West Coast Self-Storage

I found this place because I needed a u-​haul last minute to help my mom move her stuff into storage. The customer service we received from Matt was the absolute best! He was friendly, courteous, very knowledgeable, a real nice guy. The plan was to move my moms stuff into my storage unit that I have at another place, however she had alot of stuff and because we received such excellent service from Matt, we were happy to get a unit at West Coast! In fact, my plan is to move my current storage and get a unit at West Coast. Matt was great, you just don’t come across people like him anymore, genuinely good person.
As far as the facility goes, very clean, units are awesome, very easy to get to and also the security system is great!

I checked all over and was scared off from other storage spaces by reading about filth, or questionable pricing policies or them jacking up the rent… I visited West Coast SS and Millie was simply awesome… She showed my the (environmentally-​controlled) indoor part of the facility… It was very clean. The lockers are unbreakinable (because the locks are flush with the door)…So far, I am VERY pleased… CHECK THIS PLACE OUT after comparing where you MIGHT go, and I bet you’ll take this place over the one you’ve checked out first!

A little bit ago my boyfriend and I came here for moving supplies and a uhaul rental. When we walked in we were walking around trying to choose box sizes. All the sudden the employee behind the counter yelled at us to stop «throwing» the «items»…we honestly thought he was kidding and making a joke about the fragility of boxes, which we definitely were not throwing. We laughed because again I thought he was joking and he said he wasn’t kidding. Then the employee proceeded to come from behind the counter and walk over to my boyfriend aggressively while grabbing his crotch like he hard or something (working at a storage place). He started asking my boyfriend what he wanted and what was up with him throwing stuff, obviously ready to start a fight (over boxes lol). Then he ran back to the counter to get something but we put our stuff down and just left immediately. This guy was clearly on something or not right in the head. Who tries to fight a customer or even try to make it seem like that? Well be following up with the business later but just wanted to warn people. If a baldish tall younger guy is working bounce because he’s crazy. We were there at 10:15 on 5−24−15.

I had my credit card compromised due to fraud activity and was forced to have it replaced. The bank indicated that it would take 7 – 10 days to receive the new card since it was coming from the east coast. I have been using this service for over 2 years. Joseph said that they «understood» and would waive the late fee due to my business with them over the years. Guess what? Not only did I get billed a $ 57 late fee but they also sent me a pre-​lien letter.
So much for keeping their word!
Update June 4: Although Millie was kind enough to respond on Unilocal to my less-​than-​stellar experience with her location – to add fuel to the fire, I just received a letter stating that my unit fees would increase $ 100 on July 1. Take THAT you complaining customer! :-(

Everything Ryan A. said reflects my experience. Arturo was awesome and super helpful, the building was squeaky clean, the rates are reasonable and the security looks really solid.

Arturo was great. He helped me right away when I walked in and had some questions. Price was competitive for what I was looking at spending.
The unit and building was clean and well maintained.
Took about 15 Minutes for paperwork and then a quick tour to show me how to use the gate, elevator and get to my unit.
Showed up later that evening when my storage items and had plenty of flat carts available for me to use.

went to help my sister out, the guy Arturo who worked there was friendly and informative. the whole initial paper work took a little bit long but not the end of the world. super clean, new facility.

Arturo was very nice and helpful. We were very impressed by his customer service. He took the extra time to show us various units as well explain all policies and procedures. He went the extra mile to ensure we rented the right storage unit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!!!

I had fantastic experience at this facility. we had to rent a UHaul truck on short notice. I was helped by Art (Arturo). He took his time to explain what the charges would be and was very thorough to explain the rules on renting a truck/​Going over the existing condition of the truck. He did all of this quickly and effectively and got me on my way. Definitely a big thumbs up to this guy.

I rarely give a five star review. And admittedly, it’s probably emotionally given because of the absolute debacle that served as the counter-​point to my experience. I had been a customer of All-​Safe Storage since about 2011, but when Public Storage took over, we decided to start shopping for a new storage company. I had been in to West Coast and spoken with a nice guy before yesterday, when I decided to move out same day.
You can read about the terrible experience with PS in another Unilocal,so I won’t bother with it here. Suffice it to say that sometimes the lower limits of customer service intersect squarely with incompetent morons who couldn’t help someone out of a paper bag. This, sadly, happened to me yesterday at PS. It solidified my resolve to stop handing them my money. I went immediately to West Coast, based on the prior contact I had had with Hugo, and the walk-​through of the property.
When I arrived, Millie, the manager, was coming back to the office, and smiled at me and said hello even before I could get out of my car. She said she’d be right there to help me. When I walked in, I saw a couple of middle-​aged guys with friendly faces, who also offered to help me. Millie came in just then and took over. I explained my problem, and of course she was interested, but still took the time to show me some units and give me a brief tour of the property again. I had forgotten Hugo’s name, but she politely corrected me without making me feel too dumb. I felt good about doing business with her — she listened to my issues, and offered solutions, and didn’t rush me. So I went with West Coast then and there.
I needed a truck, and they are also a U-​Haul dealer, so an hour or two later, I had a 14-​footer at my disposal, and with my nephew in tow, we went and moved all the stuff out of the PS nightmare and into West Coast.
Like I said, I’m sure that West Coast is above-​average for customer service, but they treated me like I was their only customer every time I was in the lobby. Turns out the two other gentlemen were regional guys, and were there to help Millie get new college kids squared away. It seems great to me that the company supports its staff and customers in this way. They were both really friendly guys, too, and by the end of the day, I was greatly cheered up by the group of folks. What a juxtaposition of service between the two storage companies, a brief minute or two apart.
I just can’t say enough about these people. I’m even a little sad that we’re still planning to reduce our junk to the point where we won’t need storage anymore.
