Preferred Glass was about 25% lower than a local competitor, showed up on schedule and delivered my replacement shower glass door 2 days early. Courtney and Mike were more than helpful and courteous. I would recommend this company in a heartbeat.

Rude, rude, rude!
I called to get an estimate for a glass desk top to cover a wood top desk. The girl gave me the price, I asked what it would cost if someone would come out and measure to make sure it would fit. She told me that it would cost me more than what the desk is worth! She said sorry and hung up the phone. I will never give people like that my business. Don’t assume people can afford your prices and hang up on them. Goes back to that old saying what happens when you assume, you make an ass out of U and not me!

Called Preferred Glass about a Shower Door Enclosure I need for my house, Mike answered the phone and was very courteous. He listened to my comments and concerns and knew exactly what he was talking about. We scheduled and appointment for an estimate, Will update review in couple days. Thanks

We just bought a house that had a standing shower with the retro white fiberglass tile-​look shower enclosed by the framework of really thin glass and thick silver metal. We tore out the old surround and wanted to redo the whole shower with tile and thick glass doors but didn’t have the wish, the money or the time to deal with another major renovation while we were trying to move in. We were going to just hang a curtain but didn’t want to give up on the idea of having the thick glass doors for this shower.
I had first talked with Mike at Preferred Glass and Windows about windows because the house had some windows that were sticking — some wouldn’t close all the way and some wouldn’t open. Mike was super nice on the phone, upfront about the pricing for a service call and parts, and really understanding when I called back to ask him to cancel the service call because Tim thought the windows were probably just stuck from not being opened by the previous owners. Tim was right — the windows were actually ok and we didn’t need this company for windows (yet).. . but when we do run into trouble with them or they need replacing, we will call this place for sure.
Mike and I had also talked about glass shower doors and the fact that a fiberglass shower enclosure won’t support the weight of a totally frameless glass surround structure. He told me they had a semiframeless option they use for fiberglass enclosures, though, and Tim and I went to the showroom to try to see it and talk to someone. Courtney was working that afternoon and took a good amount of time with us explaining options and how the semiframeless glass structure would look. We wanted it to look nothing like the thin glass and thick silver metal structures from the late 90’s that we were replacing and she assured us it wouldn’t. We were still trying to decide whether to hang a curtain and hold out for tile or go ahead and make this existing shower as good as could be, and after talking with Courtney we thought this might really give the look and feel we wanted without the major expense and time.
Mike scheduled Scott to come out to measure and give a quote. Scott was easy to talk to, thorough and took all the time in the world to explain again how things would look. The thickness and color of the glass, how thin the rails would be compared to the enclosure from before, how the sections meet at the corner at a 45 degree angle so there’s no metal on the part that faces into the room, how the glass would also go all the way to the top of the fiberglass instead of stopping short of the top like the one from before — everything was covered. He showed pictures, drew diagrams, gave different color options for door handles and trim support rails. Everything was written down, the price was quoted on the spot and we ordered it the same day.
Jorge and Tele came out a few days later to double check the measurements, then those same guys returned to install the glass. They worked cleanly and fast and the installation went smoothly, start to finish in less than three hours. It was exactly a week from the time Scott came out until the glass was installed — amazing turnaround time and the glass and shower look incredible.
If you have a shower with the retro fiberglass surround and builder’s grade doors (and if your fiberglass is still clean and white and shiny like ours fortunately was), this is a solid option for a really nice upgrade without the time and expense of redoing the whole thing with tile. It doesn’t seem like an old shower in the least anymore, especially with this clear thick new glass and new fixtures behind the glass. The glass looks to be tinted really slightly green which looks great with the white walls and bronze fixtures.
Everyone who worked with us on this knew what they were doing for sure. Great communication and treated us so nicely every time we interacted with them. They support you after the install is finished as well — calling to be sure everything was good and also really nice about some random (rookie) questions on the phone afterward.
About the special treatment that can be added from the factory to protect the glass — it’s a minimal extra charge to have it added in, and you have a choice of whether to get it or not — but don’t even consider NOT getting it. I’m not sure whether it’s inside the glass or on the glass, but it’s totally worth it. You still have to squeegee the glass but the whole glass enclosure looks brand new every day — fingerprints wipe off — no water spots — it’s awesome.
Be aware that the shower has to stay dry and you cannot open the door or touch the glass for 48 hours after the installation — they put a sign on to remind you.

A little hesitant at first, after reading the reviews, my husband and I decided to go and check out the place. We received excellent customer service during our visit. After shopping around, Preferred Glass offered us a very competitive price so we decided to go with them.
We needed a small front entrance window to replace the one we had that gave us no privacy at all.
They came to measure the day and time they promised. We got the window installed a little after 2 weeks of the order. Final product is great! We love the new window. It gives the privacy we were looking for.
The follow up through the process was great and even after the installation of the product, we got a call to ask us if we were happy with the window.
We’ll go with Preferred Glass next time we need it!

Unlike many clients you may encounter we tend to take the time to attempt to communicate to the companies we have decided not to continue to work with.
We expressed our need to have this in play and worked on by June 1^st. It seems like this was ignored.
The pricing for 2 windows reinstalled is extremely overpriced.
We asked for the revisions to be made to the estimate to reflect our concerns, this was ignored.
We asked for a phone call to discuss our concerns — this was ignored.
We took a chance despite your less than satisfactory reviews on «yelp», and we would have to agree with the criticisms on customer service.
It is really sad that in the 21^st Century– «the age of state of the art «communication” — your company misses the mark!
We urge you to remove your brochure stamp identifying you as A.A.M.A Certified Installation Masters, since your company expresses that you are unaware of what this refers to and are unable to provide proof of certification. It is misleading.

Had a front window broken and with rain coming I was concerned, called Preferred Glass and they came out the same day and did a great job for a great price. So happy with their work!

A few weeks ago Preferred Glass replaced a broken second story window in my condo. Not only did the men arrive right on time, the installation was great and they were extremely neat. I was concerned about the possibility of broken glass in my home and I shouldn’t have been. They made sure everything was perfect.

Had new shower glass installed. We just wanted to make our master bath shower look better. It looks even better than we expected.
Best price out of several bids. Everyone we dealt with was professional, timely and very nice. They told us it would take about 2 weeks for install because of special order. Then they turned it around and installed it in about 4 days.

I have always had terrific luck with preferred glass. They can often do the work while you wait. Turnaround time is also very quick. I recommend them highly I have been using them for years.

Before I went in I called to see if they do replacement mirror for a hanging antique mirror I have. The gal that answered the phone said depending on how difficult it would be to take the mirror out of the frame would determine the price. I pulled out 5 nails and brought jus the round mirror to them which is approximately 2 feet across. I was given a price of $ 95.00. I took the same mirror to a glass shop in North Hollywood and was charged $ 55.00. I was already in NoHo area so it wasn’t like a paid the difference in the gas to get there. Two stars for a pretty show room but, when it comes time to redo my master bath & showers I won’t be coming here for a quote. Also, want to point out the guy behind the desk is kinds rude and disinterested to help me when I walked in tot he point the gal had to jump in and take over. Note to him: Be nice and respectiful to everyone because you might miss out on bigger future business.

I’m really surprised to see the negative ratings. The owner was kind and courteous the prices were competitive and the warranty was better than the other places we called. The installers were so sweet and friendly ! They cleaned up at the end of each work shift and made sure everything was sealed tight till the following morning. They even came back a few days later to repair some stucco they noticed loose by the slider (for free!) impressive job and I really can not say enough about the men who physically installed the windows. I would recommend them to anyone
P.s there was a little bit of a long wait (5 wks) but they kept in great communication the whole time and called me as soon as the windows were in. We were replacing all our windows on a new home we purchased so it was not an issue for us to wait the 5 wks and I still feel it was 100% worth the wait.

We came in for a piece of glass for a table and Courtney helped us decide which would be best. After reading the reviews on here I don’t understand why there are negative things about her. She is great at her job and honest about what will look best. After we received the table top we decided to look into getting our windows done. We checked other places and got estimates, but none beat preferred. Now that all of our windows have been replaced and upgraded for months we could not be happier with them. The staff was incredible and was very meticulous about their work. Our windows look gorgeous and we owe it all to Courtney’s expertise!

Came for a custom piece of glass to replace broken pane from kitchen cabinet. They seem to have an endless selection of glass — from custom cut pieces to shower door enclosures to windows. Great customer service and a convenient location. Thanks Courtney!

We had Preferred Glass make a custom glass topper for large partner desk. We gave them the specs over the phone (they had the best price) and we had to come in to pay and confirm the dimensions (a little inconvenient but I understand why they do it). The glass piece was ready in two business days and was spot on the dimensions, and it looks great! There’s quite a few negative reviews on Unilocal for windows, so I can’t address that. But for stand-​alone pieces of glass they did a great job.

I just used Preferred Glass and Windows to retrofit 8 windows in my house. I had great service from the company, the sales guy was nice, the guy who came out to measure up was great and the guys who came and installed were great.
The only issue I have is that sending one guy out to ‘get started’ and then have a second guy turn up only in the late afternoon meant that basically one worker did everything and it took two days (Friday and Monday). Honestly if two guys had been there all day, I’m sure the job would have been completed in one day.
There was an issue with one of the windows that was set crooked but after pointing it out, it was removed and put in correctly without question.
Reading some of these other reviews I can see that a lot of people seem to think customer service is bad but honestly, although a couple of emails were a little abrupt, (a one or two word answer to an email could be construed as a little unprofessional) I found everyone I dealt with polite, timely and accurate. What more can you ask for really? OK, a whole sentence would be nice, but maybe that’s just me?
Bottom line, my house looks great with it’s new windows, I have a smaller job that I need doing and will definitely be calling Preferred.

Preferred Glass and Windows is great if you don’t mind repeatedly going back and forth between their store and your project site for them to correct errors on your order. Don’t expect an order to be completed within one or two visits with these two-​bit clowns. I really wished I could have given them 5 stars bc they’re a local SCV business and they’ve been here since 1969. Unfortunately, my first experience was my last.
Would I come back? Nope.

We have used Preferred glass throughout our ongoing remodeling project of the past 7 years. Without exception their products and customer service has exceeded any expectation. One time the glue did not set right on a whole wall mirror and they came out and made it right. No questions, no additional costs. Most recently a half wall mirror in a bathroom started to de-​silver on the bottom edge. They are going to replace it at no cost.
In these challenging economic times it is so refreshing to get more than you expect.

On July 3^rd my wife went in to order a replacement and install of a payne that was cracked on a down stairs window. On the phone I was quoted 250 including the install. When she arrived she was greeted by a VERY non professional woman dark hair in her 30’s. She was told that the cost was 499, but it would be 399. Stating that was the price and whoever told her that was wrong. She turned and walked away handing a stack of files to another co-​worker said goodbye and walked out.
If I could give a –10 rating, I would. I didn’t notice, but the economy is messed up and customer service is crucial for success or failure. This action will hopefully result in another retail space becoming available. I would recommend selecting another vendor for your hard earned cash.

Wow. My review on 3÷27÷2013 is accurate and honest. The company’s comment to my review completely supports my opinion that you should not hire Preferred. Instead of apologizing to me for my bad experience, Preferred Glass & Windows decides to take the low road and call me a liar… I am simply floored. Their action should serve as an even bigger warning to all!
PS — If I am not in Milgard’s system, why did a Milgard rep by the name of «Fonz» came to my house recently to repair another window under warranty? Very nice guy, originally from Colorado, I believe. The number I called to schedule the appointment is (805)520−7245.
