Can’t recommend highly enough. I always try to support local retailers vs going online but at times find it difficult for reasons we all understand. LSSM went out of their way to accommodate my needs today in a way an online retailer simply can’t so will definitely be giving them all of my lamp/shade business in the future!

I have had a number of lamps fixed at this store. They could not be more helpful. They have a great selection of shades and finials, the best I’ve found in Marin. They are patient, courteous and they do things on time. Highly recommended. Be sure to check their opening hours.

Bought a fancy lamp from a design consignment store in San Rafael and was told it just needed a new bulb. Bough new bulbs, but the lamp didn’t work. Instead of returning to the furniture place, stopped by the Lamp & Shade Shop to diagnose and see what might be the issue, as I couldn’t just buy another one of the lamps, and the furniture store would’ve just given me a refund. Amanda was very friendly, hands on, and incredibly knowledgeable, and got the lamp working for about 5 bucks. Was so nice to get personalized service, attention to detail and have a «go-to» in the area. Would recommend anytime for anyone needing assistance with their lighting needs.

My Mom’s lamp was flickering and she suggested I call Lamp & Shade of Marin(in SR on 4th at D) as she’d had a lot of work done /purchased lamps from them before. I called and told them that I would like a rather quick repair(it was Friday) as I was going to Tahoe on Sunday and my Mom needed her reading lamp. She(Mary) said, «Bring in on in!» We got there and a super gifted repair woman(she learned how to repair lamps from her grandpa) said, «no problem, we’ll replace the stem(where the bulb sits) and put in a new extension cord. Should take an hour.» Mom and I got to looking at some of the beautiful lamps. I’ve bought about 5 lamps from Lamps Plus and must say that Lamp & Shade of Marin are a SUPER value. Great lamp shapes at very competitive prices. Plus, I get the feeling that unlike my Lamps Plus lamps that break down in two years, these lamps will last. And if they don’t, they’ll fix them for you whereas Lamps Plus just directs you to a repair shop. So any way, in about 15 mintues, the repair lady says, «Done!» OMG! It was all done for $ 18 in parts and $ 24 in labor. Total steal on a 20 years old, unreplaceable $ 200(when purchased) lamp. Looks fantastic, works great. She also taught a trick for repairing a small chip by using a gold colored sharpe. I highly recommend them for a number of reasons: speed, value, good design, excellent repair service, nice people and I think it’s high time we considered supporting our local businesses over the $ 10 we might save at a chain.

I was in town for a family reunion, and went to this store with family on a recommendation. I left with a beautiful Mica lamp shade of the Golden Gate Bridge and coordinating iron table lamp. This lamp remains one of my all-time favorites! The customer service was excellent(not always my experience in a small town store), and the store had a great selection to choose from. Will go again when in the area.

great selection. inordinate patience. I feel like we tried every shade in the store until we found one. I felt like the lady was gracious the whole time and she was knowledgeable.($ 50 for a shade, there were $ 100 ones that were better). when I said I didn’t want the $ 100 one she was still very nice. I bought the lamp base for $ 5 at a garage sale so i didn’t balk at investing in a shade I enjoy.

Ok, I never thought I’d seriously ever go shopping in a lamp store. Don’t you just buy that stuff at Target? Yes, I paid a lot more than I thought a lampshade cost. But it was the perfect shade to go with a lamp my grandfather had made, and my mother needed to replace the shade. They had a HUGE selection. They were patient. And they had good input/opinions as to what would work. I just kicked myself for not going here first. They have a great selection. And they’re nice people.
