Outgrown

The WORST customer service! My husband brought in a bunch of barely used items that she was not interested in, which is fine. She gave him attitude and said we don’t need those, we have plenty of those with an attitude. My husband said how would I know? Apparently it’s offending her to bring items to sell. I would not support a business that treats people so poorly. Go somewhere else to sell and buy. She also had «no time» to sign him up for an account for future sales. He called me on the way home because he was so shocked at the way he was treated. Don’t support them!

I’ve had some luck as a consigner but it’s hard to figure out what they will take. Sydney has been really critical of some of the clothing I’ve brought in which has all been high quality and stain free but then I’ve seen clothing with stains on the racks so that’s weird. Also, no call to let you know when you’ve sold anything and they don’t mail a check — you must pick up which is annoying.

We’ve been here so many times and each time walked away with something great. Thank you for being here!

Too bad. I was hoping to shop around but got there right when she was closing and pretty much was told to leave. I guess il just try again another day, or keep buying new clothes at my favorite boutiques. I really would have loved to poke around. Oh well…

The perfect place to find clean baby, toddler & kids clothing. All perfect condition & incredible prices. Wonderful place to also find baby items such as cribs, high chairs, toys, etc. Again, all in great condition &
affordable prices. A very practical way to shop for items kids will out grow.
I had shopped here over 30 years ago for my kids & now a granddaughter is on the way. Grateful they’re still in business. Sydney still owns & operates Out Grown. Lisa has been there at least 20 years. A team who loves what they do. It says a lot that they are still in business after so many years. Don’t read negative reviews. Go see for yourself!!!

I’m glad I read the previous reviews about the lack of customer service. I hate to say it, but it is true. I went to this store in spite of the number of reviews that said people were not greeted or acknowledged because I wanted to be fair and check it out for myself.
I went on a Friday afternoon and there weren’t any other customers in the store. I was not greeted. No biggie, after all I’ve worked in retail and I know how it is. However, after spending a good 20 minutes in the store there was no «hi, can I help?» or even a simple «goodbye!»
In regards to the merchandise it was okay. The furniture looked good. Seems like they had a lot of stuff that was outdated and super worn as far as clothes go though.

I’ve come here hoping to find some good stuff for my kid. I tried to ignore the negative Unilocal reviews. But on the several occasions I’ve visited this shop, sadly those negative reviews were proven correct (at least in my experience).
Service is either non-​existent or surly.
Selection (for what I was looking for) wasn’t great and what was there I found to be overpriced, especially for used items.
I’m bummed. I love kid’s consignment stores — my favorites being Chloe’s Closet in SF and Child’s Play in Berkeley. I was hoping to find something comparable close to home.

I shopped here to get something for my 7 year old niece. I ended up finding a cute skirt for her for $ 7, but the selection of skirts and dresses in her size was pretty limited. A couple of the dresses were too worn out in my opinion. A navy and white cotton dress had at least 3 stains on it and another was missing two buttons. Buttons are easy to sew on, but the stained dress was a mess and priced at $ 15.

Was in the area and decided to check out this consignment store. $ 12.75 for a Carter’s sleeper that you can get brand new at Costco for $ 7? Rip off. Everything is overpriced.

I“ve tried to drop off items for consignment so many times in the last 8 months and either the store is closed during normal business hours or they aren’t accepting donations due to being full. I’ve called and the owner has told me to come back tomorrow but when I come back the next day, the sign is outside saying they aren’t taking anything. Frustrating Frustrating!

If I could only rate on the customer service that Lisa has provided I would, but the owner (?) is consistently such a grump that I try to avoid her at all cost.
A kids’ consignment shop has a bathroom for the public to use for good reason. Most of us are shopping with kids and it’s much better in my opinion to let novice potty users get to the bathroom and avoid cleaning up puddles. I’ve witnessed moms asking if their little ones could use the bathroom & Lisa at the front counter saying absolutely, but getting serious scowls by the bitter betty in the back sorting clothes when they do head back to the facilities.
Where is Outgrown’s website which lists what days they’re accepting consignments or any information for that matter? Get with the times, Outgrown!
One day they’re accepting consignments, I gather all of my goods to sell & return the next day only to see the «not currently accepting consignments» sign out front. If the one woman wasn’t so mean, I’d ask if they’d be willing to make exceptions. My goods are good goods. I was very surprised with the one time I did consign to find the meanie took only 1% of what I brought. Petit Bateau must be a brand she doesn’t know.
I come in when I need some one-​time dress clothes or something for which I refuse to pay full price. It’s great for seasonal sports equipment like ski gear or baseball, soccer or ballet. Be educated about your prices & you’re good to go. The private lot in the back is also a bonus.
Just beware the grump!

I love this place. Good prices and good items. I’ve bought larger toys and lots of clothes here. I just bought our baby an activity station and a swing for our 5 month old. He LOVES the activity station and we got it for only $ 30.

The owner of this store is so very friendly and helpful. She’s awesome. There are other women who work in the store who always seem very annoyed and unhappy.
We can usually find something to buy – whether it’s toys or clothes.
My only word of caution is to know your prices. I’ve almost paid MORE for something that was used, that brand-​new!

Great place to shop and to consign. Call ahead before stopping by with bags. Sometimes they are FULL TO THE BRIM with items. And because they are a business, they want to take your best items to sell. That way they can make a little money, too. Don’t be hurt if they don’t take your non-​brand name items, (one reviewer seemed quite miffed at that). They have a wonderful selection of clothes, shoes and toys. I’ve been shopping and consigning here for 9 years! I’m a big fan!

I have gone to Outgrown for almost 13 years (as long as my son’s been around). They have wonderful service there — they are always friendly and welcoming, even if they aren’t taking clothes at the time! I’ve tried other consignment places but I ALWAYS come back to Outgrown and have decided it’s really the only place to go in Marin.

I just went there today and dropped off a ton of girl (8) and boy (6) clothes. It was nice when the woman looking at my kids clothes said «you’ve got a really nice bunch of clothes» ~~ Thanks… I like to dress my kids in well made clothes :)
I previously went to Play it Again in San Rafael, never really got a nice vibe there… I am a true FAN of Out Grown now and will continue to consign here.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!
The store itself is the best one-​stop-​shop there is. From bedding to toys, to layettes to toddlers, from furniture to strollers, this is the place to come. Their selection of books is one of my favorites & I’ve never left empty-​handed when looking for the ultimate baby shower or young child’s birthday present. Murals & mock bedrooms provide great inspiration for anyone setting up a nursery or kid’s room. The store is set up so nicely & everything is really easy to find.
You will always get a bargin on used baby items!

My family has been shopping at Outgrown for almost 30 years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My daughter is 4, so I only recently began consigning here, but I have been very pleased with their results. The best part about buying from Outgrown is that you know that you will receive HIGH quality items at LOW prices. They do not take Circo, Sprockets, and other CHEAP clothing lines. I buy these at Target and they are CHEAP & NEW there! At Outgrown I know I can find brand names for less…
That is kinda the whole point!

I have tried to shop at this store but rarely find anything that I want to buy. The customer service is pretty much non-​existent — I think that after about 10 visits I’ve had one ‘Hi”.
The best thing that I bought there was an Oilily backpack that my son loves. Other than that, I’ve picked up some rain gear and a few toys here and there. They do carry a wide selection of ski gear but it tends to be OVERpriced, I mean $ 50 for an outdated Obermeyer jacket? I found a better one for my son at the Goodwill on 3^rd Street! As always, if you have a girl, chances are you’ll have a wide selection to choose from but if you have a boy (like I do) there are typically slim pickings.
Honestly, visit the Goodwill on 3^rd Street, I have found some GREAT stuff there: Obermeyer & Burton ski jackets $ 8.99, Burton and Volcomm ski pants $ 5.99, jeans $ 4.49, Quiksilver board shorts $ 3.49! This is my secret spot to shop so don’t tell anyone…
They do have a parking lot out back which is definitely handy.

I really like this store, it also has free parking in the back! I like to come here every few weeks and see what is new, they have a good selection of clothes, shoes and toys. Not to mention cribs, strollers and slings. They will let you try anything on (slings and clothes etc) and most are priced realyl well.
The last time I was there I was looking for something specific and asked one of the staff, I think she was the owner, and she went into the back and grabbed a bag of untagged stuff and let me look through it. It was such a nice thing to do for me. I found some great deals in that bag.
They sell Melissa and Doug toys used for three dollars! They have new ones too, but the used ones are where it is at for me! They have a good selection of maternity clothes also which comes in handy when you need something new because you are so tired of wearing the same thing over and over.
