Raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Daniel Behroozan is the Founder and Director of the Dermatology Institute of Southern California, dedicated to comprehensive, state-​of-​the-​art medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. As a highly gifted student, Dr. Behroozan graduated from high school at the age of sixteen at which time he started his undergraduate training at UCLA. During his undergraduate education, he was a twelve time recipient of the Dean’s Honor Roll Award, received the National Honor Roll Award, Golden Key National Honor Award, and the Phi Sigma National Biology Honor Award. Dr. Behroozan graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a B.S. in Neuroscience and was awarded college honors at graduation for exemplary academic accomplishments. Moreover, he received the coveted Chancellor’s Service Award for his commitment to community service as an undergraduate. Dr. Behroozan’s medical education was also completed at UCLA.

The best doctor ever! I love Dr. B!!! He is amazing at his work, I trust him, he tells me like it is and straight up honest. If there is something I don’t need he will say, no not necessary. He truly cares about his patients and it’s not just about he money. I’ve been a patient for 9 years.
recently I have had treatments and have been using skin brightening cream and retinA (Dr B has his own line that’s awesome). So many people have commented on how great I look. Girls in their 20s!
The staff is amazing too. I give Dr B and the entire facility a 10 out of 10!!!

Doctor B is the best! I love him. He is the most knowledgeable dermatologist in Western LOS ANGELES!
But
His receptionists are the worst!
They make me uncomfortable and they can be snarky. I love Dr. B so much I wish he’d get rid of those two.

I went here for a mole removal. They did a biopsy but did not remove the mole. They charged me $ 160 for my insurance. Two weeks later I still have the mole. It has not changed at all. I called back to say that the mole was still there and now they want $ 300 to completely remove it.
I’ve had moles removed before and they removed them, then as part of the procedure they did the biopsy. This is a bait and switch at the lowest level. I would not recommend these people at all. They are manipulating the insurance system to get the most money possible and leaving the patient dissatisfied. When I called, they offered no apologies or a way to remedy the problem that didn’t put more money in their pockets. Whatever happened to taking care of people?
I only gave one star because the staff was nice.
I would not spend one dime more with them.
They are unethical. I was ripped off!!!

Either the office is closed when it should be open, the doctors are on vacation (at the same time), or they don’t have any appointments for more than a month in advance when you have an urgent situation.
They can never find me in the system when I call and they can’t find my chart when I come in. I’m done!

As a mother who popped out two kids in two years, it goes without saying that the lack of sleep has left me looking a bit «tired.» Through the referral of a friend, I went to see Dr. Behroozan to see if I was a good candidate for Botox treatments around my eye area.
Dr. Behroozan was so inviting (and funny) and he listened to me and what I needed. He also helped me out with the dark spots that appeared on some parts of my face as a result of the pregnancies. A few injections and some special bleaching cream later… I’m only 5 days out and my husband who never notices anything commented on how great my skin looks and I wasn’t even wearing any makeup! (true story). Thank you Dr. Behroozan. Can’t wait to see you and your wonderful staff soon!

I had an issue dealing with reception and Daniel B. Called me personally to find out what happened and offer to resolve it swiftly for me.
The care and effort he put into making sure I was taken care of is definitely refreshing and I would recommend him as a doctor despite the front office issue I encountered.

I’ve gotten to that age where I can see little things about my face that I would like some subtle help with. Dr. Behroozan is just the guy for that! I didn’t want to go to anyone who would make me look fake or overdone with Botox or fillers. A lot of the people I see nowadays have very obvious work done.
Dr. B is an artist. He wasn’t «heavy handed» and knew just what to do. I can’t recommend anyone better. I look and feel amazing! Thank you to his awesome staff who makes me feel like family!

Dr. Behroozan and his staff are amazing! I have seen maybe 8 different dermatologists and spent thousands upon thousands of dollars in antibiotics, topical creams, you name it! I had moderate chronic acne that I started getting when I was 19 and spent over 7 years trying to get a hold on it. My back was the worst part. I couldn’t even wear tank tops.
He was recommended to me by another doctor and from the first second he saw me he said, «Why haven’t you been put on Accutane???»
BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. Sure you have chapped as hell lips and dry skin but after only 3 months, my skin was incredible! (Accutane has significant risks, but follow the rules and it’s not that big of a deal)
Dr. Behroozan is right to the point and I love that about him. He could have put me on a bunch of creams and had me come back every month to see my progression costing me tons, but he didn’t waste my time or my money and that is so very important!!!
His staff is incredible, especially Karina who went above and beyond to help me get the best price for my prescription when my insurance was being lame.
What more could you ask for!!!
PS if you’re on Accutane and you’re looking for a moisturizer that will help with that awful flaking skin, buy Dr. Behroozan’s Repair cream. It is worth the price and saved me from looking like a reptile! I sound like a commercial, but it’s seriously the real deal!
PPS I have visited both his BH office and Santa Monica and they are both awesome. Same staff and very clean and modern facilities!

Dr. Behroozan and his staff are TOP NOTCH. I did lots of damage with carbs during the holidays so I knew I needed to see him for cool sculpting. Can’t be anymore happier about my results! It was super easy to book an appointment, I was seen on time and Dr. B’s bedside manner & humor is awesome! I’ve recommended his services to all my girls who want to lose a little jiggle here and there. Thanks Dr. B!

Parking in the back is free although it says there is a charge.
Building doesn’t look so great on the outside but it’s actually very clean inside.
Had about a 20 minute wait as a first time patient, not too bad.
Had a couple ongoing skin issues and asked the doctor for prescriptions which he filled right away. Although when I went to the pharmacy to pick up one of them it was not filled correctly. He had given me a coupon for 8ml but written the prescription for a 4ml bottle causing a bit more of a hassle on that end.
Also when I asked if I could get a medical facial covered by my insurance he said that insurance usually doesn’t cover it until I have met my deductible. Called my insurance and was told otherwise.

Between Dr B and his esthetician Shenea my skin has been consistently clear for the first time in five years. Bye-​bye disgusting hormonal acne. After my first visit and actually crying in the office because my skin was so bad I left with some confidence that Dr. B could make some improvement but I had a little hope that it would be long-​term. He was personable and made me feel comfortable from the start. He listens to your concerns and will come up with the treatment that you feel comfortable with. He’s funny, has a great energy, and I actually look forward to my quarterly visits. He recommended I see Shenea for facials and I’ve been seeing for every 6 weeks for the past year and I think I will continue no matter what. As an LA transplant I’m so happy and forever grateful to have found dr b and his team! This review was long overdue and I just want to note that I’ve never seen anything in the office or been offered anything verbally for writing a positive Unilocal review. The person who reviewed that they are manipulating the Unilocal page is incorrect as far as I can tell.

This review is for the facial I received and not for the dermatologist. (Full disclosure, I was offered a free facial to try out the office.)
Parking: Not sure where you are supposed to park, but I made a space on the side of the office in the driveway.
Wait time: I waited for about 15 or so minutes before I was seen, but the receptionist and esthetician were nice and apologetic about it.
Facial: I haven’t had a medical facial in a long time and I forgot how nice they can be! Shanea was very friendly and I enjoyed the whole experience. She ended with a microdermabrasion and a mask so my skin was very soft after. She even hooked me up with some product samples.
Price: Without insurance, it’s $ 150. Since I am a teacher with HMO insurance, I won’t be able to come back, but maybe one day!!!

The near perfect Unilocal reputation would lead you to believe one of two things. Either this is the best doctor in town or he’s good at the Unilocal game… perhaps something in between but its typically one or the other. As a transplant to LA I’ve used Unilocal to find a handful of other doctors and its truly hit or miss.
In all fairness, I did not see Dr. Behroozan — I saw one of his partners in the clinic and I would say my experience was poor at best. The doctor was half an hour late and spent all of 5 minutes with me. Didn’t do any sort of analysis, just asked me a few questions and prescribed medication. Medication that happens to have mixed results and quite a few negative side effects.

Dr B is outstanding — it doesn’t get any better in my opinion. I have lived in 6 cities and seen many dermatologists over the years. This guy is smart, personable and efficient. And the staff follows his lead — customer service here is excellent.

I had been seeing my last Dermatologist for a year. My appointments lasted between 2 and 3 minutes, just enough time for him to write another prescription for the same medicine. I finally had enough. I needed a Dr. who was actually interested in helping me with my acne and not just scribbling down a prescription and rushing off to the next patient. I found just that in Dr. Behroozan!
Dr. Behroozan is by far one of the best doctors I have ever been to and his team is no different. Everyone makes you feel like a priority. It’s a breath of fresh air! Dr. B is thorough, thoughtful, and genuinely cares. He wants to see my skin improve and has made it his mission to make sure that happens.
Love Dr. Behroozan and his staff! What a great group of people!

I don’t write reviews often, and unfortunately this one is written with mixed emotions.
I saw Dr. Behroozan’s four times over the course of apprxomiately five weeks. He’s a great guy, and as said in other reviews really does know what he is doing. As grateful as I am for his expertise, it’s the experience with his fees and specifically Monica, his biller that left the absolute worst taste in my mouth.
I was charged $ 200 for each visit, including the ones that were only five minutes in duration. I called to dispute the charge and when I spoke to Monica, she claimed that only the first bill was $ 200 and $ 115 thereafter, even though it clearly states on the bill $ 200 for each visit. She gave me some story about it having to state $ 200 for insurance purposes but that in actuality it’s only $ 115 or so.
After some back and forth explaining to her I didn’t think it was fair to have to pay such an amount (as my deductible had not been met), I realized with her I would go nowhere and asked to speak to the physician himself, which Monica informed me he does not take calls regarding bills. It is very disappointing that after nearly $ 1000 in fees the doctor couldn’t take five minutes and have a conversation with me on the phone.
Its rare to love a doctor so much and be appreciative for what he did for you, yet at the same time be so frustrated by the poor service delivered of his staff and their inflexibility, as well as his unwillingness to talk to his patients outside of a visit. As much as I loved Dr. B I am not certain I would go back, which is very unfortunate.
