History

Established in 2002.

Gourmandise Baking Classes grew out of Pastry Chef Clemence Gossett’s love of all things sweet. Our hands-​on baking classes are small, delicious and feature the finest ingredients you can get.

Clémence Gossett & Hadley Hughes

Clémence, a great lover of sweets, was born in Paris. A frequent patron of pastry shops, she quickly developed a palate for all things flaky, buttery, sweet and chocolatey.

Hadley was born and raised in the great state of Georgia and spent most of her early years cooking and baking with her mom and her nanny, Lena. As she grew up, she inherited the all the pastry duties in her house and was soon earned the nickname «Cookie» from her school mates.

After college Clemence moved to L.A., met the most delicious friends who encouraged her to start a dessert company. Gourmandise was born out of a kitchen in Venice, and The Gourmandise School grew out of a passion for teaching the company’s favorite recipes. 6 years and many satellite kitchen classrooms later, Clémence met Hadley in one of her classes. In 2011, the two opened The Gourmandise School in Santa Monica, CA.
