Was excited to visit after reading the reviews. The service was good but I cannot say the same for the chocolate. I have had many milk chocolate peanut butter truffles but the peanut butter was not smooth and tasty. The chocolate does not have a high quality taste. The toffee was soft.

I was very impressed with this local establishment. I had two coffees and six or seven truffles for under 20 bucks. The staff is friendly, the coffee is good and they have an eclectic selection of chocolates you won’t find just everywhere. The service is equally eclectic, but very friendly and pleasant to talk to. A great place to stop on the square in Santa Fe!

I was really looking forward to coming here, but was extremely disappointed with the customer service. The lady who helped us seemed like the owner, she was an older lady with gray hair and blue eyes. I don’t if she was having a bad day or what, but she was incredibly impatient, unfriendly, and rude. This is ridiculous considering we spent nearly $ 40 on a few truffles. She didn’t want to answer any of our questions, she rolled her eyes and tisked at us during our entire experience at this shop. She made shopping for chocolate such an unpleasant experience, we couldn’t wait to leave… which says a lot because we LOVE chocolate. At these very expensive prices for chocolate, you think she could muster up a smile.

We have dropped by every day for relief from unpacking after a move. The first day i had a venti mocha that was nothing like the sugary thin mochas at starbucks. It was a dark chocolate and coffe taste that stayed in my mouth like a good dream after i was finished. The espressos are strong and good, and i had a breva today that was just the right combination of rich espresso and half and half. Tried a meyer lemon truffle (the truffle costs less if you get it with your coffee), and the rich chocolate of the coating stood out against the lemon. There is pleasant outdoor seating with umbrellas and a wall shieling you from st. Francis dr. Indoor seating is large comfy chairs. There is a hook to which you can tie your well-​bwhaved dog.

Wonderful warm friendly place with a great selection of truffles and brittles, of which we bought more than a few. We dropped in noon-​ish to buy some sweets for a late afternoon snack after a light lunch we had planned.
While there the owner took out some fresh chocolate chip cookies. Also sitting out, begging to be eaten, were some humongous cinnamon rolls. Well, two cups of coffee, one cinnamon roll and a chocolate chip cookie later, we said goodbye to any idea of a light lunch. Do we regret doing that? You betcha. Would we do it again, uh huh, in a heartbeat :~)

We had some of the Mexican sipping chocolate and loved it. The place was cute and let us bring our dog into the sitting area, which we (and he) greatly appreciate. The truffles were a bit pricey ($ 3.50/each), but they were amazing!!! We got strawberry champagne and passion fruit. The center is fluffy and decadent without overpowering flavor. We can’t wait to go tomorrow to get more!

C. G. Higgins has something for every palate. They offer a wonderful mix of textures and flavors and you can tell each truffle is created with great care. The gentlemen that work here are so nice and helpful, plus they make a great cup of coffee.

We discovered the Santa Fe Chocolate Trail on our last visit to the Northern New Mexico area. Over the course of a day and half we visited all four of the featured chocolatiers, and fell in love. With the chocolate, of course.
Of the four, I have to admit my favorite was C.G. Higgins. I found the variety of confections to be excellent, with some adventurous chile flavors mixed into the more traditional favorites. The truffles, of which we sampled several, were uniformly excellent, as we’re the various brittles. A warning about the fudge: it is VERY rich and VERY good! Absolutely terrific selections, including their assortment of caramel corns.
Not only were the chocolates and other treats world class, but the people and warmth of the operation really got to all of of us. Highly, highly, recommended. (Tell them the Thumbnail Traveler sent you. Won’t get you anywhere, but this way Chuck can blame someone else.)

The sipping chocolate was good, but at the end of the day not something that blew us away. The jalepeno/​lime truffle was a treat and unique, but pretty expensive (~$ 4).
Sat on the patio in the shade, which was convenient for a hot/​sunny day. Some interesting art, but baseline for as artsy an area as SF. They offered free samples of various treats, which was $ 5 or $ 6 of value based on their prices (expensive).
Very friendly staff — their kitchen door was open when we walked in, and they described their process of rolling fudge as we watched through the door.

Fantastic penuchi (walnut) fudge… Great truffles. Nice people. Who could ask for more. And I’ve a chocoholic from Santa Barbara, CA. Been to many a shop all over the world.

I am a chocolate snob, and only tried the truffles, and usually don’t care for fudge, as it is so sweet it gives me a headache. I wouldn’t bother, unless you like your chocolate as sickeningly sweet as Fanny May, and don’t mind paying a lot more.

This place is like a secret… I have lived in this town for 7 years and this is just a few blocks from where I lived and finally tried it out. It’s a sweet, fancy-​ish coffee, chocolate and other candy-​sweet bites. The service was friendly and the coffee was fine (not fabulous). It’s a tiny place, to hang out but it’s got nice marble tables and a sweet red leather love seat. They also have a hook to hang dog leashes on, so you can bring your pooch with you.

Great chocolate, truffles, and fudge. I personally not too into brittle products so I can’t say anything about that. I did find the person working there to be a little off… She repeatedly ignored my clearly stated questions and kind of looked at me like I was kind of taking up too much of her time or something.
I hope my nearly $ 50 fudge order got her in a better mood. I might have to go back to going to the Chocolatesmith place around the corner because they’re a little bit more friendly…

I tried their 400^th Anniversary Truffle, which was really good and had some great chocolate flavor.
I bought a Cashew Cluster and Pecan Brittle and those were very good. This spot is a definitely place to visit if you’re in Santa Fe.

There are four prominent chocolate shops in Santa Fe! I’m a bad chocoholic for having not realized sooner. They’re marketed as the Santa Fe Chocolate Trail.
I managed to convince my partner in gallery hopping to stop at two of them. C.G. Higgins was the second and final shop for this trip. The others will have to wait til my next Santa Fe trip.
As with ChocolateSmith, I started with plain old dark chocolate. Not quite able to compare apples to apples, though. C.G. Higgins makes truffles. I didn’t see any truffles at ChocolateSmith.
This place knows chocolate. The truffle exceeded expectations. So, I decided to try one of their unusual truffles: anise and peppercorn. It was surprisingly good. The flavors are harmonious, which is something I honestly didn’t expect.
I ended my chocolate excursion with a tall glass of Mexican Hot Chocolate. Seriously good.
Can’t wait to get back to Santa Fe to try Kakawa and Todos Santos. I’ll have to stop at C. G Higgins first, though.
