I have been going to John for my mortgage and lending needs for about 15 years and have always found John and his staff to be up front, honest and hardworking. We have purchased two houses and refinanced on another, and John and his staff always made the process as simple and pain-​free as possible (only so much you can control when dealing with the numerous parties involved in mortgages). Over the past few years, as the housing crisis hit and house prices fell and rose again, and interest rates did the same thing, John kept open communication, so we could assess the best time to refinance, etc. I really appreciated that aspect of our interaction. John Rogers came highly recommended by a good friend of mine and I must say, he and his team greatly exceeded any already high expectations we might have had. We went to John looking for funding to buy our first home with an FHA loan. John was extremely knowledgeable and made the seemingly daunting process easier than I ever thought it could be. We looked for a house for what was beginning to seem like an eternity and John and his team were there for us every step of the way, answering any financial questions we had. When the time came to close they were quick and efficient, making sure we stayed on top of all the paperwork and deadlines. We ended up with a home that we love and a great interest rate as well.
Eight months or so after our purchase, we were ready to refinance from the FHA loan to a conventional loan and once again, John and his amazing staff were there to guide us through and make the process a breeze. The part about the refinance that sticks out most in my mind is getting a call from John in the middle of the day telling me that he felt that it was time two make the decision and lock in our rate because things may be on the move. This really speaks to John’s years of industry experience, because over the next day or two interest rates moved up about half a point!

I hate asking for money. Unfortunately I am not financially set to buy a house in cash, especially here in the Bay Area. One of the thing I fear the most is asking for a loan, especially a sizable loan for a house. Not only are there a lot of different checks and balances (Rightfully so), it can take days/​weeks and the end results might not always be favorable for you. With so many moving pieces it’s only right that you choose your partner wisely. This is the reason why we decided to go with John Rogers, GM at Apex Mortgage and why we highly recommend John Roger and his team.
We first met John Rogers through a recommendation from our realtors. We had bad experiences with lenders in the past so going with someone new was needed. At our first meeting, John was very good at explaining what the processes are, something that was never done by our previous lenders. He was able to go through the details and let us know where we can position ourselves to win in the case we’re against multiple offers. He was also helpful in factoring in monthly payments, how much we can afford, play with numbers to see what our comfort would be based on the listing price of the house. Through that first meeting, we knew that we had found the right partner.
After finding THE house, John was quick in replying to my questions all hundreds of them, getting documents prepared, and even reminding me of what the next steps are going to be. We were aiming for a quick close and we achieved that goal. Throughout the process John was accessible (Gave direct access to his cell phone) and that was the most important part to us. We got the rate that we wanted, no balls were dropped and in the end the loan funded exactly as planned. This was the first time I felt like a customer when borrowing something, very satisfied!

I met Terra a number of years ago through common friends. My friends, Barb and Trish, worked with her (from my reference) and things went well.
When I was looking to refi my mortgage loan, Terra was extremely helpful. It all went very quickly and smoothly.

At first my real estate agent referred me to one of «his» brokers that was experienced with 1^st time buyers who I wont mention and all that did is cause me headaches and actually a lost deal then I reached out to the APEX team.

John and his team are by far the best Ive worked with and I used to work in the mortgage industry. I also have a very respected Realtor with a good reputation and 25+ years of experience. She is the one who referred us to John! She also says he is THE BEST!!! We bought 2 houses through him and are VERY pleased with the service. 1. Efficient & Responsive — He called/​emailed back within less than 2 hours every time — even on weekends and evenings!
3. Honest & Caring — I felt he gave us advise as a friend vs someone just trying to close a deal. I was impressed that he also told us not to be pushed into buying because he didn’t want us to regret paying «too much» for the house. Most others will push you to buy because that means a deal closed for them! I felt he genuinely cared.
4. Hard working — I know how long things can take to process and they work their tails off! We bought in December and wanted to have Xmas in the new house. With all the holiday delays and back up from all the Refis we didn’t know if we could close in time. He told us exactly what they would do to try and make it happen but he was also honest and said there’s a chance it might not go through. It wasn’t looking good BUT John and his team worked so hard and made it happen!!! I was so excited and appreciative!!!
5. Knowledgeable — We were trying to buy a house but the appraisal came in low and the seller would not budge. We thought it was over but John was able to figure out a loan option that worked for us financially and would allow us to buy the house.

We have worked with John Rogers over the last 6 months to get our first home on a VA Loan. I could not have asked for a better experience with our loan. As the reviewer below said, VA Loans do require a lot more work from all parties involved. John was always there for us to answer questions (and I had A LOT) of questions. We bid on 21 houses and John was always responsive with letters for us to attach to our offers. After about 10 – 15 bids, I started losing hope that we would ever find a house– John was incredibly encouraging, and helped us look at other loan options that might work for us (including some that he would have to broker out & not receive payment for). We did end up getting a VA loan (at an amazing rate) and a funding credit to pay a lot of our closing costs.
His processor, Sarah Wallace was amazing. She would go out of her way to make sure we knew exactly what was on all of our forms, and there were a lot of forms. I could not recommend John enough, and we will be using them for all of our needs. I was shocked at the one star reviews below, as I could not have asked for a better experience. Give John a try. He is worth it!

Don’t bother. I applied for a quote via their website. I got a short response later that day «You mention that your house was on the market… my question is, how much was it on the market for and how much do you think it will appraise for?», then heard nothing back. I’m was looking for a refi and am very qualified. Apparently they didn’t think so and didn’t bother responding.
