The purchase of your first home can be a terrifying and intimidating process. Not with Damien there explaining every step of this technical and complicated process. He demonstrated a superior knowledge of his trade and made the entire situation extremely comfortable.

TL;DR: Damien and his staff made buying my first home one of the most painful, stressful processes I have ever had to endure (and I was in a life threatening car accident).
His staff borders on criminally incompetent, in particular a transaction coordinator whose name begins with M and resembles a car brand.
While I understand that there is a great deal of personal information that needs to be divulged while financing a home purchase, these people did nothing to indicate what would and would not be necessary going into it in the first place. They should have taken the time to get to know me better from the start, understand the lay of the financial land, as it were. Instead they just kind flew through with a rubber stamp, and as such every request from them felt rushed/​invasive as a last minute demand that I needed to turn around instantly or risk losing my house.
Speaking to this previous point, when it came time to get final loan approval, and there had been an issue getting some inconsequential documents to the underwriter, Damien and his Transaction coordinator left town with 2 DAYS till the original closing date, and DIDN’T PROVIDE ANYONE TO COVER IN HIS ABSENCE. HE ALSO DIDN’T EVEN TELL ME HE WAS LEAVING.
On top of that I was assured I had loan approval almost 2 weeks prior to them being able to furnish the final loan closure paperwork to the seller of the house, jeopardizing the whole deal.
The only thing to his credit, Damien kept asking me if «I had any questions» or to «feel free to reach out with any questions». The problem with that is, as a first time home buyer you don’t even know what questions to ask. You don’t have anything to base this kind of purchase against, so everything is novel. You’re relying on the expertise of this person to guide you through it.
Had it not been more trouble than it was worth (and I was advised against it), I would have switched agents in a heart beat. I can’t guarantee the next guy would be any better, but I don’t feel like it could have been much worse.
If you value your sanity, go elsewhere.
