Strutt Your Mutt

I am typically not one to write a review, but I feel that a warning is necessary. The welfare of my animals and the safety of my home and belongings were greatly compromised.
We hired Strutt Your Mutt, located in San Rafael, CA, for the in-​home care of our pets while we were away on vacation. When we returned home the last night of vacation at 11pm, we found that the door to our deck had been left wide open and the basement door leading to our backyard was left completely unlocked. This prompted us to review our Nest footage for our time away and we were shocked by what we found.
When we hired Strutt Your Mutt, we agreed to 4 in-​home visits each day to let the dogs in the yard and to care for our animals, including turtles and Guinea Pigs that were to be cared for during the 1^st and last visit of each day, which required filling a water bottle and dropping in some pellets. We gave instructions not to feed our Beta fish (which was confirmed twice via text) as we had taken care of his food, but one of the workers decided to feed him anyway, and, as seen on camera, the wrong food was used to do so.
As we reviewed the Nest footage, we were shocked and sickened to find that a conscious decision had been made to neglect our animals because someone figured an easy way out of performing the care duties. We have an enclosed deck that does not allow access to the backyard but apparently the thought was that it would be ok to leave the door open 24 hours a day thereby forcing the dogs to give in and use the deck as their bathroom. The deck is only approximately 12×12′, not leaving much room for the animals to do anything once they began defecating and urinating on it given that one dog is 45lbs and the other is over 100lbs. As seen on camera during a conversation between workers, a decision was made on the first day the animals were left in Strutt Your Mutt’s care that it would be an ok way to care for the animals needs to force them to use the deck, and they apparently decided to make only 2 trips to the home each day, leaving the dogs unattended and the house unlocked for over 14 hours at a time, the open deck door allowing anyone access to our home if someone decided to do so. Given that the weather here gets cold at night, our heat, which is consistently set at 68 degrees, ran for many unnecessary hours every evening to offset the open door as temperatures outside were in the 50s. And being that no one returned to the home for the agreed 4 visits each day, the turtles and guinea pigs did not receive their water and nightly care either. The water for the Guinea Pigs is extremely important as they can overheat during warm afternoon temperatures, which can cause death.
And, lastly, as if all of the above is not bad enough, our space and privacy was violated when Strutt Your Mutt did decide to show up at our home. Each one of the workers, on multiple, separate occasions, felt that it was ok to rifle through our things and help themselves to the refrigerator and cabinets, consuming our children’s snacks, our deli food, drinking our soda and enjoying our wine. Out of the bottle. Yes, this is all caught on camera.
Please think twice before hiring Strutt Your Mutt for the care of your animals. Thankfully, our animals survived the neglect and our home was not robbed, but realize what disastrous things could have happened because these people are uncaring liars and cheats with no regard for the property of others and, most importantly, no regard for the safety, lives and welfare of living creatures.

We love Strutt Your Mutt! Sibelle and Dakota have been taking care of our dog for over 7 years. I think our dog, Hans likes them more than he does his own family! As soon as he hears their car pull up he completely freaks out and jumps up and down until they come to the door at which time he proceeds to jump on them and lick them to death! They have taken him several times while we have been away on vacation. We have the upmost confidence in their ability to care for him and make sure he gets enough exercise!!!

Sincerely, from the moment Sibelle brought over the first house sitter I was grateful and sensed their care and trustworthiness.
I needed an additional couple days of dog care and she was able to make accommodations. She always works with her client to make dog and owners comfortable. She has taken the dogs into her home, sent us a trusted employee or come by and take out the dogs for us.
Strutt Your Mutt has been an excellent connection I have made in the North Bay Area. They not only love dogs but they are caring with you home and responsible individuals.

Sibelle and Lisa of Strutt Your Mutt are fantastic! Our dog Stella started with single walks as a small puppy and now goes on the group walks. We’ve also had overnights and everything has been great. I would highly recommend Strutt Your Mutt. They’ll even send you pics of the dogs out on the walks, hiking and swimming. My husband says our dog has a bigger social life than us when we see pics of her swimming on hot days as we sit at our desks and work :)

I can’t say enough about Sibelle, Dakota and the Strutt your Mutt team. From our first meeting and all their visits for my dog Moe they have been fabulous… they are flexible, kind and patient with my lovable (but sometimes challenging) dog. If you need help with your dog they are definitely the ones to call! I appreciate that they go above and beyond to make sure your dog is well take care of, safe and comfortable. They alert you if there are concerns and suggestions. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

I started using Strutt Your Mutt about a month ago by referral of a friend. I am so glad I did. Sieblle and Dakota have been great with my dog and are really flexible with my schedule. I don’t always have time to take him out to play with other dogs, so the group walks are perfect. Seeing how excited my dog Cosmo was to see Dakota for his walk today prompted me to write this review. Cosmo says 5 Stars!

Sibelle is like the female dog whisperer! She has an incredible gentle but effective way with even the scariest dogs. I had brought my dog to her place and even though there were several others there, my dog seemed to feel right at home. She is extremely personable and really seems to love the dogs.
