Tri Valley Sleep Center

Summary: Do NOT trust this office: Doctor Singh, the nurse (cannot recall her name), and the scheduling staff. They are not a trust worthy group and are not worth your time or money. They may appear friendly but will use scare tactics to get you to do the sleep study (which is very expensive), then will try to continue to convince you for a second test and beyond.
My story: I’ve always been a snorer and always wondered if I have sleep apnea. I finally did some searches on Unilocal and found Tri Valley Sleep Center with positive ratings (albeit only a handful of reviews). I ended up doing a consultation and then staying one night for the sleep apnea test. The good news is that they confirmed I do NOT have sleep apnea. The bad news is that they don’t follow-​up, don’t follow-​through (staff said she will call me back to schedule a follow-​up with doctor — never happened). The ugly is that they continued to try to convince me that I should take additional sleep apnea tests to test for other issues like epilepsy (?!). This place is dishonest and I would NOT recommend anyone to come here.
Reviews of their staff:
Front Office: from a customer service perspective, they fluctuate between «nice» to «I don’t give a sh*t» to «I have no idea what’s going on.» They also do not know how to use their scheduling system or the webcam system (for a debrief with the nurse/​doctor). Finally, don’t trust them when they say they’ll follow up with you to schedule any appointments — you need to be proactive and call them back. (At least this is my experience)
Nurse: The nurse is generally friendly, but will use scare tactics to convince you that you need to take the sleep apnea test. During my debrief, the nurse notified me that I am actually a very healthy sleeper, but quickly followed up with additional questions to convince me to take another sleep apnea test. She started to become more and more pushy until I told her I’d prefer to talk to the doctor to get his opinion.
Dr. Singh: Rude, unhelpful, and did not offer any real advice. Dr. Singh reconfirmed that I do not have sleep apnea and that I’m just a snorer. Since I spent quite a bit of money for the sleep apnea test and to see Dr. Singh (a «sleep doctor»), I was hoping he would at least be able to give me advice on how to minimize or prevent snoring. Instead, he said general things like, «There are products out there you can get to might help lower your snoring.» (In my mind, I was thinking, «No sh*t, Sherlock! I can easily Google that myself without paying thousands on a sleep study and to talk to a sleep doctor!») I essentially had to ask follow-​up questions to get Dr. Singh to be more specific. At the end, he finally recommended only one product «Theravent» without saying how effective it is, and offered no other advice. Theravent has only ok reviews on Amazon. So much for relying on an «expert.»
Sleep study facilitator: The lady who assists you DURING the sleep apnea test is the only person I had a thoroughly positive experience with. She was kind, responsive, and seemed to know what she was doing.
Unless you want to be scared into taking multiple sleep apnea tests, and drop hundreds or thousands (depending on your health insurance), I recommend that you stay away. Learn from my horrible experience.

Physician Dr. Singh evaluated and helped my husband with snoring/​sleep apnea difficulties 5 years ago. That involved spending the night in the clinic hooked up to lots of wires which are recording your sleep pattern. The technician was knowledgeable and precise with set up and monitoring. What a difference that test made for my husband as he now faithfully uses a CPAP machine while sleeping. No more snoring, total quality rest (for both of us)! Once stabilized, an annual visit to Dr. Singh is scheduled to evaluate use and settings. For difficulties in between there is plenty of back up support from office staff and equipment vendor.

Dr. Singh has a solid background (you can see his resume on the website, and find other articles about his work throughout the web) and is highly competent in the sleep field. He genuinely wants to help you, and is willing to do what it takes to get you some good sleepy time. His operation, along with the sleep center, is very organized and modern — they now have a profile and appointment tracker all online for you where you can update your medical history and check your appointment times. They also do a thorough questionnaire every time you go in, and Dr. Singh reviews and updates your records thoroughly on every appointment. This is not an assembly line operation.
In addition, the office staff is superb. They are always very responsive to requests and very friendly. Dr Singh is also very responsive and actually responded to me quickly on an urgent matter which I greatly appreciated. A+ for Dr. Singh and the entire sleep center organization. I love these guys!

Being a sleep specialist myself, as well as a sleep apnea patient, I feel well qualified to give Dr. Singh and his staff a great review. His center for sleep feels very much like a hotel room rather than a sleep clinic. The bedroom was comfortable, the office and bathroom were clean and the surroundings were calming. Dr. Singh shows a deep interest in a complete diagnosis and is very thorough.

I come here for sleep studies and appointments with Dr. Singh. He’s very knowledgeable and experienced in the field of sleeping disorders. Very detailed with explanations and answered all of my questions about my deep snoring and sleep apnea. Although I still don’t believe I have sleep apnea, he makes me believe I do. Okay, I guess I do. whatever! :)
The rooms for sleep studies are clean, some with t.v.‘s with Comcast HD.
The staff is very nice, and responsive. They help their clients to the fullest.

I dunno what the deal is with the previous reviewer, but ANYWHERE you go, they’re going to have to hook up the same number of leads… the more data points, the more effective the study.
That said, my experience was quite different that Ian’s. The office staff was quite courteous, Dr. Singh was helpful and actually took interest in the issues I was having. I had two sleep studies there, and had different techs both times, but both were courteous and worked quickly and efficiently.
No complaints (and I can be difficult to please — check out my other reviews), i’d recommend Tri Valley Sleep Center.
