Horton & Converse Pharmacy

Fantastic.
They are super nice, and they are super helpful. It is nothing like being in a big line and a cold bright light generic filled impersonal CVS or Walgreens.
Earlier this month I was very ill and was waiting at a pharmacy and had to sit on the floor while standing in line at the counter. This is the kind of place where if you look sick or you feel dizzy, they come running out.
Someone walked in with her very elderly sick mother and asked if there was a place for the mother to sit, and they have a chair and they worry about you and take care of you. They have cool old products, they have gifts, they have a nice smart pharmacist. It’s like being back in the Midwest but in California.
Also there’s a parking garage so whoever was whining about parking was kind of crazy in his review.
Plus there is also some street parking for meters.
I had a prescription here that needed to be filled sooner than it should have been for an antibiotic ointment because I have a staph infection that keeps spreading. The pharmacist got it filled early and still billed to my insurance so it cost me under $ 5 and they got very quickly because I was very ill on my way from the emergency room.
Love this Pharmacy more than any I have ever been.
There are also low price medical supplies you can buy for personal home use which is nice.

I have been through a lot in my life; dealt with great places and not so great places… But, THIS PLACE IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!!! I had 3 surgeries after a major car accident, so along with my «regular everyday» medicine, (so I probably wasn’t a joy to be around) yet, nevertheless, I was treated with RESPECT, COMPASSION and TRULY CARING PEOPLE who worked there. «Annie» is absolutely hands down, one of a kind. The KINDEST pharmacist in the country! No kidding! I am just SO GLAD and feel SO BLESSED that I no longer have to deal with St. John’s Pharmacy (one block up) because not only did they NEVER have my medicines in stock, they were the RUDEST PEOPLE IVE EVER DEALT WITH. Would you like it employees would stare at you and point and ‘snicker’ (in Persian, no less) when you would give THEM your hard earned money!!! Not me! The BEST thing that happened to me was finding H & C Pharmacy on 20^th Street and Santa Monica Blvd. the store is WONDERFUL and beautiful with cute little surprises at every aisle turn. I will never go ANYWHERE ELSE! Great job, Annie and staff at Horton & Converse Pharmacy in Santa Monica! If I could give you 100 stars I would!!! Love to you all!

The pharmacists Annie and Zahel are the most creative and helpful obtaining the Finest generic medicines in town as well as brand .
They will order you’re Meds ahead so they have them in stock for you.
I have a pharmacy or two on my corner but always go the extra mile for Horton

I absolutely love this pharmacy. Such a hometown feel of your local pharmacy from back in the day with cool inventory for your medical supplies and wound care needs plus so much more. There’s definitely a different and better vibe here compared to most other pharmacies in L.A.
I’ve spent quite some time here browsing and shopping after having open-​heart at St. Johns Medical and having blood drawn weekly in the building over. The staff is pretty awesome here and they carry a ton of things you didn’t even know you needed. Better than your average gift shop…
Whoever the buyers are for H&C Pharmacy know what they’re doing.

Both the woman who left the msg and the man who answered the phone MUMBLED. I had to look up H&C to see WHICH pharmacy I was calling. They weren’t supposed to get my prescription. Mess up w/​computer.
Rite Aid told ME to call pharmacy to have prescription changed (when I went there cos I thought script there). I returned H&C call. Man told me RiteAid had to call.
HELLO, MY prescription, I HAVE the choice where to get it filled I told them. He repeated what he said. I said, again, that is NOT what Rite Aid told me. He repeated it, I told him where to go and hung up.
Called doctor and had script transferred.
Nasty, rude, inflexible and can’t talk clearly. I KNOW Rite Aid is not much better. But it’s closer. And at least I know what I’m getting into. Urgh.

Pharmacy and the staff are the best in the area. I’ve moved mine from the large chain store to them

Time to kill while my friend endured an outpatient medical procedure, I treated myself to a Horton & Converse look-​see.
Prescription pharmacy since 1917, I was no stranger to the brand as many of my clients rely and swear by this institution’s caring, knowledgeable pharmacists, as well as, being a source for home medical equipment and supplies. Seriously, that inventory is astounding — walkers, hospital beds, respiratory aids, canes, crutches, lift chars, recliners, wound care — but most importantly it allows people to remain at home while healing, undergoing care.
Didn’t partake in any of the 50% off Halloween gift and decoration items but I did indulge in a really cool 6′+ scarf to tie a few wardrobe items together.

Fastest pharmacy ever for filling prescriptions! I am forced to take opiates for a spinal injury, and CVS was impossible to use for those. They just didnt carry them. These people were fast and always have my meds in stock. Fun store as well, with lots of great medical/​health supplies. Love it, and ill always have it listed as my favorite pharmacy.

Rude on the phone. 15min before closing and he told me don’t come in even though I just parked across the street. Only needed a pair of off the shelf shoe inserts

This place is terrible! I go to another pharmacy around the corner and swore I’d never visit another, but my doctor’s office called in my prescription here and I didn’t want to trouble them to transfer it. So I walk down, probably about 40 minutes after it’s called in. Talk to a puzzled gentleman named Sohail. He has no idea who I am, or which medication I am picking up. After our staring contest, a woman named Ann walks out and says it will be ready in a few minutes and asks me to browse in the mean time. So I browse the candy aisle looking for a snack. I look at the ingredients on a chocolate bar, and notice that it is expired! I am disgusted, put it down and choose another candy. ALSO EXPIRED. Just when I think this place can’t get any nastier, a COCKROACH (I’m not joking) crawls out from behind the candy display! Feeling nauseous, I practically sprint for the pharmacy counter, where my prescription is finally ready (after 45 minutes) I am overcharged for my medication, but don’t even care to argue, as I just want to get out of there! The following month, I transfer my prescription to my normal pharmacy, where it is about 20% less expensive. I will never step foot in Horton and Converse again! I am scarred from my first experience!

Wow! What a great place. The pharmacist that helped me (I think her name was Anne or Annie) was SO friendly and knowledgeable. Extremely patient in answering all the «nervous Mom» questions I had about the change in medication my daughter was switching to. Very sweet lady. This is my new go-​to-​place to get my medications. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenagger «I’ll Be Back»

Crazy fast and amazing service.
Much better than waiting at CVS to try to get a prescription filled by someone who isn’t willing to call my doctor or my insurance company if an issue comes up.

Stopped by this pharmacy as they carry compression nylons and socks. Picked up a pair for my grandma who is a diabetic and needs the nylons to help the swelling come down in her legs. Walked in and gave them the RX and the pharmacist directed me to the back of the shop where the medical supplies and prosthetics desk is. I walked over, gave them the RX and the person helping was very friendly and quick to help. She disappeared into the back room for a minute or two and then came back out with the last pair of nylons in my grandmas size. Awesome that we scored the last pair. She let us know that if we needed another pair we can always call ahead and order it. They also can ship the medications or purchases to you if you don’t want to battle the 405 freeway and West LA traffic. Very pleasant experience here.
Oh and parking can be a pain in the butt. I would recommend trying to find street parking. There is usually plenty on Santa Monica one block west of the pharmacy. That is if you don’t mind a short walk.

I only have one thing to say, don’t bother standing around and waiting for your prescription because by the time you receive it, the coins on the metered parking spot you circled around to find will have expired and you’d have an expensive ticket on your shield faster then you can blink.
Just come back later on to pick it up, don’t expect a phone call from them though to remind you or tell you that your meds are ready.
I usually only come here because my doctor is upstairs and I wasn’t smart enough the first time to set up my insurance at CVS.

This is a really comprehensive pharmacy with everything you might need, including neck braces and temprapedic pillows. If you have sports injuries or have been in an accident, this is a great one stop shop, including products for travel. I was really glad I found this gem of a medical supplies shop.

Parking can be a bit of a pain here, but my doctor is in this same building, so It’s something that I’d need to do anyway.
They’ll fill your prescriptions here in 10 mins or less, never really had to wait longer. PLUS, they seem to have a good number in stock. They also always have a lot of people working behind the counter.
Parking will be expensive if you park at the plaza, so try the meters on 21^st or Broadway.
