History

Established in 1999.

Tangoleva was born in April of 1999, after Anne returned from her second trip to Buenos Aires. She had experienced the true «socialness» of Argentine tango as a social dance and discovered the need for clothing that one could wear out on the street as well as dancing tango. Before going to a milonga, she would invariably go out to dinner, the theater or a concert with her husband and his family and feel foolish wearing a skirt with a slit up to her hip. After this first trip, she started making adjustments to her wardrobe and began designing outfits that would accommodate both outings and milongas. Inspired by the wide variety of fashion that the Argentine women wore in the milongas, everything from jeans to glitzy dresses, she launched the first Tangoleva collection at the Santa Fe Tango Retreat in June of 1999. The fashion show, the sales, the feedback was a resounding success. It was a hit. «So this is what I do now», she says happily.
