Creating Arts Company

Soon after I wrote my first review, I learned that Creating Arts has an outreach program. My daughter attends a local elementary school and they came out for free! For our upper grades they performed Beauty and the Beast, and lower grades they performed Pinocchio. A great opportunity for students who’ve never been to the theater. And hopefully, great exposure for the dedicated workers this company has to offer. Thank you!

Great Cast and Show! We enjoyed it as much as the kids!
What a great surprise to find Creating Arts Company in Santa Monica. This is a theater performing plays aimed at young children. We attended their performance of The Wizard of Oz with our two nephews, ages 5 and 8. We enjoyed it just as much as the kids!
The actors are dedicated, talented and eager to present a good experience for both the kids and adults. We were surprised at how they managed to produce an engaging version of the Wizard of Oz on a smaller stage with all of the songs and storyline. After the play, the kids asked when we could come back to see another show, and that’s probably the best testament.
The play lasted a little over an hour, which is about the right time for a young audience. The actors come out in costume after the show to take photos, which is a nice experience for the kids.
The theater is located along Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade. I’d recommend allowing extra time to find parking because many of the public lots were full when we arrived on Saturday afternoon, not to mention the traffic. We arrived in Santa Monica 45 minutes before the show time, and even that was cutting it close to find parking and walk to the theater. Parking in the Santa Monica lot was only a few dollars.
We’ll definitely be back.

We attend each show Creating Arts puts on. My daughter loves every performance and takes pictures with the cast members after the show. I HIGHLY recommend The Creating Arts Company to everyone.
We arrive on time and always get amazing seats. The cast sings, dances and interacts with the kids. We love it!!!

I have seen two shows here. There are minor issues, but overall a wonderful time.
I bring my «Little Sister» from the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. She is nine years old.
We have seen «The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe», and today we saw «Beauty and the Beast.»
My only issues: today, for some reason, they couldn’t find my reservation. It wasn’t a huge deal. I showed them my email confirmation and all was fine. However, for a second you just feel worried, ya know? So, totally minor. And it hasn’t happened before.
Also, today people kept arriving SUPER LATE. People were coming in even toward the end of the show. It really breaks the atmosphere.
I hope the selfish reviewer here on Unilocal did not affect that. Please, do not PLAN to be late. If a show starts at 3pm, please get there in time for it to start.
Yes, it’s a Children’s Theater, but be respectful to the actors and the other patrons who have paid good money to watch.
I know there are emergencies, but I think 15 minutes after start time is MORE THAN PLENTY.
If you have any etiquette at all, this is fair and obvious.
So, I was a little upset that people kept coming in for so long.
And it’s a shame your Unilocal star rating is low because someone PLANNED to be «no more than 20 minutes late» so she hurried to get there 15 minutes late? What?! And then she felt entitled enough to write a review about it?!? What is this world coming to? I’m sure her friend in the cast feels very supported *sarcasm*.
Moving on, I studied musical theater in NYC, so I can be picky about performances. It’s not Broadway — Although the Beast’s voice was far superior to the rest ! Sounded Broadway ready. I was surprised.
The other actors are good. It doesn’t make me cringe — which a lot of Los Angeles theater has. (Sorry, but true)
There is a good level of talent. The actors give their all. Nothing amazing. But nothing horrible, either. It’s fun.
It’s interactive! Kids can sing, dance, play!
At the end, there is a meet and greet and picture op on the promenade!
It’s really a great experience for my girl who has had such a rough start in life. She gets teary-​eyed sometimes.
So, thank you! We’ve both had great times and will have wonderful memories!

Went to see a show here. On their website it says «No one will be admitted 20minutes after the show opens.» — I knew that so I rushed there with flowers in my hand and got there at 7:17. The doors/​gates were all closed and I couldn’t even leave the flowers for my friend in the cast. It was VERY UPSETTING. I would understand it if it’s past the 20min line, but to close the doors before the cutoff time on a audience member who paid for it? I didn’t care much for the performance but I wanted to be there for support. Getting treated like this is not what I’d expected.
I cannot recommend them to anyone for this reason.
