Webex Inc., a Cisco company

We used a precedessor Cisco product, which I did not like because of dropped calls, inability to join meetings, etc., but our company went ahead and got an upgrade.
We pretty much use this system for conference calling. I would say that a week does not go by that I am unable to join a meeting, start a meeting or participate in a meeting.
I have used this product for 3+ years for scheduling conference calls as well as participating in meetings/​conference calls and I do not find it reliable.
If you have a heavy volume of meetings to attend and can’t afford down-​time I would advise using Web Ex.

I figured out how to play and convert the *.arf file to *.mp4. The conversion encoding process requires you to replay the clip i.e. takes a very long time. I.e. my 1.5 hour recording took 1.5 hours to encode.
Other features are good, so upgrading it from 1 to 3.

Why do you hate your customers so much? Why? I have been put through the ringer time and again. It’s like you don’t understand ENGLISH. Doh! I have had the worst experience with Cisco Webex for the past few months now. Bad communication, patronizing, talked down to. Miss billed. Over and Over again just so much nonsense with no department knowing what the hell is going on with the other! And who suffers? The customer! If I could give negative 10 stars I would. I have had so many headaches and so much misinformation from Webex. One person tells me one thing, Another person tells me another thing and yet another person tells me something completely different!!! No one seems to talk over there about what is going on with ONE Account!!! You guys suck more than I can even accurately describe to anyone. Just please if you are looking for an online conferencing or meeting application AVOID WEBEX AT ALL COSTS!!! They will blow your mind! But in a bad way!!! They will actually make you want to shoot yourself from frustration!

Webex sucks so much crap, I can’t believe it is still being used by the IT support industry. I feel the only reason we have to use it is because my company is a partner of Cisco, which is very, very unfortunate.
List of issues:
1. Whenever starting a Webex session, mouse and keyboard control constantly shifts to the Webex window. Interrupting any kind of work you are trying to do while Webex is «Loading… 50%». At least finish loading before you steal my control!
2. Webex hides its own windows while in a session. As a support person, controlling someone’s desktop, when they have the chat window or any other Webex window opened, I can not see it and there is no indication that it is blocking my mouse pointer from being able to click on what I want. This is the most silly, backwards design I have ever heard of. Why would you hide your own application windows??? You make us all look as idiotic as your developers must be.
3. The latest version of my Webex web client has no «Log out» button. Nowhere. Not under any of the category tabs, or pages. This is absolutely unbelievable. I just tried joining a colleague’s room, but since I was already logged in to my own Webex in my browser it would only open MY personal room. WTF?! Seriously? I had to actually open an InPrivate Window (and couldn’t install your plugin) to get into my colleague’s room, because Webex did not give me a Log Out.
4. Slow. Servers are slow. Controls are slow.
5. LogMeIn Rescue is the way to go.

Horrible communications and customer service. Took multiple tries to cancel service and they kept the meter running. Never tried calling me when handed over to collections. Found an overdue notice in spam filter and paid the past due invoices, asked them to cancel the account. Got another bill. Called them and was told they had to bill me for yet ANOTHER month. I made it clear that I was not happy about this and they made it pretty obvious they did not care. You can get better features and from the competitors!

Possibility that it is not compatible with Office 2013. WebEx, please update!

Terrible. Really 1.0 old school. Purchased it for a year right off. Thought because it had been around so long it was a standard and I didn’t have to worry. Been nothing but trouble:
1) Recordings not recording — support said they can see it recorded but not showing in console.
2) The recordings are done in a strange format arf that can be converted to mp4 for PCs ON a PC but if you view on a mac can’t convert — only watch.
3) Certainly can’t edit a video with their format.
4) Can’t download the recordings to iPad
5) Support — from India (the 3 I’ve talked to so far) and poor in communication
6) It is hard to find answers to questions/​problems so you have to call — the good news is they have ²⁴⁄₇ — the bad news — see #5
Do NOT use this system. Still looking for a good system. Ideas/​resources welcome.

I’ve been working on a refund for 4 months now. I’ve had several unnecessary requests. One being for a W9 (we did not work for them) and another for our address (hey guess what?! It’s listed on your account!” Every time I call I’m on hold for 30 minutes at a time and am passed between reps in India who have no clue on how to get a refund check issued. GOTOMEETING has been great so far…

, get ready to be beyond frustrated. I had to call support today and had the worst experience ever, I was on the phone with a call center in India for one hour and six minutes. The support person kept asking me to try different browsers and change settings on my browser and I did, after 30 minutes I asked to speak to a supervisor and or to please escalate my call, he refused and only after trying more browser related fixes, none of which worked did he escalate the call (at 53 minutes into the call). Then he put me on hold without telling me anything, after 5 minutes I emailed him (as he had provided his email so that I can send him a screenshot) asking if it was really necessary to keep me on hold this long. The tech came back on the phone and only gave me a reference number after I asked for it. I do not recommend

I run a consulting business and for my actual first webinar today the system was really poor. When I logged in, someone else was considered the host and we all saw his screen. He had to log out and sign back in and it gave him a «user 1» name on the invite list on the right side of the screen. Then 3 of my trainee were logged off and took them 10 minutes to log back in. Then some guys lost audio connection.
I researched online extensively as I had used
but wanted to try out Webex because it has a whiteboard you can use to train on the webinar.
This is a real review because if I knew this would have happened, I would have just continued using
but I really liked the whiteboard feature with webex.
I never had so much technical issues with any other webinar programs and surprised that webex has so much good reviews from
and others. I noticed all the other good reviews from pc mag and other magazines are comparing the features with other companies rather the actual experience once you use the system.
All the features were so good that I switched and then realized the technical side was horrible.
I hope this helps anyone else trying to compare webinar programs.

As someone in the industry, I’ll tell you that some competitors (a certain competitor with a large budget) are very well known to hire international marketing firms to create fake review websites. If you look online, every credible resource gives WebEx high marks.
I’m sure people have gripes, but WebEx has been the standard bearer of the industry. It’s easy, reliable, and integrates well with other productivity tools. The market is very competitive and doubtless every product might fulfill a different business need.
Oh, since this is Unilocal,I’ll say that the building has a yummy cafeteria.

Terrible customer support, they never helped even after three days.

My company has used Webex since atleast 2010, or before. All I’ve had was problems since I switched to a Windows 8 laptop. Webex isn’t updated to work with Win 8.
I switched from Win 7 to Win 8, huge problems, and I realized how antiquated Webex really is. I do 8 hour phone conferences atleast every other month. Webex IT, if there’s trouble, eventually you speak to a real person.
They tell you to dial, whatever, or check online… another one of these companies, if there’s line trouble, check online, and dial in. If you’re kicked out of the meeting, you can’t check online cause you don’t have the meeting information. Once you’re kicked out of the meeting, it takes you 15 minutes to possibly get back on. Hopefully during the 15 minutes you’v’e missed you’ve got a recorder going. That is, if you can get back on the meeting, or talk to anyone at the sever.
Audio is hokey. Logging onto the server. Not reliable.
I’ve no choice in what my company uses for it’s server for webinars. But by choice, I’d never use Webex, with my experience. Seriously, look elsewhere for a different webinar server before using Webex.

WEBEX SUCKS. Not only did they screw up my account — by signing me up for 2 different ones — one in the US — one outside US (completely confusing to me PLUS I end up paying DOUBLE the price). They also have had issues with their billing site. So even though I try multiple times to pay, the site doesn’t work and I continue to get ‘Past due’ emails and notices. One again WEBEX SUCKS DO NOT USE THEM

This is not a good webinar hosting software. My colleague has Audio problems when he was hosting a webinar couple of weeks back. I too faced the same problems.

Webex closed an account opened by a colleague who had left our company on long term disability. No one in his dept. noticed the dunning notices, so, when they came to my attention, I paid the bill. Unfortunately, the account had already been closed. Webex customer service said I had overpaid the bill and that they would give us a refund. I faxed them the credit card account info, but they misdirected or lost my fax.
A month later, they begin dunning us again. I tell them that the account is closed and that they owe us a refund. Customer service tells me that we both owe each other money. Then, another customer service drone requests my credit card info by fax again. I suspect that they will continue to charge me fees on the closed account.
Webex is run as badly as its parent company.
My advice: pick another web conferencing company,

My company used WebEx (Event and Training Cener) for a year. For many staff, it was a pretty high learning curve, which is fine, but WebEx kept on releasing updates that changed everything around. Overall, we felt that it was not intuitive, we experienced technical errors, many features simply did not work well enough to use, and customer service was pretty paltry. When we first signed on with WebEx, we had a specific customer service representative assigned to us. After a few months, we were moved to «long-​term support», which basically meant that it was impossible to contact anyone if we had problems. For such an expensive software service, WebEx sucks. We should not have experienced technical difficulties where consumers could not access our service via WebEx because the line is busy. Video features should not suddenly be removed. Windows and Mac versions of the software should not vary as much as they do. And the list goes on.
We now use Gotomeeting and pay a fraction of the price of WebEx, the features acutally work, they have much better customer service, and the interface is much more intuitive. After such a frustrating experience with WebEx, it’s great to have software that just works.

Webex has to be the most rediculous software and service on the planet. First, you can’t just go to

. Why not just make it easy and log into your account from
and launch anything and everything you are doing from there? What decade do they think this is? Second, the interface was not designed to be easy or usable. I guess this is a hangover from Cisco buying them. They have to make it difficult to use so it fits in the cisco product line. Third and most important, when I tried to cancel and find a real screen sharing solution they punished me with a 60 day notice. Can you believe it, I have to pay for two months and I can’t even use it during that period. This has to be criminal.
Take my advice, don’t use Webex. Their interface is needlessly complex and their service is so convoluted, they don’t even know why I am being charged for two extra months and I can’t use it during this «inactive» period of time. What a joke!

WebEx is difficult to use, and just like all other Cisco products — is defective in every way.
