Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Staff is nice and attentive but food just stay out too long. Tough gig running a buffet table I’m sure but food fresh and food not so fresh is a huge different. Unfortunately, everything I had was old and dry and did not taste good. Sorry :(I really enjoy the concept.

I Wish I Would Have Read The Reviews Because We Too Are Hoping And Praying We Don’t Get Food Poisoning. Just Beware And Go Enjoy A Nice Meal Somewhere Else Because These Reviews With One Star Are So True… Or Just Burn Your Money!!!

pros: clean, plenty of parking, cheap. cons: smaller than average selection. If you are meet lover then you’ll probably find fried chicken, the kind you can by in Safeway, ground beef for tacos and maybe a meatloaf. That’s it.

As a buffet connoisseur, I hold the buffets I visit to a very high standard. Let’s make it clear that this Hometown Buffet location made me believe in the existence of hell. Firstly, as I entered the restaurant, I was met with the stench of moldy carpet and asbestos-ridden walls. Plugging my nose and swallowing my pride, I paid for my meal and proceeded to fill my plate. As I lifted the ladle of nacho cheese, I watched in horror as a thick plastic film made it impossible to even fathom eating the cheese. Furthermore, when I walked past the bacon and eggs, I noticed that the bacon was just greased up plastic, and the eggs were made of the recycled rubber turf from Levi’s Stadium. The French toast, pancakes, and waffles were better fit for use in construction. As I picked up a cookie and a brownie, they were both hard as rocks and nearly impossible to eat. Fortunately, with the staff’s permission, I donated these items to be used by discus teams at underprivileged high schools who can’t afford their own equipment. Upon sitting down at my table, I found that the chair was creaky, the silverware was dirty, and the table was extremely sticky. Due to my desperation at the time, I shamefully consumed several pounds of food, unbeknownst of the impeding torture I would have to go through. When I left this horrific establishment, I felt quite queasy, but had no real problems. Because I did not want to contract HIV, I abstained from using the bathroom. When driving home, I heard a loud groan from my stomach, similar to a blue whale’s mating call. Suddenly, I urgently had to empty the liquid hell that was coagulating in my bowels. Unfortunately, I was on the highway and was unable to immediately use a bathroom. Then, it happened. Without warning, a hot, yellow liquid shot out of my poor anus and completely ruined my underwear, pants, and Gucci flip flops. I lost control of my vehicle and quickly swerved to the shoulder. For at least 50 minutes, I sat on the side of the highway, spewing a rancid mix of digested, Hometown Buffet food from my rear. As I got back into my car and returned to my home, I had a sudden realization about the food I had just eaten. As we all know, the world is in quite a predicament with plastic products and their ability to be recycled. Due to their chemical properties, they often can not be recycled and are instead dumped in landfills. In order to combat this, Hometown Buffet has taken a bold initiative and used old plastic to make their food. While the bacon and eggs are not necessarily tasty(or even real for that matter), they provide an opportunity for humans to convert detrimental plastic to human waste. Furthermore, although most of the beverages contain typhoid or some other water-borne diseases, they help strengthen one’s immune system. Lastly, the cooks are skilfully trained in microwaving foods of all different varieties. Despite these immense benfits, the food from Hometown Buffet unfortunately gave me Stage 4 stomach cancer and a lemon-sized brain tumor. Furthermore, my anus is still in very poor condition. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience, but must give this location«1 star» because they briefly ran out of plates, and I had to wait for roughly 15 seconds. Would recommend to a friend!

I can’t believe the experience I just had here. I took my little sister, my nephew and I and my total was $ 50!!! My kids were so excited to come here and when I sent them to get their food first they both came back with one plate with barely anything on it. They also looked very disappointed. I asked them whats wrong and why didn’t they get much food and they said everything looked gross. So thinking that they are just being picky kids I go to get my plate, and I came back with just mashed potatoes. They were right! Everything looked just disgusting! I was very disappointed that I just spent $ 50 on this crap! So I told the kids to just go grab some ice cream(their favorite part) and we left. The kids said that they were still hungry so we just went to grab a little Ceasars pizza.(how sad right) the pizza was a million times better than that place. I will NOT return. Can’t believe that was such a waste of money!

It was quite bad, but I feel like it was just an off day for them. An amazingly nice staff. Made me feel at home to be honest. They even sang happy birthday to people. Summary: Very nice workers, but not quality food but not the worst food ever + all you can eat = 3 stars for me

I hope and pray I don’t get any food poisoning from this place. My husband was craving the China China Buffet tonight, but apparently it’s closed. We didn’t want to waste our trip here to Santa Clara and decided to check out the hometown buffet site. I’m from Hayward, and our hometown buffet is pretty decent(even though I don’t care for buffets). I had high expectations for this hometown buffet being its in Santa Clara. However my expectations were immediately dashed upon entry. The restaurant smells of used old wash rags and the carpet needs a good deep cleaning, as well as the chairs and tables — everything(yikes). I didn’t eat much of the food due to the other patrons coughing, licking their fingers, and eating while waiting in line. Really? Ugh. I wanted to be a good sport and not abruptly leave since my hubby was rather famished LOL! The hubby was already delving into his fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Dear God, I pray we will be safe tonight. We cannot afford to be sick. I hope the management here revamps the place while obtaining and retaining more workers. I feel bad for the staff, they gotta deal with these annoying customers; including myself lol. This restaurant was unacceptable. Sorry, I’m not returning ever. Peace.

very depressing place eat and with the quality of food and sticky floors, it wasn’t worth the coupon. very few selections of hot food, sad taco and salad section. dessert was a joke, but what’s worse is that the ice cream machine was broken. They had a special going on for fried shrimp like popcorn shrimp, butterfly shrimp, and salmon(which was nonexistent including the shrimp except butterfly). I did not see any of the shrimp they advertised ex ept the butterfly. Everything I tried out was below aversge, but the butterfly shrimp was good. My sandals broke from the floors being so sticky. I’d rather eat McDonald’s considering I hate Mcdonald’s.

Short answer: skip it. Long answer: The food at this HB is below par with the exception of a couple desserts and their fried chicken(which is okay). Everything else just taste like old cafeteria food to me, especially their steak dishes which were dried out and chewy. As you can probably read from some of the other reviews this place really is disgustingly dirty. No one even bothered cleaning our table off. It still had left over food crumbs and napkins from the previous person who ate there. The floors are sticky and not swept either. Also I had to grab a new fork because the one I was using had a tiny bit of food still stuck to it. I’m not sure why sanitation is not a priority for them, but they have to be losing customers over this. With all the wonderful places to eat in Santa Clara I just can’t recommend Hometown Buffet. Clean this place up!

We visited a few more HomeTown buffets over the years. The one in Newark has been our favorite because it is closer. The one in Milpitas sucks. In LA it also sucks. The one in Fort Lauderdale, OMG, it has so much varieties, tons of meat, too bad I only had one chance. Wife hates it and seldom goes with me and son(who loves it religiously), especially on vacation.

Good food even if I was a little late. I especially appreciate their Monday discount for military people. I think that is a nice way to say thank you.

I have eaten at HomeTownBuffets throughou the Midwest and in Oregon and love them. This place is a disgrace to the franchise It smells like a locker room. The carpets are filthy and the waitresses don’t even try to pick up dropped items like napkins. The manager told a customer to «be careful«of spilled noodles; clean it up! The lettuce mostly was okay, but some was wilted. The potatoes were swimming in water. The serving spoons were caked with the food they were serving and were not changed out when fresh food was brought out. Our waitress introduced herself and other than picking up one dirty dish, never checked in at all. $ 50 for a family of four, only because it is kids night so we saved $ 4.50 on one. Stay away! There is NO redeeming quality about this restaurant.

Food did not taste all that well. Dead bugs inside lamp over my table. Also im a veteran and asked about veterans discount and they said no. Cant see myself recommending a location that doesn’t honor veterans. Other hometown buffet locations gives a discount for vets.

I treated my parents to the Dinner menu, the service was nice and friendly(2 stars for them) but the food wasnt anything special. The pizza was like cardboard(ive had better in high school) the chicken was hard and the roast they had was way way way to rare… they had some good food such as the fish, mini corn dogs, the salad bar selection, mashed potatoes and the deserts BUT for the price i paid to eat there and what they offered I could have gotten better at Dennys down the road.

Went for breakfast last Sunday! Arrived around 10 am. Family of 3 around $ 20.00. Have not been here in awhile, but was pleasantly surprised at some of the changes they had made. It seems the quality of food has definitely improved. The bacon was crisp and didn’t seem to be made in a microwave like before. They still have the omelet station which is my personal favorite. They now have hash browns and tater tots, which were delicious. They have a wide variety of pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs, potatoes, fruit, cereal, sausage & bacon. Worth the money. Now this is the real reason I am writing a review: The person who was attending to our table was Anthony! He is extremely efficient at what he does and to top it all off he does it with a smile. Talk about customer service oriented, Anthony is all the way. He cleared our used plates quickly, was extremely happy, went out of his way to get us hot sauce and he was like this with EVERY table. 5 stars for Anthony’s customer service.

I went for breakfast with my family. French toast, waffles, hash browns… Those were decent. Not a fan of the pancakes. I stayed until the lunch options were put out. They used a different macaroni noodle for the mac and cheese, however, I love this place for the mac and cheese. the CHEESE. so they still get a thumbs up for it… but the noodle they used definitely threw me off. They had a turkey roast thing that they cut for you. That was BOMB. Why do I always avoid that part? It was really juicy and tender. I think that is the reason I want to go again. :P salad was… WARM. WHYISSALADWARM?! DOYOUNOTKEEPTHECOOLERCOLD?! DOYOUNOTREFRIGERATETHEVEGETABLES. Salads should be cold. This is my rule. I don’t like it when my raw vegetables and salad dressing are warm. THISISNOT A GOURMETBUFFET! why else would it be so cheap. You get what you pay for, so if you just want massive food, then go for that reason ;P So I like it for what it is. :) It’s nice to go out with a family that eats a lot for just a Sunday brunch, every once in a while. :)

Ants! Need I say more? Well there is more. This staff seems not to care less about the job, the place or if you enjoy it. One of he ugliest messes I have encountered in a buffet place. Really? That busy in a Tuesday? I think not. Pathetic.
