Jambo Imports is an endeavor by Chef Ahmed Obo, owner and Chef at Jambo Café. Jambo Imports was a way for Chef Obo to offer handcrafted goods from Africa to New Mexico and the United States.

Business Owner

Ahmed Obo hails from Lamu Island, part of a string of Islands off of the east coast Kenya in Africa. Chef Obo learned to cook traditional swahali cuisine at his mother’s knee and dreamed of opening a restaurant with his own version. In 2009 that became a reality with Jambo Café. The Café has become wildly successful with an avid following among Santa Fe locals and tourists. In 2013, Chef Obo opened Jambo Imports to continue to share the «special» that is Africa through art, spices, jewelry, textiles, and more.
