They are crooks. The owner is unscrupulous and this business really should be shut down. It’s ironic that they contract to tow with the San Rafael Police Department. My car was impounded on two separate occasions and I was told several different things that made it nearly impossible to retrieve my car.
They did not conform to the requirements by law notifying me in writing that my car was even there or that they were attempting a lien sale. I had to track it down and call the DMV.
Avoid them at all costs!

Got stranded on the way to San Francisco near the San Quentin state prison at 1am on a Saturday night/​Sunday morning. The area was very desolate and dark. Nobody was around. And I was alone. My roadside assistance with my rental car company could not locate me on the map (since I did not have an address to give them, and it wasn’t until much later when I found out I was near a prison). Luckily the police noticed I was stranded while I was on the shoulder of the road and I told them that I had been waiting for over 2 hrs for my company to come. So they called Valley Towing, and they quickly came to the rescue. The man from Valley towing was nice and helpful after my rental car company paid him (key word, «after» Lol). I guess he just wanted to make sure I understood the expensive charge. The prices were outrageous, at $ 250 an hour. The entire tow was almost $ 500 total, for a 30 mile tow back to the rental car company. But luckily my rental car company took care of all the fees (which could partly be the reason why I’m so generous with the 3 stars Lol). I would have been furious if I had been responsible for that expensive charge. Bottom line is, Valley Towing got the job done and the service was fast and decent.

Do not use this towing service!
The driver arrived with a flatbed truck and he said it could not safely get into my apartment driveway as the cab was too large. He said he would return in 40 minutes with a smaller tow truck. When I called the company to check on this, I was told there was no way they could come back as other ‘calls’ were waiting. They told me to go thru my insurance company tomorrow and I could get another towing service. I’ll never use Valley Towing in San Rafael again! Avoid them!

Took over two hours for my truck to be picked up for a tow in San Rafael after their dispatcher originally told me it would be an hour to possibly an hour and twenty minutes.
I have used Red Hill towing out of Corte Madera with no issues and timely, friendly service.

If there was a minus Star I would give it to this company. They have the WORST service I have ever experienced. We were so disappointed with they way we were treated and talked to in a very disrespectful manner. The driver was rude & condescending. With all the competition out there, you would think customer service would be #1. Not so, I am so offended. And Apparently I am not alone in this sentiment.

Criminals. Period. I was involved in a motorcycle versus car accident a week ago. Upon being released from the hospital but while still under Dr.‘s orders not to move from my home I began taking care of loose ends. Included in that list was arranging for the retrieval of my rather rare motorcycle which the PD had picked up by Valley Towing from the scene of the accident. When I called, they said the storage fee was $ 70 per day. FOR A MOTORCYCLE!!! I decried? You’ve got to be kidding me! So I sent my Dad down there, with whom I share a name, with a copy of my ID, the registration and insurance for the bike and they gave him a rash of shit about not being the owner. Their pick up fee is $ 250 and I know places you can store a LearJet for less money. After he gave the boss the up and down over the phone, they acquiesced only to push the bike out the door and bid him good luck. So apparently, $ 750 doesnt even buy some help getting it on the trailer. Do everyone a favor and tell your local sheriff and police department not to use these crooks. Their game is actually to jack their bill up so fast that their ‘clients’ wind up surrendering title enlieu of a… wait for it…$ 2100 per month storage lien!!. That way, they either rape the insurance company or get to put the vehicle back together and sell it for a tidy profit of their own. A total scam. I wouldnt piss on them if they were on fire.

These guys suck. My car was towed by an angry neighbor and I got there within 24 hours. No one home. I cam back a few hours later, still no one home. A guy named Carlos drives up and makes a phone call — says someone will be there in an hour and I won’t be charged storage.
I come back in an hour, about 3 hours past the 24 hour «free» storage period and I am charged 2 days of storage at $ 70 per — an extra $ 140. These guys are crooks. Luckily they damaged my vehicle and I paid by AMEX, so I am pulling out all the stops to make them earn their stolen money!
Filed a claim with AMEX and an insurance claim as well as filing a complaint with the CA state department that regulates these clowns.

Do not use this tow service, even if the COPS say to. My car was damaged in an accident on Friday at 4. The driver was nice enough, takes my car, and takes my key, and says to stop by if I need anything out of the car. Valley Tow wants me to pay $ 135 gate fee, to access my car, when they took the key, and did not say anything about a gate fee. Seems a bit crooked. I could have waited 40 minutes for my insurance companies tow service, and now I know to do that next time.
Avoid Valley Towing.

Thieves and liars and cheats. Possibly the worst tow company to be involved with, which is probably why they mostly do business with cops and chps in San Rafael. Avoid at all cost especially on the weekend. 135 $ Gate fee just to go to my car and retrieve my property on the weekend. Charge nearly twice as much as any other tow yard. Highway robbery and ransom
