My husband is a freak about pain and had to have a crown put on. He raved about how painless and thorough Dr. Cartago was. The front office people and the assistants are just awesome. The whole office is friendly, state of the art, and affordable. We are very pleased to have found an amazing new dentist for our family.

I have been with my regular dentist for 14 years but I have a new perspective since my recent visit at Perfect Smiles Family Dentistry in San Ramon with Dr. David Cartago and his staff. Dr. David has a manner and ease that makes you look forward to going to the dentist. I am impressed by his skill as well as his thorough but quick assessment of my dental needs. His staff gave me tips and insights during my examination that helps me now have a more complete picture of the health of my teeth and my dental care habits and I am grateful. I have to single out Kristine as an amazing professional who handles the business side with the highest level of competence and expertise. She is one of strongest assets to a family-​style operation that is easy-​going, warm & friendly, and completely proficient at make your experience at the dentist worthwhile! Dr. Cartago and his staff took very good care of me during my first visit. I received. A X-​rays, cleaning, polishing, and consultation on cavities that need to be addressed. Dr. Cartago was patient while explaining some points of concerns in my X-​rays and recommended fixes that I was expecting to hear.
The front office staff were very friendly and helpful. I felt like an actual customer and not a burden to them. My wife will be switching to this office as well.
I made an appointment for next week to have the cavities addressed. I will write more after that visit.

I’ve been going here for about a year, but have had nothing but positive experiences. After having a not so good experience with my previous dentist I was on the search for someone else and closer to home. I stumbled upon Perfect Smiles on Unilocal and was like sure why not. Let’s give them a try. I can’t say this enough, but the staff is wonderful. Hi Christine! Dr. Cartago is one of the most professional but coolest individuals I’ve had the opportunity to work with. He definitely cares about his patients and wants to do what’s best for you. The kicker, which shouldn’t be surprising but is, they listen to you. I had some concerns about old «veneers» and the unsightly gap between my two front teeth. Dr. Cartago took his time to lay out my options for me and instead of pushing for one thing or another was simply like «think it over and let us know.» Whhhaaa??? Oh, and I love that they’re open on some Saturdays and they actually remember who you are! They have a cool notification system via text, but I always get a call from Christine to remind me of my appointments a few days before.
Highly recommend anyone searching for a new dentist to check out Perfect Smiles.

I switched insurance and needed to find a new dentist. This office was on the list from my insurance and after checking the Unilocal reviews I decided I would give this office a try. Normally I would have called but because of my job it is easier for me to communicate through email. So I went on their website and contacted them about if they accept my insurance and when they had an available appointment. Elena replied very quickly through e-​mail. She was very professional and informative. If I have any questions she is fast in responding and explaining things to me. She is great.
The office is was clean and Dr. Cartago was nice. I’m glad I found this office and will continue going here.

Just moved to the area so needed a new dentist. Had my first appointment for a check up the other day and all went well! Everyone was very friendly; and my teeth felt CLEAN. I already scheduled my next appointment!

Relocated to the area and being a finicky patient, I was debating between driving an hour+ to stay with my trusty dental team, but decided to give Perfect Smiles a shot, since they had such fantastic reviews on Unilocal.
I’ve been in twice over the past few weeks (standard cleaning and minor cavity filling), and both experience have been fantastic.
The staff is both friendly and professional. It’s easy to book appointments (and they have a nice reminder system). Health care seemed top-​notch and I had no discomfort after both visits. Appointments are timely – they clearly don’t make you sit there for any longer than you need to. They’re also incredibly transparent about costs, and I really appreciated receiving a printed quote that broke down what the cost of my filling would be, taking in account what my insurance covered (prior to my appointment!).
Albeit a very new patient, i’m incredibly happy with my experience and have booked my next cleaning.

If your looking for a good dentist, I recommend going to perfect smiles! They have the friendliest staff (look for Cristine, Charlotte, and Ofcourse Dr. Cartago). I’ve been going here for years, and they never disappoint. The clinic is clean and they offer snacks, coffee, and water! The best for all ages.

I’ve been a patient since the Brentwood office opened. Dr. Cartago and his staff are so pleasant to work with (never thought I’d say that about my dentist lol)… They’re very attentive, professional, and informative. Their office is state of the art… Making the chore of getting dental work done a nice experience!

Perfect Smiles Family Dentistry is definitely the best practice we have been to since we moved to the Bay Area. Finally found a family dentist staff that is great with kids and really understands how to treat their customers. Can’t say enough about them!

I’ve been a patient at this office (and the Brentwood office too!) for a few years now and I already know ill never be going to any other dentist, no matter where I live! Dr. Cartago and his staff are amazing and are very informative, never leaving me with any questions unanswered, and I actually understand procedures that need to be done!
It all starts when you walk into the office. Right away, you get a «home» and «cozy» family-​feeling office. With a couple computers to use while waiting (not long) for your appt to start, you can check your email or browse the web in the meantime. And they also have coffee/​tea available while you’re also waiting in the couch chairs in front of a clear and big flat screen!
But the entertainment doesn’t end there! While in your dentist chair, you have your own personal flat screen available to watch while getting work done. They even have headphones available for use to drown out that drill sound that we all know so well. It makes the appointment go by swiftly and has you feeling more comfortable that you would ever feel at any dentist.
If any procedure needs to be done, I’ve never had someone sit down and take the time to review my treatment (and finance) options as well as this office has. Not only do I understand what needs to be done for my appointment, but I also know what my insurance will/​will not cover with options! That’s more than a lot of people can say trying to understand their own insurance policies!
This office has everything to make you feel like you’re part of a family, and always has you well informed about your visits. I highly recommend, and always tell my friends, about Perfect Smiles Family Dentistry.

I have had Dr. Cartago fill some cavities and he is very efficient and gentle. My whole family gets their dental care here and everyone always leaves happy. The kids like watching tv while they get their cleaning on the tv’s above the dental chairs. The ladies in the office are all so sweet and accomodating. This is really the best experience I have had in a dental office.

I am not exactly an enthusiast when it comes to going to the dentist, mainly from experiences of disinterested dentists who are cold and the only conversations that you receive from them appear to be dental lectures. Because of my experiences in the past, I have put off going for as long as I could. You could say, I loathe going. Nevertheless, I finally told myself enough is enough and I had to go for me. My experience at Perfect Smiles Family Dentistry has restored my faith in dental care. From the receptionist to the dental hygienist and the doctor. I had the most pleasant experience one could have at the dentist office, I could even use the word enjoyable. The clinical staff was truly very kind, patient and informative. They made my time in the dental chair as comfortable as possible, watching my morning talk shows didn’t hurt either and was a helpful distraction while they worked away. Without a doubt, I recommend Perfect Smiles Family Dentistry. Gone are the days of loathing my dentist appointments. I am actually looking forward to my next visit.

My family and I love going to Dr. Cartago for our dental care. We feel really cared for when we’re there. Their entire staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They actually take the time to talk to you and get to know you better rather than jumping straight into performing your dental services. They also take the time to explain what they’re doing to you and how they’re doing it.
One of my favorite memories there is when one of their staff noticed that I had a lot of gunk between my teeth so she asked me to show her how I flossed. When I showed her, she said that I was doing it incorrectly and she spent several minutes showing me how to get it done right. It makes me wonder why my previous dentists didn’t make the same effort with me. It’s no wonder I feel secure and confident in having Perfect Smiles care for my oral needs. :-)
It also doesn’t hurt that they provide computers with internet access for their patients waiting in the lobby. Lol. And oh yes, their free cookies, coffee, and other goodies are great, too, especially since I have a severe sweet tooth. Good thing I’m getting such great dental care, otherwise I’m sure I’d have a ton of cavities.
If you’re looking for a dentist in the East Bay, I highly recommend Perfect Smiles. Trust me when I say that you will not regret it!

I like this place.
They have a huge tv in the waiting lobby, next to the Keurig coffemaker and cookies. LOVE. I can slurp down a quick cup before I get my teeth cleaned :) The receptionist has always been really pleasant and friendly, even when I’ve spoken to her on the phone to make future appointments. You have a gem there, folks, if you’re reading this.
My first exam here was fantastic. Not only did they thoroughly clean my teeth, but also examined my tongue and gums. The hygienist was very chatty and cool, which I appreciated. I was surprised and pleased at their attention to detail. Plus I can watch tv overhead, with personal headphones, while I have my exam!
I got custom trays made for my teeth, and whitening gel! I’m a whitening fiend, so this is great. I recommend them.

Can you image that I am sitting right now in the lobby on this dentist office?! It’s my first time here with my cousin and he’s getting some work done + some x-​rays!
Haha, some guy who was delivering free phonebooks just walked in the door and handed it to me and it made the assistant working here behind me laugh! I guess he thought I was working here because I’m typing away on one of the few new Dell computers they have for guests!
This place is really well designed, high tech, and it has huge flat screen mounted on the wall in front of 3 cozy sofa chairs. If anyone never went to a Dentistry office like this one, you have to come here.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a REAL dentist. This is Dr. Cartago’s «home» office as he has another office in Brentwood. Dr. Cartago & his staff are great & the office is really nice. It’s a bit small, but the décor is modern, w/​flat screen TVs everywhere.
When I was waiting Dr. Cartago was very friendly & sat to talk with me for about 10 min to get to know me & then the hygienist also talked with me in the chair when I was waiting for Dr. Cartago to finish up with another patient. I liked that they had the cameras there to show me my problem teeth & were very thorough with my care plan. not to mention they answered all 1000 of my questions.
As a new patient, I got to choose between an MP3 player & free teeth whitening for life! Naturally, I thought I’d have to pay for the trays or something (nothing is truly free), but this is!!! Every time I go back for my 6 month cleaning they give me refills & my trays & fitting are free! Go figure.
The office is right by Le Asia Supermarket so its kinda easy to miss & the outside of the office looks a little crummy, but don’t let that fool you, the inside is clean & updated.
