in 2 hours. It was basically an Amazing Race on bikes around Venice Beach (boardwalk, off the beach, etc). It was very fun, some good exercise, and very interesting! Whoever came up with the clues was VERY creative, so much so that I wish I had the ability to start up something similar in my hometown. My wife and I definitely recommend this!

As Maid of Honor in my best friends wedding I was looking for something new and different for a bachelorette party. I came across Out of the Box Events at a bridal expo and thought it was a unique idea and perfect for a large group of ladies. Out of the Box was very flexible with locations and times and helpful in suggesting ideas to make a great scavenger hunt. They even took the time to get my guests party favors that reflected the bride and groom’s relationship. Keisha, our hunt host, was awesome and made sure everyone had a great time. My best friend loved her hunt and said it was the highlight of her party! Thanks Out of the Box Events…

Everyone in my office wanted to do something «new & fun» for the office Christmas party… but no one offered up any ideas. So my co-​planner & I ran to the internet & found Out of the Box Events… they’re located in LA, but do hunts in San Francisco as well. We weren’t sure how this would go over with everyone, but thought we’d give it a go!
Kristin at OOTBE was super-​fantastic! She did research on our company & worked that info into the scavenger hunt as well as cool history about SF. She was also cool with me e-​mailing her non-​stop with random questions.
So the day of the scavenger hunt arrives & Kristin’s on-​time & completely patient with the chaos going on in our office. Each team got a polaroid camera & a list of clues… and we’re off!
We ran around the city taking silly pictures & deciphering clues. Trying to throw our competitors off the trail when we could. You get points for creativity as well as finding the clues… so that made for some fun photo ops!
We ended at a hotel bar and had a drink while Kristin tallied the scores! My team won (and not because we were the ones who hired Kristin, but because we’re awesome)!
Ok — so the point of this long review is this: Hire Out of the Box Events. They’re top-​notch!!! I promise you’ll have a great time!
